Hrithik to doodle in a Yankee accent

Actor Hrithik Roshan is known to be dedicated, hardworking and a thorough professional. He'll leave no stone unturned to get his character right. So be it for dad's Koi Mil Gaya , when he had to metamorphose into a 'special child' or then for Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar , in which he had to use some chaste Urdu, Hrithik has always gone the distance.

In Rakesh Roshan's Kites , too, to be produced by Anurag Basu, Hrithik is putting in his all. Starring opposite the lovely Barbara Mori, the actor is working hard to get an authentic Yankee accent. "A trainer comes to Duggu's house everyday. And is there for over an hour. Hrithik is forever listening to the accent required for the film...by watching movies, or then listening to dialogues... he has sheets and sheets which he keeps reading out aloud in the required accent," says a friend of the actor.

So, when you meet the actor next and notice a twang in the accent, you know where and how he got that from!

Katrina Kaif : Fever Pitch!

Trust Katrina Kaif to be a thorough professional. The actress was down with heavy viral fever during the IIFA Awards held in Bangkok recently. The doctors had advised her complete bed rest. The organisers wondered whether Katrina would be able to live up to her commitment and perform live for the event.

In fact, taking the doctor's advice into consideration the organisers too suggested that Kats should just take it easy and not perform at the show. But Kats being Kats, popped in some antibiotics and was on the go! It was all rock and roll from then on.

Retracting from a commitment was out of question for her. And the kind of performance Kats dished out, not once did the onlookers come to know that Kats was completely under the weather, Looking as fresh as the morning dew, she not only had the audience on her side, but also the producers and directors who were stunned by her professionalism.

Looks like it's the offers that are now 'heating up' for the lovely Katrina.

Sushmita’s weighty woes

We did tell you how Sushmita Sen was melting in Delhi because of the heat. It’s a different story that the once sexy damsel, who upped the temperature with her oomph, will probably need all the heat to melt the fat that she has put on.

While there, for a shooting schedule, Sush frequents a gym with her personal trainer in tow, and everyone at the fitness centre is talking about how 'out of shape' she is. It’s time this Sen return to her sensuous avatar. How? Well, Sush you’ll just have to ‘figure’ that one out!

Ash has German measles

Aishwarya Rai is down with German measles. The actress, who has been under the weather since the past couple of days, has been medically advised not to come in contact with anyone as it is contagious.

A source reveals that Ash hadn't been keeping well ever since she returned from the IIFA awards in Bangkok earlier this month. After complaining of fever and bodyache for several days, Ash landed up with German measles.

Pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan confirms the development and says, "Yes, it's been a while. But she's almost out of it."

Adds the source, "Ash has been advised complete bedrest. Since the virus takes its own time to subside, there isn't much she can do. She's cancelled all her appointments."

Another source close to the family adds, "Ash's condition has improved now and she's on her way to recovery. This is the first time she has been affected by measles."

What is German measles?
Rubella, commonly known as German measles, is an infection that affects the skin and lymph nodes.

It is caused by the rubella virus (not the same one that causes measles), which is transmitted by droplets from the nose or throat that others breathe in.

It can also pass through a pregnant woman's bloodstream to infect her unborn child.

VO to dance with six Russian Beauties

Vivek Oberoi, who shot for a solo song for Apoorva Lakhia's Mission Istaanbul, personally selected the six Russian dancers who gyrated with him in the track. Lakhia confirms, "Vivek auditioned the girls himself. He wanted the song to look good and I guess Vivek also wanted to hang around with some cute and cool chicks!"

It is learnt that after Vivek got a good response to his performance at IIFA Bangkok. Mission Istaanbul producer Sunil Shetty and director Apoorva Lakhia were so impressed by Vivek that they decide to shoot a solo track with him.

The song is Apun Ke Saath Jo Ladega with Mika Singh rendering the track. It's an offshoot of the Aye Ganpat song in Shootout At Lokhandwala.

Says Lakhia, "Sunil and I decided to give Vivek the song choreographed by Rajiv Goswami. Originally, there was no solo song of Vivek's as he plays a Turkish commando so we couldn't have him singing and dancing around trees. He danced so well at IIFA — it was as if he wanted to prove he could dance too."

Is there any truth to the buzz that Vivek was feeling insecure and had fought with Apoorva as he felt Zayed Khan was being promoted more?

Says Apoorva, "Earlier, people were saying we were not promoting Vivek enough. That wasn't true. It's just that Zayed has a romantic angle and had two songs with two different girls. Vivek has never come to me with any complaints.

This is our second film together. We are friends and share a pretty good relationship. Now we have decided to promote only Vivek's song and not the Vivek-Zayed number. I have to be fair. It's a two-hero film."

Punk'd by Abhishek

Abhishek Bachchan is famous for being a prankster on the sets of his films. Actors who have worked with him been at the receiving end of his tricks and cons.

On the sets of Dostana, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra saw this side of the actor. Although his co-stars were polite enough to keep their reactions to themselves, not everyone found his pranks funny or cute.

An eyewitness recalls how the actor pulled a fast one on a spot boy working on the film.

"Abhishek went up to him and pretended to be very angry. He told the boy that he was unhappy with his attitude. After beating him for a few minutes, Abhishek took two steps closer to him and pretended to slap him really hard on his face.

In reality, what he did was slap his own hand but to everyone else on the set, it appeared like he'd slapped the guy, stunning the onlookers."

Abhishek has a kitty of pranks. Describing one of his other favourite pranks, a source adds, "Often, when a scene is going on, Abhishek pretends that he's got hurt and asks for the shot to be cut. He gives the impression that his co-star has injured. Everyone on the set rushes to him and then he reveals they have been punked!"

However, Abhishek's pranks on the sets are now getting boring, "It's getting a bit too much. Initially, everyone was falling for it, but now they just don't react to him anymore," concludes the source.

Maybe, Abhishek needs to come up with some original pranks.

Adi is Unhappy with the final outcome of 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'

After several cancellations and delays in the film's schedule, producer Aditya Chopra is now re-shooting portions of Bachna Ae Haseeno.

The film starring Bipasha Basu, Ranbir Kapoor, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone is directed by Siddharth Anand (Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum).

It is learnt that Aditya wasn't satisfied with the final outcome.

An industry source says, "Yash Raj's recent movies have been bombing at the box-office.
As a result, Adi has decided to re-shoot portions to better the project. After Adi saw the rushes of the film, he wasn't too happy with the final outcome."

The insider adds, "He has taken over from director Siddharth Anand and started re-shooting vital sequences to save whatever he can."

It is also learnt that as the film is slated to release in August, it is proving to be an uphill task to re-shoot and get all the stars together again.

Yash Raj's media spokesperson, however, maintains, "Only a promotional video for the title track is being shot, the film is not being re-shot."

The promotional video for the title track has been inspired by Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor's chartbusting track Bachna Ae Haseeno from Hum Kisise Kam Nahin.

Continuing the tradition of showcasing the first look of their upcoming films with their latest release, Yash Raj Films unveiled the promo of Bachna Ae Haseeno with their latest, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.

ROCK ON!! with JAANE TU... YA JAANE NA

While there have been issues in the recent past, whereby trailors of upcoming films have not been included in the prints of new films, or added after much deliberations, here is a totally opposite case, which should set new precedents!

Producer Aamir Khan has proved to be a genuine friend of new actor, though highly successful director (DIL CHAHTA HAI, LAKSHYA and DON), Farhan Akhtar and also of producer Ritesh Sidhwani.

Apparently, Aamir Khan himself asked producer Ritesh Sidhwani to include the promo of his film ROCK ON!!, in the prints of Aamir's forthcoming production venture, JAANE TU... YA JAANE NA. After getting the nod, Aamir has gone ahead and the promos of ROCK ON!! can be seen this Friday, during the screening of JTYJN.

As may be recalled, Aamir Khan had acted in Ritesh's DIL CHAHTA HAI, which was Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut venture.

Love Story 2050's grand world premiere on July 2 in London

One of the hottest newcomers of Bollywood, Harman Baweja, is gearing up for his big day or should we say big night- Wednesday, July 2. Yes that is the day when Harman will be present along with the cast and crew of his debut film Love Story 2050 at the grand premiere of his film scheduled to take place in London.

Bollywood Hungama spoke to an excited Harman who shared all the details of the grand premiere, "I am really looking forward to the world premiere of my film Love Story 2050 in London. The premiere is on Wednesday July 2, 2008 at the Cineworld theatre in Feltham. This is the same place where the premiere of Krrish was held few years ago"

But why London for the premiere? "It was something which we had planned six months in advance. I believe my entire team has already done a lot of promotions in India. There are many Indians living in London who are as much into Bollywood as we are and we thought it would be absolutely unfair for us not to come there and share our film with them and hence we decided to have the world premiere in London. So far I have received an extremely warm response from people in London, be it through e-mails or phone calls and I am really looking forward to the premiere"

So who all are going to be present for the special night? "Well myself, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Dad (Harry Baweja) and Mom (Pammi Baweja) would be there along with Mr. Khetarpal from Adlabs (who are also the producers of the film). Besides, I have a lot of family members in London. I am a Punjabi so there are lots of distant relatives of mine who stay in and around London. They are all really excited about the premiere happening there and even I am looking forward to catching up with some of my cousins after a long time."

I’d rather be called sensuous: Vidya

Vidya Balan is sure flying high on the wings of success. Reached the heights that she has, talk to Vidya Balan and she’ll sound as modest, in fact, oblivious of all the attention she commands.

Praise her, and you hear a humble “Oh God! That’s such a boost to my ego.” Tell her she’s beautiful, and she comes up with an emphatic “Thankkk you!” As if she really needed a confirmation! Gravity in her voice when she’s talking, broken by frequent peals of laughter, Vidya is, simply put – a bundle of joy.

And all this when, “I have been travelling and haven’t even slept.” Add to that the stress of promoting Kismat Konnection, fighting rumours of link-ups with Shahid and constant remarks on her dressing, Vidya has learnt to take all of it in her stride, and happily.

“I guess the media is seriously starved of news on me,” laughs Vidya on controversy revolving around her dressing sense in Kismat...(once again) post Heyy Babyy. “People have nothing more to discuss I guess. Heyy Babyy was an aberration. But this time, I actually had so many people telling me that there’s nothing wrong in that Kismat... dress. In fact, it’s nice. Anyway, I’m not thinking that anymore.”

However, we insist, do actors have no say in deciding what they'll wear in a film? “Of course we have a say, but I hadn’t used it so far. This time, I’ve exercised my say completely.”

Not just her dresses, scouting rumours about any affair between Shahid and herself is another bother. “Linking me with Shahid is preposterous.” But then didn’t we have her quoting a while back that ‘there’s someone with the alphabet ‘S’ in her life’? “Oh! Can that only mean Shahid? I have so many people in my life whose name starts with ‘S’. In fact, those days when I had quoted this, I meant my ‘girlfriend'’Saloni who was down from the US.” Now, whoever imagined that it was a girl!

All right, with all these rumours add to the great onscreen chemistry that’s showing in the Kismat... promos, ask her if she’s prepared for comparisons between her jodi with Shahid to the one he shared with Kareena in Jab We Met? “Firstly, thank you for praising our chemistry,” she smiles, as she adds, “I’ve always shared a good on-screen chemistry with all my co-actors, including Shahid. Shahid and Kareena may have had a good chemistry in JWM, but that doesn’t bother me.” But to atleast avoid the constant link-ups with co-actors, the best that she does is, “I disconnect with my co-stars beyond a point. Or I wouldn’t talk much to them for the fear of what’s being said or what’s unsaid. The rest I really can’t help.”

From comparisons about on-screen jodi to a size-zero figure, Kareena’s enviable figure, (that’s almost set a trend much like the six-pack ab of SRK) doesn’t even fit in her list of discussions. “We’re not a part of the herd that we have to look similar. Each has his own style and that makes one liked or the other disliked. It’s more important to look healthy.”

And she believes that strictly, given the quote in one of her previous interviews that ‘I don’t want to be called sexy.’ “Yes, I mean that. Sexy is now equated with shedding clothes, just like glamour is equated with wearing Western. But I think I looked both sexy and glamorous in Parineeta, despite my Indian look in the film. Sexy is all about the appeal one has in his eyes. But since that’s not how it’s perceived, I’d rather want to be called sensuous than sexy.”

For those waiting to see more of her, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Chenab Gandhi with Amitabh Bachchan and Vishal Bhardwaj's Ishq Kiya are next in line after Kismat...!

Rockers Ahoy!

Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Rock On, directed by Abhishek (Gattu) Kapoor, will be having a series of rock concerts in four major cities of the country, as part of the film's promotion. Rock On stars Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar, Luke Kenny, Prachi Desai, and Purab Kohli.

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani confirms, "Yes we are looking at an option where we will have a series of concerts starting from August (Rock On releases on August 29) across Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad. They will be known as Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy Rock On concerts with Farhan singing live the songs of Rock On and the rest of the cast joining him on stage. Currently, we are working on the venues and logistics."

It was Abhishek Kapoor's idea to make the lead actor actually sing and not just lip-sync the songs. "Farhan plays the guitar and after every shoot we would sit and jam with him. So this role was right up his alley and him actually singing makes it more authentic."

It was director Abhishek Kapoor's idea to make the lead actor to actually sing and not to lip-sync the songs.

Ritesh continues, "The film's music will be launched on July 7 at Infinity Mall in Andheri where Farhan will sing live. The rest of the cast and the music directors Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy will also be present. It's a different way of marketing and promoting the film.

As the film revolves around a rock band, we thought a series of rock concert would work in branding the film and since Farhan has sung five out of the nine songs in the album it would also be an interesting way of promoting the film.

Farhan Akhtar adds, "I'm very excited and yet nervous about performing in front of live audiences. I have only done jam sessions at home with my friends. But yes, I'm growing with confidence everyday thanks to an amazing and brilliant teacher in Shankar who has been giving me voice training exercises. I don't know if I'll become an actual rockstar or not as people make stars. But yes, I'm confident about singing at these rock concerts today."

About Rock On
Farhan plays the lead singer of the rock band while Arjun, Purab and Luke are the instrumentalists of the band. Rock On is a story about the friendship of these four friends. Music plays an important role in their lives and their journey 10 years up and down. It's male bonding like Dil Chahta Hai but in a different way, surroundings and situation.

Rani to showcase just one outfit in 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic'

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee, who is often admired for the elaborate saris and dresses she flaunts in her films, will be sporting just one outfit in her forthcoming film "Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic".

"I wanted to create an iconic figure. If you look at Superman, Mr. India, Gabbar Singh and Mogambo, they all wear the same outfits in their films," Kunal Kohli, the co-producer, director and writer of the film said on the phone from Mumbai.

"I don't know whether it would succeed or not but that is what I wanted," he added.

Her outfit is a one-layered affair crafted by fashion designer Manish Malhotra. The film, starring Rani, Saif Ali Khan and four children, was premiered on Friday.

The film also gave Rani the opportunity to enact a scene while suspended in midair.

"It was for the first time that I got to hang from a harness while shooting for the film. I was very excited," Rani said.

The film revolves around four children and a man whom they hate - till God sends down an angel to sort their lives out.

Katrina Kaif's big bungalow in London

Three months ago, Katrina Kaif bought a big bungalow in London for her family. Though she has made Mumbai her base, she grew up in London with her mother and nine sisters. Her family has already moved into their new home.

Our well-placed source says, “Katrina bought a very spacious bungalow in the Hampstead area of London early this year. From roles that were only an appendage to the heroes, she has evolved as an actress in the top bracket. But, she is not the type to spend her money foolishly. She decided to invest wisely by buying a house for her family.”

Adds the source, “Her mother and sisters originally lived in a small apartment, which wasn’t too comfortable for such a large family. So Katrina wanted to buy a bigger house for them. It’s the least, she felt she could do for them. She misses them very much, back in Mumbai.”

When contacted, Katrina did not deny that she has purchased a bungalow in Hamstead area of London.

Though she told us that the bungalow is a very beautiful, she refused to give any further details. She said, “I would prefer not to talk about it, it’s a personal affair.”

Rani needs thoda magic

When talking about her favourite actresses, Zeenat Aman in one of her recent interviews said, “Rani was my favourite and now I am fond of Kareena and Katrina.” No doubt Rani will remain as one of the finest actresses Bollywood has ever produced but as Zeenat said is Rani slowly taking a back seat and letting the younger actresses come to the forefront? Is the queen of Bollywood losing her crown and numero uno position and needs some magic, rather magical films in her kitty to retain her position?

Having ruled the roost for the past few years by giving hits like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Saathiya, Chalte Chalte, Yuva, Hum Tum, Veer Zaara, Black and Bunty Aur Babli, Rani’s films in the recent past have comparatively failed to rake in the moolah at the box-office inspite of her packing in some stupendous performances.

Rani’s attempt at playing versatile roles post Black however didn’t get fructified. Paheli, Mangal Pandey - The Rising, Baabul, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag all failed to give Rani the feedback she had expected. The films did mediocre business, thus shaking Rani from her number one spot.

In spite of her affiliation with India’s number one production house - The Yash Raj banner, Rani is striving hard to retain her position. “Rani hasn’t worked with other banners for quite some time and is looking forward to doing so, as she wants to try out different things right now. She also wants to try and work with different co-stars. She has always worked with Abhishek and Shah Rukh and now wants to do something different” said our source who is close to Rani.

With Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic all set to release, we hope it casts a magic spell on Rani’s ongoing stagnant performance at the BO and elevate her back to the spot where she belongs...

Harman Vs Priyanka

Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja won't admit they are together, but when I suggested a together interview, they liked the idea. I decided to take it a step further and asked them to ask each other questions, while I played spectator.

The Love Story 2050 couple took up the challenge. Sure, I provided the fodder for the conversation but the rest is all their own bakbak. Read on for a heart-to-heart between Harman and Priyanka.

Priyanka: Tell me about your first love story/relationship.
Harman: A love story is different from a relationship.

What do you mean? What is the difference?
A love story is a story of love, which is quite different from a story of a relationship.

Guys get into a relationship when they are in love, right?
(Interrupts) I can be in love with someone but not be in a relationship. Anyway, my first love was my Std 5 school teacher in Jamnabai. Should I name her?

(Shocked) No, no, don't. She was your teacher, who probably has grandchildren by now.

Yes, she will feel embarrassed.

Okay, tell me about your first love story?
I was in class seven and this guy was in Std 10. He used to live above my house and I use to sit in my garden admiring him.

What happened then? Did you manage to speak to him?
Noooo! His brother ended up getting a crush on me (laughs). Actually, I used to speak to his brother thinking I will get to talk to his elder brother but the younger one started liking me! Very sad and to top it all, he wasn't even good looking!

How old were you when you had your first crush?
It was in school, I think! You could buy a Crush for six rupees!

Gosh, I knew you would come up with this!!!!
(laughs) Right.

My first crush was my Spanish teacher Maestro Cardona in Std 8!
See, I am ahead of you.

You are always ahead of me in everything.
And what was that Spanish teacher's name? It reminds me of…

I know where you head is running. Maestro means Mr in Spanish...
Let's talk about your first kiss…

My first kiss was with my dog. His name was Elizabeth Taylor.
Your first kiss was with Elizabeth Taylor! Interesting!

Your first kiss?
My first kiss was...

(Interrupts) Your first human kiss...
That's not fair.

You didn't specify, I am specifying.
My first kiss was when I was lying naked in bed and someone's wife came up to me....

And she turned to be your father's wife....
(Laughs) Yes, she turned out to be my father's wife. Shockingly, even her husband kisses me.

Okay, who was your first official girlfriend?
My first official girlfriend was in school and I won't take her name. PM is all I would say about her. I was in Std 8when I asked her out and the relationship lasted for around nine months.

Good boy! (pats him)
And yeah, I used to always meet her in the evening because she was PM and not AM. Sorry, bad joke! What about you?

My first official BF was when I was in Std 9, when I was in America and he was a year senior to me.
You are into older men!? Actually I think most of the girls are into older men.

Last official girlfriend?
RDC is the initial and it was during my college days.

After that you never had a girlfriend?
(Laughs) Officially, no! Unofficially, many (winks)

Well I was 17 when I had my first official relationship. I don't know whether it worked but it was good overall!
I think it never worked.

I am sure yours did, so shut up.
I think I know the reason! It was becauseeeeee....

Shut up, shut up (hits him) Let's talk about something else. Define me in five words.
You define me…

C'mon.
Hmmmm (thinks), damn difficult question

You don't have "FIVE" words to define me??
Actually, there are so many, don't know which five words to shortlist.

Honest, trustworthy, forgiving
(Horrified) FORGIVING??!!! ME?

Actually unforgiving, sorry (laughs) Unbelievably caring and perfect. Now your turn.
Sensitive, great sense of humour, thoughtful, focused, and a family man, who loves his family, and they are a priority.

What is Love Story 2008, according to you?
Love Story 2008 is actually Love Story 2050.

Let it be Love Story 2008, 2030 or 3000, for me, its only and only Love Story 2050. Your favorite on-screen couple. Bollywood and Hollywood?
Holly: Brad Pitt and Angelina and Bolly: it has to be Shah Rukh and Kajol.

My fav Bollywood jodi is Salman and Bhagyashree and in Hollywood it's Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman

Tell me what does love mean to you?
Love means everything. Love defines everything a human being does from the time you wake up till the time you sleep. Love is something you enjoy. I love acting because I enjoy acting. Actually, I think I am still discovering love, it may be love for my family or my work...

Love is the only emotion in the world that is constant. You can take away a feeling or some or the other emotion at some point of time in your life but love will always remain for someone somewhere.

Has your definition of love changed over the years and how?
Love is a constant emotion. I don't think the meaning has or will ever change.

I am still discovering love. I am still under the process. Though I say I love my parents but still here are so many emotions, which yet need to be discovered. Love is a constant change in our life. Such an antithesis, na!

Your favorite romantic film?
DDLJ. Yours?

(Looks at Priyanka) Maine Pyaar Kiya. Okay, which co-star would I look best with?
I haven't yet seen you with any co-star as yet, so I think you look the best with me.

(Thinks) Of all the co stars you have worked with, I think you really looked cute with Sunny paaji in Hero. You were superb. It was just like Beauty And The... (whispers) I am very intelligent, I won't say it out aloud...

You better not.

Working out with buddies or working out with a lover?
I hate working out. It doesn't really matter whether it is with buddies or a lover or a trainer.

That's your answer??
(Laughs) Ya.

That's my answer. Now your turn
(Thinks) Hmmm, it has to be a lover. You get that bonus time to spend with your lover. I would want to spend as much time as I can with my lover and I think this would be one of the best times to give and take quality time from each other.

Akshay’s spoof act doesn’t go down well with Adi

Bangkok: Akshay Kumar's IIFA act on Tashan hasn't gone down too well with producer Aditya Chopra. Even though Akshay performed on a medley of his hits that led to the Singh is Kinng final act, he opened with a skit spoofing his last release Tashan.

It is learnt that Akshay made his entry on stage clad in a turban and a long coat. He burst through the ceiling and sliding through a poster that says, 'My last film' and the words 'Flop' written all over it. After crashing through the poster Akshay goes on to humour the fact that Tashan flopped and says, ""Maa meri film flop ho gayi hai ab mein kya karoon? Mera price kam ho jayega, no one will want to work with me... Maa ab mein kya karoon?"

Even though the act was in good humour and Akshay didn't name Tashan, it was obvious which film he was referring to. A source reveals that after Aditya heard about this specific act, called Akshay and told him it was in bad taste.

"Adi heard about the act after the award function got over. He wasn't too happy that Akshay was one of the actors who made fun of his own film. The failure of Tashan hasn't gone down too well with him and he doesn't really want to have any memories of the project."

Apparently, Akki who thought the whole act was done in good humour was surprised to get such a reaction from Adi. "IIFA was full of spoofs this year. Tashan wasn't the only film that was made fun of. The hosts Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani spoofed many films. However, Adi was peeved because Akshay himself participated in the act despite being a part of the cast."

Various sources also add that post Tashan, there have been cold vibes between Aditya and Akshay.

The Yash Raj Films spokesperson maintains, "Nothing of this sort has happened."

Akshay Kumar will sport a rugged and suave look on Fear Factor

Akshay Kumar was always known as the 'Khiladi' for all his stunts and antics he did in his action films. Trained in various forms of martial arts, Akshay did most of his stunts by himself. In addition to this, he is now also the host of 'Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi'.

Akshay Kumar dons a new look to play his part as the host of the show. His new look is definitely making heads turn! Always unconventional and defiant, Akki's new rugged look complements his striking action hero personality!

Styled by a London based designer, the fashion forward line includes unusual hooded jackets, contemporary scarves, and trendy ankle length boots. Not to forget his wicked and rugged personal style with his military crew cut, salt-pepper stubble and of course designer aviator glasses that perfectly complements the look. Tall, athletic, and extremely handsome Akshay will also sport a leaner body, courtesy Khatron Ke Khiladi's wild stunts!

Forget the red carpet tuxedo and bow tie, Akshay's winning look is all about living life by your own rules! The look is a perfect synergy of his bold personality and his role as anchor of the new reality show with death-defying stunts. Commenting on his new avatar, Akshay Kumar's said, "I wanted to show all my 'COLORS' through my new style, Akshay's personal style… I don't want to look like someone else to be cool. What you see is what I am; from laughs to tears, to dangerous stuff, ladies and cheetah…It's just me, myself and all my scarves."

Another attraction of 'Fear Factor - Idea Khatron Ke Khiladi' is the 13 Bollywood beauties that the show brings together, who'll compete with each other, to be the last-one-standing. Yana Gupta, Aditi Govitrikar, Pooja Bedi, Sonali Kulkarni, Anita Hasnandani, Meghna Naidu, Tapur Chatterjee, Tupur Chatterjee, Nethra Raghuraman, Anjana Sukhani, Dipannita Sharma, Vidya Malvade and Urvashi Sharma. Kareena features among India's 50 Most Influential Women listed by Verve

If 'Forbes' can do it, then, why not Verve? We are indeed talking about the lifestyle magazine Verve's latest issue that has profiled the top female achievers of this year.

The best part of this list is that there are no rankings or ratings for the achievers. They are simply profiled. And true to the saying that there is no bigger business than showbiz, it is indeed Kareena Kapoor, the reigning queen of Bollywood, who features on the magazine cover. Showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to posing for covers, one surely must've lost the count of the number of magazines that she has posed for this year. Well, Kareena is one chic, for whom 'over-exposure' just does not hold any water.

The other achievers from the film industry include Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Katrina Kaif, Ekta Kapoor, Farah Khan, and Mira Nair.

Overall, this is a collector's issue and one should preserve it…till the new list comes in!

Looks can be deceptive

A few days ago, I was having this real lonnnnnnnng conversation with a prominent corporate house personnel and while discussing the low turnout at cineplexes these days, he came up with a valid observation that rang a bell. "It's getting increasingly difficult for the common man to shell out Rs. 200 for a ticket. The promos can be deceptive. The outcome of any film is solely dependant on word of mouth these days," he remarked. I endorse this viewpoint.

Come to think of it, the promos of DE TAALI, HAAL-E-DIL and KHUSHBOO were truly eye-catching. Besides, the producers of these films promoted their products to the optimum. But look what happened!

Speaking for myself, I had pinned a lot of hopes on DE TAALI. I looked forward to the film with great enthusiasm. But I was grossly disappointed when I watched the film. The script just didn't hold your attention, it lacked the grip. That's precisely why I am not surprised at its non-happening status at the b.o.

While a few plexes of Mumbai and a handful of cities showed an encouraging start, the opening elsewhere was way below the mark. There weren't sparks on Saturday or Sunday either and like it happens with most films, the business was on a decline from Monday onwards. At mini-metros and smaller centres, it faced rough weather from Day 1 itself.

HAAL-E-DIL went completely unnoticed. It had great music, stunning locales and a fresh cast -- a combo that has worked so well in the past. But the feedback to the film was more than evident at the premiere screening on Thursday night itself.

However, what came as a rude shock was the poor turnout at cineplexes. It was more of a reality check for all those who were of the opinion that good music alone can guarantee an initial at the ticket window. This film is a nightmare for its investors!

As for KHUSHBOO, the film was sidelined completely. It never got the right show timings and worse, it was never the first choice of moviegoers this weekend. The ratio of flops only got bigger last Friday!

Bachna Ae Haseeno promo with Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic

Continuing the tradition of showcasing the first look of their upcoming films with their latest release, Yash Raj Films would be unveiling the promo of Bachna Ae Haseeno with Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. Releasing tomorrow i.e. 27th June, 2008, the Kunal Kohli directed film would be accompanied with a specially cut theatrical promo of Bachna Ae Haseeno which has director Siddharth Anand at the helm of affairs.

Confirms Siddharth, "I am looking forward to the audience's reaction once the first look of Bachna Ae Haseeno is unveiled. The film is a family entertainer."

Tell him that Vishal and Shekhar, the composer duo of the film, are quite confident about the film's musical score and he says, "By God's grace the songs have turned out excellent. They are beyond our expectations. Vishal-Shekhar did an excellent job in my first two films - Salaam Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum - and the bond continues with Bachna Ae Haseeno as well."

Produced by Aditya Chopra, Bachna Ae Haseeno stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. This would be his second film after an ill-fated Saawariya which released last Diwali. Though the film was a commercial failure, it overnight made a superstar out of Ranbir Kapoor. Incidentally, Ranbir's co-star in Bachna Ae Haseeno is his real life girlfriend Deepika Padukone whose Om Shanti Om had crushed Saawariya, as both the films had release on the same day.

The film boasts of a casting coup of sorts since it also features Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba. With as many as three gorgeous women in tow, Ranbir has enjoyed quite a handful in Bachna Ae Haseeno. Also, it would have only turned out to be the case of more-the-better had Katrina Kaif stayed on as yet another female lead in the film. Though she was signed for the film, she had to eventually exit since the makers found that her part was making the film too long.

Now all set to release on 15th August, the film is most important for a) Ranbir Kapoor - since he would be looking at wiping away Saawariya debacle, b) Deepika Padukone - since she would be looking at following up on the blockbuster success of Om Shanti Om and c) Siddharth Anand - since he would be looking at completing a hat trick of successful films with YRF after Salaam Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum.

An unforgettable moment for Dia

The news is that, Dia Mirza helped give birth to a crocodile. Before the creative juices seep in your creative minds, let us clarify that giving 'birth' to crocodiles is a very easy task at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Bangkok, so easy that anyone can attempt it!

Dia Mirza visited the Sriracha Tiger Zoo during the croc egg-breaking festival during the IIFA weekend in Bangkok. An ecstatic Dia said that holding a baby crocodile in her palms was indeed a strange experience in itself as there were scores of crocodile eggs, most of them already cracked. Along with the caretaker, Dia had to get the baby crocodile out of the shell, cut the umbilical cord, and then bathe it in warm water!

But this process was not as easy as much as it sounds. Dia said that firstly the eggs were all sticky and full of goo. Then the baby croc that popped out was all smeared in blood! And when someone asked Dia if she would undergo the 'delivery process' once again, she quickly replied that helping in giving birth to one croc was more than enough for her.

One surely has heard of crocodile tears, but giving birth to a crocodile is a new thing and surely an unforgettable one. We are sure that Dia would agree! What say Dia!

Younger men are cool: Bipasha

Going the Dimple Kapadia way is Bipasha Basu who is romancing all younger men in her next three films... and all debutants of 2007.

There’s Ranbir Kapoor in Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseenon, Neil Nitin Mukesh in Jehangir Surtia’s Freeze and Maradonna Rebello in Sudipto Chattopdhya’s Paankh. In the past, Dimple romanced Akshaye Khanna in Dil Chahta Hai, Saif Ali Khan in Being Cyrus, and Amol Mhatre in Leela.

“So what if these actors are younger, is there an issue,” asked the Bengali actress testily. “My pairing with these younger men looks good. With Ranbir, I have great chemistry onscreen. Neil and I complement each other thanks to a fabulous script. They are cool and contemporary,” said Bips. In the third film, unfortunately, she’s only a diva who
lives in actor Maradonna’s fantasy.

Dia Mirza's hot sizzling look for Acid Factory

In Bollywood, where the frame of fame and fortune changes with every Friday, there are very few who can actually live upto their name! Dia Mirza is definitely one of them! After having set afire many films with her powerful performances, she is all set to blaze the screen once again with her forthcoming flick Acid Factory. Dia will be seen in a glam-chic avatar in the film.

The credit goes to none other than Nikhil Mehra, of the famous Nikhil-Shantanu duo, who, at the behest of a brief given by Sanjay Gupta, has given Dia a very structured, sexy and an action-oriented look. Of all her outfits in the film, we strongly feel that the highlight should be her flaming red dress, which simply stuns the onlooker at the mere sight!

As for Nikhil, he, today, is a man who is far more just satisfied as he says that Dia simply loves these dresses and that she has been working like dog to do full justice to the outfits. On his own admission, Nikhil says that Dia looks hotter than ever before in Acid Factory! And a little peek-a-boo on the red outfit 'reveals' that it's a gown with a slit showing off her legs and a gun-thigh strap; something which is slightly inspired by Sin City. There's also another look where she wears a well-fitting jackets while the dress has a provocative neckline.

Well, looking at this hot Bollywood actress, all we can say is 'Dia's attire will surely have the whole country afire!'

'Be an Angel for Birds' says John Abraham

After playing an angel in Strings’ new video ‘Koi Aanay Wala Hai’, Bollywood hunk John Abraham would now once again be seen in the same get up for a new ad for petaDishoom, the youth arm of PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals).

John, who has always been closely associated with PETA, would be seen wearing huge angel wings standing next to the tagline ‘Be an Angel for Birds: Don’t Cage them’. The ad is a still shot taken from the Koi Aanay Wala Hai video. Although the ad is titled ‘Be an Angel for Birds’, petaDishoom wants fans to come up with their original titles. Winners stand a chance to win for themselves autographed CDs of Strings' new album.

Speaking on their association with this noble cause, Faisal. the lead singer of Strings. said “The eco-system of birds is important in preserving the biodiversity of planet Earth and they have as much a right to live as we do” The duo also spoke out against the illegal trafficking of wild animals and animal parts. “The trade of banned animal products is as much due to myth as it is due to ignorance”, says Bilal (guitarist and composer of Strings)

On a closing note, Simran Kodesia of PETA said, “When John Abraham speaks up for animals, young people across India listen. His close association with PETA means that the message of compassion for birds and all other animals will reach more people than ever before”

We don’t disagree on that either.

Riteish Deshmukh, Boman Irani bring the house down at IIFA Awards 2008

At the recently held IIFA awards in Bangkok, the crowd was in splits and it was because of two of the funniest men in Bollywood. Yes Ladies and Gentlemen, we are talking about Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani.

The two actors were hosting the show and did some really hilarious spoofs on some of the latest popular Bollywood films. While their Sarkar act was a complete riot with Riteish dressed as Big B and Boman as AB Jr., even their spoof on Jodhaa Akbar had a lot of people rolling with laughter. To add on, their humorous take on Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor even had Kareena Kapoor guffawing in her seat.

But one person who didn't seem to be pleased with their funny antics was Madame Katrina Kaif. We wonder if its only Sallu's 10 Ka Dum funny antics that make Kat smile. Nevertheless Bollywood's biggest names didn't mind being made fun of, all in good humor.

Priety Zinta back in Action

Preity Zinta has put the highs and lows of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and her Mohali team behind and is busy with as many as four pending films and looks forward to the Bachchans' world tour.

Back to work: After a well-deserved break, Preity is now raring to go. She says, "I didn't realise how much I had put behind. I've so much pending work. Four films are at different stages of completion. I've to immediately start dubbing for Harr Pal and Heroes. Then I leave for the world tour with the Bachchans."

For Prem: In Heroes, she is paired opposite one of her favourite co-stars, Salman Khan. And she has even agreed to do a cameo in the Salman-Kareena Kapoor starrer Main Aur Mrs Khanna. "It's Salman's home production ... and he is a buddy. But it's not an item song but an interesting cameo. And I've agreed to be in the film because the director, Prem Soni, is a dear friend. And since Salman has played Prem so often, let's just say this one is for Prem," she chuckled.

On Deepa Mehta: Preity is also excited about her Punjabi film Heaven On Earth with acclaimed director Deepa Mehta. And the filmmaker has apparently said that Preity is the best actress she has ever worked with.
"I love Deepa for that. When she signed me for the film, she told me she wanted the actress, not the star. That sounded so corny. But when I reached Toronto to shoot Heaven On Earth I knew exactly what she meant. I'm dying to see the complete film," she says.

IPL downside: Looking back on the IPL experience, Preity says – "it was one helluva learning experience".
"It was very annoying to hear rubbish like 'Preity sat on a cricketer's lap'. Does it make any sense for me to make a public spectacle of myself? I mean that's hardly me. I don't sit on people's laps," she remarked.

The Bright side: The actress, who was the co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, stressed that it was a positive experience on the whole. "I learnt a whole new definition of ‘on-field bonding’. As a film actor I've always worked in a team ... but not in this way. Here, on the field I was hands-on.
"I loved the Sri Lankan and Australian boys. Some of the Australians would hardly utter a word. I had to make a special effort to make the younger inexperienced Indian players comfortable. Now I know that having bonded together in spite of being from different spaces, they'd understand team spirit much better."

Her Eq: Preity was unabashedly demonstrative during the games and it got people talking. "I showed my emotions spontaneously. I hugged, I cried and I cheered when I wanted. If that was misconstrued by some, so be it. I was having a good time learning so much about cricket and human behaviour.
"As for the spoilsports, they can't be helped. There were people who cribbed about not being invited to the matches. The IPL experience made me realise who my friends are."

All in the game: Preity admits that there was a sense of loss when her Mohali team lost at the penultimate match in Mumbai, but she still defends her team stoutly.
"I can't say my team played badly at Mumbai. We did go right up to the semi-finals. And that was no mean achievement. Next time we'll go right to the top."

The future: Though next time is far away, Preity says she would be better prepared at that time. "A lot of planning has to be done for the next IPL matches. The first time was a huge learning experience. And we need to make sure we don't make the same mistakes again. I also need to learn how to avoid getting crowded. This time I nearly lost an eye in the jostling. But I thoroughly enjoyed the IPL experience. Being on the field with the boys made me understand the importance of solidarity on the job. I guess it has made me a more mature person," said the actress-entrepreneur.

Abhishek uploads on-the-set pics from Drona onto Facebook

Abhishek Bachchan is super excited about Drona that releases later this year. This will be AB Junior's first release as a solo lead this year, and the project is very close to his heart.

Abhishek was constantly taking pictures on the sets of Shrishti Arya's Drona. Although he isn't a net addict (like his dad), he opened a Drona fanclub on Facebook and uploaded all the pictures on it.

A source adds, "Abhishek has a Facebook account and he's using that to upload candid pictures from the Drona shoot."

It is learnt that even producer Shrishti Arya was surprised to see the photos on the fan page. Says an insider, "Abhishek isn't the sort to join a public forum and start a discussion. This is the first time he's uploaded his personal photos and posted funny comments on them."

These photos have been taken from Abhishek's personal camera during the outdoor shoot in Namibia. "He was a total brat on the sets and took loads of candid pictures of everyone." Apparently, photography is his other big passion, besides acting.

The Drona fanpage also has comments from directors like Farhan Akhtar and others. The actor shows his funny side when he comments on one of his pictures riding in vehicle in a dust storm by saying, "This is proof that I do my own stunts."

The latest photo Abhishek has uploaded is that of his horse Whiskey with whom he would take horse riding lessons in Namibia. It is learnt that Abhishek spends a couple of hours every day uploading his personal photos on the fan page.

Bipasha's Roman affair

Rome:Bipasha Basu has always had a soft spot for Italy. While she had holidayed there in the past, recently she was there for the shoot of Bachna Ae Haseeno.

Bipasha, who is currently shooting for an ad, talks about her Italian eperience, "Rome and Capri are beautiful cities. Last time, I was here on holiday, this time it was for work. Both were trips to remember.

I had so much fun we visited the Vatican, Cherry Fountain, the Lion Fountain at Piazza Del Poppolo, the Colloseum in Rome and many other places."

A shopaholic Bipasha who loves picking up outfits and accessories wherever she goes didn't do much shopping in Italy this time. She says, "I shopped very little. Apart from the fact that Rome is extremely expensive, I have been going easy on what I call my 'fizul kharcha'. I will be doing up my flat from September and am saving every penny for that. I was to design it last year but then I got busy with my commitments."

Apart from that, Bipasha finds the people of Rome friendly and approachable, "The people are wonderful and warm. And they dress impeccably. Italians are very fashion conscious. You won't find any badly dressed Italians on the streets."

Bipasha is also a big fan of the Italian cooking, "Nothing beats pizza, pasta and sea food in Italian cuisine. Their fish and shrimps are fantastic. Of course, I had an interesting experience too.

I had to go in for a root canal and was extremely apprehensive about doing it in Rome. I didn't know the doctor there and he didn't understand a word of English but the operation went off well. He was one of the best dentists of Rome."

Bachna Ae Haseeno also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone and is directed by Siddharth Anand. The film is about a young flirtatious man who carries out his romance with different women till he meets the one he falls in love with.

Harman cutting his T-Shirts

Harman Baweja has a unique way of designing his clothes. He doesn't like tees with closed necks, so he simply cuts off the round necks to make them wider. He's taken it a step further and has worn the cut-off necks in his next flick Victory.

According to a source from the unit, "Everyone on the sets was surprised on seeing the lead actor coolly take a pair of scissors and cut off the round neck of all his tees he was supposed to wear for the film."

Harman laughs, Yes. I have been cutting my T-shirts ever since I can remember. I just don't like the entire look of tees with round necks. I don't feel comfortable in them, so I buy them and cut off the necks."

It's a Harman trademark? He retorts, "I don't know whether it's a trademark or no but it has more to do with comfort factor than style factor."

He admits that he took a scissor to his Victory clothes as well, "Initially, my director was shocked when he saw the scissors in my hand and cutting the shooting clothes. But after I wore the tees, he quite liked it and I am wearing the abruptly cut round necks in many of the scenes."

International premieres of 'Love Story 2050'

LOVE STORY 2050 is going places… literally! That the makers have spared no efforts to give the film an international look is known by now. But here's the latest! The film will have international premieres as well, thereby taking the film to the international audience.

“Right now, we've confirmed London. We're also looking at Dubai and Toronto, but have yet to take a call,” Saurabh Varma, Chief Marketing Officer of Reliance Big Pictures confirms, “There's so much happening, plus the last-minute promotions… all this might take away a lot of time of the actors, I suspect,” Saurabh adds.

Meanwhile, lead man Harman Baweja hasn't limited himself to facing the camera only. He is simultaneously looking into promotions, post-production and all marketing exercises. Wow!

The big clash

This is a real Exclusive and as always, it's first on Bollywood Buzz.

July 4 is one crucial date. Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan and Harry Baweja's son Harman Baweja are keeping their fingers crossed for their debut films, JAANE TU YA JAANE NA and LOVE STORY 2050, respectively.

“I'm already getting the jitters. I wouldn't deny, I am feeling more and more nervous as the release dates draws nearer,” Harman confides. But Imran is feeling exactly the opposite. “I'm not feeling nervous or anxious. In fact, I am not experiencing anything that would tense me up. Perhaps, I may experience varied emotions as the release date draws closer,” Imran tells me.

What about the big clash, the battle royale? “Listen, the business is sure to be divided. Imagine placing two mugs of coffee in front of you. The viewer has a choice. If both taste good, I'm sure he'd relish both,” Harman has a point. Imran, again, feels differently. “Why is the media hell-bent on creating a war of sorts? It has been proved in the past that two good films can co-exist in one week. And I'm sure both will co-exist,” he speaks his mind.

However, both Harman and Imran admit they'd love to watch the other's films. And that's something that needs to be appreciated!

"Critics may have their own views" - Ritesh Deshmukh

De Taali may not have set the box office on fire but amongst the three movies which came last Friday, it is still being the best of the lot. Also, as have been the feelers for this romantic comedy, the film is giving itself a fighting chance at the theaters.

"I am surprised to hear conflicting reports about the film. A few trade sources haven't been too kind in stating the box office prospects of the film but there are other industry sources who are maintaining that De Taali should do well to come out unscathed", says Ritiesh Deshmukh who, once again has managed to steal the show from right under everyone's nose.

How about the below the par reviews that film has got?

"I don't agree that everyone has gone ahead and ripped apart the film", rightly defends Riteish, "Yes, some critics have been unhappy about the film's execution. They are asking questions as to why the trio of friends (Aftab, Ayesha and myself) have been acting like 12 year olds. But hey, that's exactly the point, you know! We play a bunch of youngsters who meet each other as 12 year olds and ever since then have been happy to stay on in the same time warp. That's the entire idea of friendship in De Taali.

"Still, I am not judging the critics here", continues Riteish, "They may have their own views. See, there are so many others who have indeed liked the film as well. To each his own. And at the end of the day, it all boils down to whether the film is working with audience or not. As per the information which I have gathered from impartial and neutral sources, it is doing well with the youth with every passing day. The film may not have done great business on the first day but it is the kind that would sustain well as days pass by."

Tell him that this time around, even Rimmi Sen has gathered quite a few accolades for her performance in the film along with him and he says in a delighted tone, "See, I had said even earlier that it is Rimmi's character who brings the twist in the plot. In the absence of her character, there wouldn't have been De Taali. I am glad she got a well written part to enact where she has been appreciated for her performance. She deserves it!"

Priyanka collapses

In an industry where most actors are known for their unprofessional attitude, Priyanka Chopra sticks out like a sore thumb. For the last fortnight, a tiring schedule of a shift and a half every day for Karan Johar’s Dostana, coupled by the promotional campaign for Love Story 2050 has taken a toll on the health of this very fit and healthy heroine.

Shooting in Film City over the weekend, Piggy Chops had a bad attack of asthma. Inspite of her ill health, the actress continued shooting as the schedule was a packed one and on that particular day she was shooting with the entire cast of Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Boman Irani and Kirron Kher. By evening, a concerned boyfriend, Harman Baweja visited the set with a doctor in tow as Priyanka had collapsed. The medico gave her an injection and some medicines and after some time, a very fresh looking Priyanka strolled into the set to give her shot.

Concerned about her, Tarun Mansukhani the director called for an early pack up but not before he canned one steadycam shot with Priyanka. But the day had not ended for Piggy Chops. Since she had called a media unit to shoot an interview for Love Story 2050, she insisted on finishing that before she left Film City in her white Mercedes.

An exasperated Mickey Contractor, who has been doing her make up retorted, “She is not silly, but stupid. Her professional attitude will be the death of her.”

All Priyanka had to say was, “I could not cancel the interview since they had come all the way to shoot and it is not nice to disappoint people.”

No wonder there are so many big banners working with her. With an attitude like that Priyanka Chopra not only won the respect of her colleagues but also of the media people. Something that is really hard to win.

Ranbir and Deepika's Sydney escapades!

Ranbir Kapoor is quite a prankster and he didn’t even spare girlfriend Deepika when it came to doing so! During their stay in Sydney for the shoot of Bachna Eh Haseeno Ranbir played various pranks on her and his co-star Hiten Paintal, son of veteran comedian Paintal.

Director Siddharth Anand was no different. He too befriended Ranbir and Hiten and made the women suffer!

However Deepika was not the one to fall prey to her beau’s pranks all the time! She played a trick to ensure that Ranbir too gets a taste of his own medicine!

“All three of us - Deepika, me and Ranbir were traveling in a car in Sydney. Ranbir was sitting in the front, Deepika and I were on the back seat. Deepika found an excellent opportunity to get back at Ranbir. She took a paper, rolled it and started to scratch Ranbir’s ear with it. He was half asleep and gave Deepika a warning that she should stop doing that. She acted as if nothing had happened in the first place! She posed as if she was on the phone! Next, I repeated her act and both of took turns to make break Ranbir’s sleep! Everytime Ranbir looked behind to check on us we’d look outside the window or would break into a deep conversation with each other! After a while Ranbir actually started to believe that he was in his dreams and that it was not happening in reality! In fact he still believes that he was just imaging it”, said an excited Hiten as he tried to control his laughter!

Hiten further added, “All three of us - Me, Ranbir and Deepika had a fantastic time in Sydney, Switzerland and Bangkok where we’ve shot the film. In fact all three of us are flying to Bangkok tomorrow to finish the shoot of the film which will be done by next week. My dad and chintuji (Rishi Kapoor) are good friends and am glad Ranbir and I too get along like a house on fire.”

We are dying to see Ranbir’s second film too Hiten!

"My first day of work has been chopped off" - Harman Baweja

'One shouldn't get attached to the work you have done when it comes to filmmaking'

Well, self-admittedly Harman Baweja has learnt it the hard way. Even though he slogged it out in a big way to get his opening scene for his debut film Love Story 2050 just perfect, he was forced to swallow down his hurt when it was informed to him that the scene would not make it to the final cut.

Wasn't he disappointed? "Who won't be, you tell me,” questions Harman who still seems to be hurt about the fact even though the scene was canned months back, "No other scene can replicate the sense of the very first one that you shoot for. And to think of it, it required me to literally go through the grind due to extreme weather situation."

Really? "Yes,” says Harman whose debut vehicle is now less than a fortnight away from being unleashed on the big screen, "There I was in Australia where I was sitting on a yacht in the middle of the ocean. It was windy, temperature was around 8 degrees Celsius, and I was, believe it or not, completely drenched. Since there were quite a few takes required for the shot, I had to wet myself down repeatedly. From warm to cold to warm and so on, it indeed took a toll."

It must have been heartbreaking once the newsbreak about the scene being omitted was shared with him. "Of course yes,” promptly replies Harman, "It is after all your first day of work, and I not just stood there for the shot but also mouthed a few dialogues. It just taught me that one can't really get attached to one's work. It is situations like these which make you understand what filmmaking is all about and how you have to move on and give your best to every scene that you shoot for."

He concludes on a lighter note with a hearty laugh, "Considering how windy and cold it was when the scene was canned, perhaps dad (Harry Baweja) would have thought of it being a 'cold performance' indeed and hence chopped off the scene."

Vivek is unhappy with his role in 'Mission Istanbul'

Reportedly, Vivek Oberoi is not too happy with his role in Apoorva Lakhia's upcoming film, Mission Istanbul. The latest is that Oberoi and Lakhia have fallen apart completely.

Now, Oberoi is not on talking terms with Lakhia, who gave him a new lease of life with Shootout At Lokhandwala at a time he most needed.

However, Oberoi has not stopped shooting with Lakhia and is completing the film in all respects. Says a source, "Oberoi is a professional and he is going through the remaining work on the film quite smoothly."

Talking about the equation between Lakhia and Oberoi reaching an all-time low, our says, "The problem started sometime ago when Oberoi suddenly started feeling that Zayed Khan has been given more importance in the film and its publicity, and thus, a cold war ensued.

Lakhia and Oberoi did not mingle much at an awards event held in Bangkok in the first week of June. The two also had a confrontation recently."

So, what exactly overturned the boat completely? Our source reveals, " Oberoi called up Sunil Shetty (co-producer of Mission Istanbul) to complain and that was the last straw.

He complained that he deserved more prominence in the publicity as he is a bigger star than Zayed Khan.

Naturally, Lakhia felt terribly upset at Oberoi's whining."

When contacted, Oberoi said, "I am shooting for my solo song (a follow up on Ae Ganpat song) on Apu's set at the Film City and we are having a blast."

Apparently wanting to safeguard his film, Lakhia was only slightly forthcoming. He said, "Mission Istanbul has two lead actors, and we are publicising it accordingly. Oberoi has not spoken about his discomfort to me yet."

We then contacted Shabbir Boxwalla (Director of Shetty's company, Popcorn Productions) who said that they could have even included Shetty in the publicity campaign since he also has a role in the film.

He said, "But Sunil didn't think that was necessary since his role is not a big one. Mission Istanbul is a film where both Oberoi and Zayed have equally good roles and hence they both are in every frame of the publicity together."

When told that Oberoi had complained to Shetty about his star status being sidelined, Boxwalla shot back, "Everybody is a star. You get to know the real star only on a Friday."

Mission Istanbul is being co-produced by Popcorn Productions and Balaji Telefilms.

Not without my shampoo

Bangkok: Trouble appears to strike Tusshar Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor simultaneously. After their Bangkok traffic jam scare ('Stuck? Take a tuk tuk'; June 12), the duo faced problems at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi international airport on June 17.

Tusshar recalls, "I had been travelling continuously for three days. I arrived in Mumbai on June 15, shot for Life Partner and flew off to Bangkok the next morning for Golmaal Returns. Since I had to come back on the 17th, I only carried my handbag with me with essential accessories like shampoo, conditioner, one set of clothes, make-up remover and hair accessories as I have darkened my hair in Golmaal Returns."
Bebo was also travelling on the same flight.

When the two Kapoors reached the airport they went through agonising moments. "The airport authorities confiscated my shampoo, conditioner and make-up remover as they are not allowed on the flight.

I hate losing things because you don't get the same brands everywhere. I was only allowed to keep my clothes and some other essentials. Bebo had some yoghurt containers which she had to throw away as they thought what we were carrying could be dangerous! Can you believe that?" Tusshar laughs.

Once they landed, they headed to the set of Golmaal Returns. "We shot the title promotional song. We stayed at the Royal Cliff Hotel and every night, we had a party binging on Japanese, Chinese and Indian food. There was an Indian cook who made mutton raan for us one night. In the morning we would all work out with Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Tanisha joining us."

First Look at 3 Idiots

Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Madhavan and Boman Irani has gone on the floors. The film is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone. The first teaser poster of the film is out and has a huge blackboard with mathematical formulae scribbled on it.

Sources reveal that Hirani doesn't want to give away the look of his protagonists soon, which is why the teaser doesn't have any of the actors in it. However, work on the film is underway and Hirani plans to wrap 3 Idiots by December.

The source adds, "The shoot of the film with the supporting characters has already begun, Hirani and his team are in Simla and the film is scheduled to be shot in Ladakh, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai as well. Aamir and rest of the cast will begin shooting in early September."

Shantanu Moitra has given the music for 3 Idiots while the lyrics are by Swanand Kirkire.

Apparently, author Chetan Bhagat was the first to see the poster and quite liked the final result. "Since the setting is that of an engineering college campus the poster had to have elements of a classroom."

The poster has been designed by Rahul Nanda.

Is Preity on verge of a break-up

Cracks are apparently showing in the so far hunky-dory relationship between Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia.

Rumour is that the pert Bollywood actress, who has been dating the suave industrialist son of Maureen and Nusli Wadia for the past few years, is reportedly on the verge of another break-up.

And the reason being given by Bollywood insiders is Preity’s popularity and apparent rise on the social circuit as co-owner of Team Mohali during the recent IPL cricket tournament.

That, plus her seeming fondness for Team Mohali’s casanova skipper Yuvraj Singh appears not to have gone down too well with her reticent beau. Further, Ness’s investment in the IPL also reportedly suffered a beating and what the Wadia scion’s views on this must be is anybody’s guess.

That there are regular spats between the feisty Preity and quiet Ness is known. But as for the recent controversy, the actress who is back to work and dubbing for Jahnu Barua’s film Har Pal in addition to attending rehearsals for the Bachchans’s world tour, said heatedly, “What rumours are you talking about? Which couple doesn’t have its ups and downs? Ness and I are no exception. You don’t go ahead and break-up just because you fight.”

marriage is not even a talking point in her life currently. “Even my family is not concerned about my marriage. It’s not happening in the near future,” retorted the actress shortly. As for Yuvraj Singh, the industry grapevine suggests a flirtatious liaison between the dashing cricketer and pretty actress did flicker briefly during the IPL but has died down now. Neither will talk about it, of course.

Sherlyn ka 'dard'

While I was sitting at the drawing room of Bollywood's wannabe starlet Sherlyn Chopra, my eyes caught the attention of her childhood photographs, placed artistically on her pin board. For a while I was a bit confused, and mistook those chubby cheeks baby as someone else.

While sipping brewing black coffee, she looked at the photograph and said, "That's me. I have not allowed anyone at my place, so people have not noticed this. Not many people know that I used to be a chubby kid," says Sherlyn.

"When kids of my age got all the attention at birthday parties, I would be cornered. I used to look at those pretty girls and ask my mother why I was not as pretty as they were? Why was I so fat?

My mother would embrace me and explain that I was the prettiest. As a kid I believed her, but soon I realised that it was a sweet lie.

When I planned to join the world of glamour, everyone in my family and my relatives made a huge mockery of it. They thought, with a face and a figure like this I could not be a star. They were correct, so I had to defy the rules of nature and fight my own battle," she says.

Sherlyn's battle was with her bulges, and she started grooming herself, "I won a beauty pageant as Miss Andhra Pradesh, but I knew for a fact that this title would not fetch me a ticket to Bollywood. I was far below standard compared to Bollywood's standard. It was then that I thought of going through liposuction. I had to reduce weight, and my doctor helped me get a body I'd dreamt of," she admits without any qualms.

While most of these stars are following rigorous diets and reduce weight healthily, why did she opt for an operation? "You must be kidding me!" she chuckles. "You think they lose weight by just following diet charts? Then the doctors would have starved to death. In fact most of them have gone under scissors. Some are courageous enough to talk about it, while others pretend to be morally correct," she adds.

But it seems that you are hogging publicity by saying that you have undergone liposuction. Is this true? "Please contact my doctor Hemant Kumar. He is a Hyderbad-based surgeon. If you are sweet to him, he might give you the intricate details of the surgical procedure, not only the date and duration of surgery, the cost of surgery and the amount of fat sucked out," she replies. But why does she choose to talk so openly about liposuction, when it's not really the right way to lose weight?

"Mujhe jo sahi lagta hai main woh karti hoon. Getting liposuction done is not the same thing as getting an abortion done. One can do any damn thing with one's body fat as long as one is in the hands of medical experts," she makes it clear.

Currently, Sherlyn is busy with her latest music video Dard-e-Sherlyn. "That's something close to my heart. My first music video Outrageous did fantastic business and then Bhushan Kumar from T-Series wanted to come up with another album. This time, it's a Bollywood remix. I have written and composed the English track in the song. The video is choreographed by Remo," she informs.

It seems that the video is a tribute to Hema Malini. "Yes, but it was not intentional. I mean, I wanted a few really gripping lines which would speak about my 'dard'. The album is in English, but I have used a few lines from Hemaji's 'dard' song from the film Dus Numbri, which was sung by Asha Bhonsle. Keeping Hemaji's sensuality in mind, I have tried to do something Indian in this music video," adds Sherlyn.

Much has been written about her role in Yash Chopra's next starring Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherji to be directed by Anurag Singh. It is believed that she has blink and a miss role. "Why would they want me to take a month long workshop session for a 'blink and you'll miss' role," she smiles.

It seems that when someone from Yashraj saw Sherlyn Chopra, they were astounded. They thought that she was anorexic. "Now, that came like a surprise for me too. While they have asked most of their actresses to lose weight, I think I am the only one whom they have asked to put on some meat," she laughs.

Hrithik is training to speak heavy American twang for Anurag Basu’s Kites

After mouthing perfect Urdu for his character as the Mughal Emperor Akbar in Jodhaa Akbar, Hrithik is now set to speak in a heavy American twang in Anurag Basu’s Kites.

The method actor that he is, Hrithik is known for always doing something different in each of his films for which he takes prior training.

Says a source close to the film, “Hrithik plays an interesting role opposite Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut for which he needs to speak in a heavy American accent.

Moreover, it’s a bilingual film for the foreign audience so Hrithik wanted to make sure that he adopted an authentic American accent to sound convincing.”

“After discussing the script, director Anurag Basu decided that Hrithik will need a tutor who will teach him how to speak in the correct accent. He immediately got a tutor on board to train Hrithik, before they could start shooting for the film.

Since the past few days, the tutor goes to Hrithik's home at Juhu every day and trains him for over an hour. It’s a tedious process as Hrithik has to continuously repeat, recite and vocally rehearse long paragraphs continuously,” adds the source.

The Roshans have planned to make Kites an international project and are making sure that every aspect of the film is at par with international standards including the way the hero of the film speaks in English.

“Hrithik has still not met his Latin heroine Barbara Mori. He will be joining her next month in America where they will shoot for three months.

As Barbara hasn’t met Hrithik she has been given the DVDs of Hrithik’s film like Krrish and Dhoom 2 to get acquainted with his working style,” says the source.

It is also learnt that Hrithik’s wife Susanne and his two sons will also be accompanying the actor on the outdoor schedule of the film.

Sanju loses 26 kgs!

Sanjay Dutt has taken to fitness like a duck takes to water. The actor has lost 26 kgs (yeah, you read that right) for his action-packed thriller Blue, which is being produced by Ashtavinayak.

Dutt is currently in the Bahamas shooting for the film, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone. Manyata is also with Sanjay in the Bahamas.

A source says, “It was extremely important for Sanjay to lose a lot of weight after he came out of prison where he had developed a double chin and a big paunch.”

So how did Sanju lose that much weight? Hollywood trainer Lawrence, who has flown in from Los Angeles, has been training Sanjay.

It is believed that the actor earlier wanted Mark Twight, who trained the cast of the war epic 300, but Mark was busy with other commitments. That's how Lawrence came into the picture.

Our source adds, “Sanjay hits the gym for two hours twice a day. Above all, he is completely off alcohol. It may be recalled that Sanjay was the first actor to focus on fitness.

Remember his physique in Subhash Ghai's Khalnayak? He is getting back to his earlier fit self.”

And what about his diet? “Almost 90 per cent of Sanjay's diet comprises fish dishes,” says the source.

When contacted, Sanjay's close friend Dharam Oberoi (CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions) who is with him in the Bahamas confirmed the story. He says, “Yes, Dutt Sir has lost 26 kgs in the past few months.

He is looking very lean and fit now. Currently, he is shooting for some very tough underwater scenes.”

Sanjay, Manyata and Dharam Oberoi will return to Mumbai on July 2.

‘I don’t need to apologise to SRK'

On the 28th floor of a plush South Mumbai hotel (where he’s temporarily shifted as he’s shooting nearby for Ghajini), Aamir Khan’s suite has a breathtaking view of the sea.

The inhabitant is no less breathtaking as far as his achievements are concerned. Aamir is ready to field the questions...

Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (Aamir Khan Productions) was earlier supposed to be produced by some other banner.
Yes, it was being produced by Jhamu Sugandh. There was some trouble there. Abbas Tyrewala (director) told me that it might not take off. That’s when I pitched in, not because I wanted to help them out—professionally, I don’t help anyone but because I loved the script.

You’ve said that your nephew Imran Khan (debuting in Jaane Tu) is better than you.
He is certainly better looking than me. He is far better in his first film than I was in mine. He is raw just as I was but he is more unusual.

Your blog speaking about Shah Rukh Khan received a lot of flak. Do you regret that?
I don’t regret it at all. It was done in good humour. I am the kind of person I am. Shah Rukh and I share a very good relationship. What’s nice about it is that we feel comfortable enough to joke about each other. Some of my fans have felt that I shouldn’t have written that. I’m sorry about that.

Did you apologise to SRK?
No, I don’t need to. He doesn’t need to apologise to me after joking about me. I know he means well. I like that he feels free to joke about me.

At the recent IIFA event you were made fun of. People still can’t digest the fact that you don’t attend award ceremonies.
I’ve nothing personal against award ceremonies. Next month, I’ll be going to Chennai to receive an award that they give to debutant directors. I value it. Likewise, I recently received the Dinanath Mangeshkar award, because I have high regard for the organisation and the people involved.

How do you decide which award to value?
If it comes from an organisation, which really knows cinema! You see the record of people who have received the awards in the past and you know.

Do you value the National Awards? Are you looking to win one for Taare Zameen Par?
Yes, I do. I do hope to win it. Though there have been inconsistencies and controversies reported around the National Awards, it’s an award I like to recognise and respect. The President of India presents them away. It still has credibility.

You are releasing Jaane Tu with Harry Baweja’s Love 2050 even though he requested you to postpone it. Why?
Yes, he did request me. But we thought this was the right time to release as colleges are reopening. It’s that kind of a film. I wish Harry all the best. I think Harman is very good.

Someone who has always shied away, why are you throwing such a huge premiere party for the entire industry?
I wanted to have a premiere for TZP also but was running against time. This an important moment for our family. There are lot of people my uncle (late filmmaker Nasir Husain, Imran’s grandfather) had close associations with. Uncle is not with us but this would have been a happy moment for him. I’d like to invite all his colleagues and my friends.

Preity Zinta's 'Unforgettable' tour

Bollywood actor Preity Zinta feels she will not be overshadowed by the presence of the Bachchans --Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya-- during their "Unforgettables" concert beginning July 18.

"It is a fact that the show is a Bachchan family show as there are three of them. I am friends with them and have enjoy working with Amitji and Abhishek. Aishwarya is a friend," Preity told reporters here.

The actor said the tour has come at an opportune time for her as she needed to unwind from the hectic IPL season. According to her, the unique concept of the guest stars has been introduced for the first time.

"I know Akshay Kumar well. Madhuri Dixit is my senior while I will get to know Shilpa Shetty well on the UK leg of the tour. I think I will have fun," she said.

Preity said audiences are sure to witness an exciting show. Shiamak Davar's choreography is visually strong and powerful. "It will have the feel of a Broadway musical," she said.

“Vidya took more than 25 takes"

Vidya Balan had a tough time matching steps with Shahid Kapur while shooting a dance number for the promotional video of Kismet Konnection.

It took more than 25 takes before one single dance step could be finalised . The sensuous number, choreographed by Ahmed Khan, required Vidya to pirouette in high heels, and she was clearly ill at ease. A source who was present on the sets said, “Vidya took more than 25 takes to get her moves right. She had never done such a dance number before. To top it all, she had to wear high heels.” Choreographer Ahmed jumped to Vidya’s defense and said, “Even though she had a difficult time keeping up with a super-swift Shahid, she did not request me to change the steps. Besides, this is the first time that she was shooting a racy, Western number.” Well, let’s wait and watch to see how nimble Vidya’s feet are...

Bachchan gifts Dutt a 50-lakh ki ghadi!

Amitabh Bachchan loves gifting things to people. Last year, he gave Shah Rukh Khan a Dolce & Gabbana jacket along with a pen. Last week, AB gifted Sanjay Dutt a designer watch the platinum Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, which costs over 50 lakhs!

Everyone knows Sanju has a weakness for expensive watches and fast cars. But what's the reason behind this no-reason gift? Sanju's birthday isn't till next month. His shaadi was over three months ago, why the gift now?

Says a source close to Sanju, "Amitabh Bachchan is planning to revive his production company AB Corp soon and will come out with more than a couple of productions per year.

He can't feature himself, Abhishek and Aishwarya for all the films. The Big B will require other actors and actresses to act in his productions. So he has been wooing various artists in B-Town.

Both Amitabh and Abhishek have always been very fond of Sanjay Dutt and are aware of his BO appeal and star status so they are very keen that he acts in their films. This is perhaps a goodwill gesture. Even Bachchan will be acting in Sanju's productions."

As Sanju had already left for the Bahamas for Ashtavinayak's Blue, Sanju's trusted lieutenant and the CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions, Dharam Oberoi, left for the Bahamas to personally deliver the watch to Sanju on Wednesday.

Sanju was naturally thrilled and excited to receive a gift from someone like Bachchan whom he's always considered a father figure."
Amitabh Bachchan remained unavailable for comment.

Mallika's Crazy act

A lot happens while shooting for a film.

Actor Ranvir Shorey was recently taken for quite a ride by the hot and sexy Mallika Sherawat on the sets of Ugly Aur Pagli. Ranvir was to ride a scooter in the flick, and had to take a couple of retakes because he was riding a bit too slowly. Mallika decided to ‘handle’ the situation and opted to show Ranvir how a two-wheeler ought to be ridden. So while Ranvir sat pillion, Mallika zoomed off, only to return about 20 minutes later with a frazzled Ranvir. “Mallika knew how to ride the bike, and rode it at a great speed but mid-way asked Ranvir how to halt the ‘bloody thing’,” said a source. Okay, now we understand Ranvir’s scared, wide-eyed look.

I want to work with Akshay, says Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra gushes about Akki even as she opens up about beau Harman and her upcoming releases

Priyanka Chopra is a busy girl. Apart from shooting with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham for Dostana at Film City, the actress is also busy promoting her upcoming release Love Story 2050. With six releases lined up over the next two years, Priyanka has no time to spare.

Here are excerpts of a conversation with Piggy Chops as she giggles (when asked her about Harman), stares (when Salman Khan is mentioned) and looks blank (when asked if she’s the highest paid actress). Read on...

How was the Miami schedule of Dostana?
I was there for two months and it was amazing fun. It was like a big family reunion. My masi, my nani and my cousins were there. For me, it was like a summer vacation. I’d shoot from 9 to 6 and then hit the gym. It was quite chilled out.

You are the only girl in the film. Comment.
There were loads of boys on the set. The only thing we ended up doing was going to the gym. Not just Abhishek and John, but the entire cast and crew. I also love going shopping, so that’s what I did. I bought shoes for myself and loads of other things for my family.

You’ve worn a swimsuit in the film?
You will have to watch the film to figure that out. If beach wear is required, then its fine by me. I believe there has to be a reason to wear something. Also you have to be comfortable. In Don, Zeenat Aman had worn it, and we did the same because it worked.

What about liplocking on screen?
I haven’t done it yet so I don’t have a take. It has to be that kiss that brings me to life or something. Nobody’s asked me to do it till now. You can’t randomly do kiss, it should be an eternal kiss.

Do you have a strategy in choosing the films?
I always maintain I only do films which I would to watch. By god’s grace, I am in a position where I can pick and choose my roles. It’s not a just a great part that matters to me. I have seen films with the best part written for actresses which have not done well because the entire package didn’t work. Eventually, it has to be the film that has to work. It could be a 20-minute part for me in the movie but if the movie works in entirety, I’ll give my heart and soul in those 20 minutes.

What’s your take on actresses charging big money?
I believe that when it comes to fees, its private and not anybody’s business. It’s my approach, I have always been involved with my work and don’t have time to follow other people’s careers. I have a three-film deal with UTV and if tomorrow something comes up to me, I will take it.

You haven’t worked with Yash Raj Films yet.
Everyone would want to work with them (Yash Raj Films), but I have done decently well without that too. It’s not about the camp you work with, but giving a string of hits and that’s what matters. For example, Akshay Kumar didn’t work with Yash Raj until recently and it didn’t affect him. He’s still one of the biggest actors in the industry. If it’s meant to be, it will be.

You don’t belong to any camp. Comment.
When you don’t come from a film line, it’s easier for you because you are treated as a professional. I come to work at 9 in the morning, and go back home at 10 in the night. When I leave the set, I disassociate myself from work. I do have friends in the industry, and there are people I get along with. But I am not here to make friends. That’s just a part and parcel of the kind of work I do. I am here to work. I never think being a part of a camp will help you succeed. You have to be able to work with everyone and make good friends.

Except Fashion, you don’t have any two-heroine project…
Well, I never realised that until you mentioned it. I think the last film I did with another female actress was Aitraaz. It’s not a part that I think about. It’s the overall project that always appeals to me.

Madhur’s film has three characters, so was that a concern?
It’s about three people and all of us have great roles. It took a long time for me to agree to do Fashion. It took a lot of time for me to figure out what I am doing in it, but I am totally convinced in the way it shaped up.

Are you happy with the way Love Story shaped up?
It’s a milestone movie for Indian films because we haven’t seen these kind of visuals, special effects in any other film till now. Whether it does well or not, it’s the destiny of the film.

Have you and Harman made a conscious effort not to talk about your relationship because of its effect on 2050?
Yes, we believe that the film is big and beyond all this. These rumours have been going on for the last three years, when the film hadn’t even started. I don’t give justifications for my private life.

Harman feels a certain section wants to sabotage 2050 by comparing him to Hrithik. Comment.
Hrithik made his own space after his first film and hopefully, Harman will do the same after his. Every actor is compared to someone or the other. Hrithik was compared to Shah Rukh, Shah Rukh was compared to Dilip Kumar, Shahid Kapur was compared to Shah Rukh. Being compared with Hrithik has its pros and cons. Pro is that you are being compared to one of the country’s biggest superstars and the con being it takes away credit of what you have done with your hard work. You are putting a newcomer on par with a superstar and that’s unfair because people will start expecting him to be in a certain way.

You and Lara started off at the same time, but you’ve raced ahead…
My mom used to quote this saying (and I believe in this) waqt se pehle aur kismat se zyada kisiko kabhi kuch nahi milta. Lara is very talented, speaks well and is someone I admire in the industry. She was very kind to me in my early phase. That’s something I’ll never forget. I don’t see a comparison because we started out together.

Katrina was voted as #1 sexiest Asian in a recent list by FHM, while you are on #8. Your reaction?
I think if I was a politician, it would mean a lot more to me. If I had given seven duds in a row or my films didn’t perform to my expectations, I would be depressed. I don’t give any importance to being on some list. It is part and parcel of the job but it isn’t the end of it.

Would you do a reality show on television?
I don’t know. Only if it’s something exciting.

Would you be a guest on Salman’s show 10 Ka Dum?
Why wouldn’t I? It’s a fun show. I haven’t seen 10 Ka Dum but I have seen the trailers and the hoardings and it looks different.

Akshay has said he’s open to work with you, do you feel the same?
I would love to work with him. Akshay Kumar has been someone I have always been fond of. A lot of what I am today has been taught to me by him. I have to give him a lot of credit for the way I treat my job and the professional that I am. I was very young when I started, so he taught me a lot about film making and the industry. But if it comes to do a film, then it has to be the entire project, I can’t do it just because of Akshay it has to be a well-rounded film. I would love to be a part of something that excites both of us.

Akshay and Dogg to shoot a video

Akshay Kumar is getting his kicks.

And this time it’s not with the martial arts at which he’s an expert, but rather with the kind of company he’s keeping.

BT had broken the news about his collaboration with American hip-hop superstar Snoop Dogg (who pioneered the ascendance of West Coast ‘g-funk’ rap) on a track for Vipul Shah’s Singh is Kinng. Now, the ante is upped by two steps. Snoop Dogg (also behind albums like Doggystyle and Tha Blue Carpet Treatment) and Akshay will shoot a video for the song at the cost of almost Rs 7 crores.

“The video is being shot by Snoop Dogg’s team and will be lavish. There hasn’t been this kind of collaboration between a big international music artist and Bollywood. If you see it in a wider context, this is very important synergy. The video and song will be on mainstream music platforms across the globe. Snoop’s presence will mean the audience base is much larger,” said Shah.

Has Snoop seen any of Akshay’s moves? “Yes, he has seen videos of Akshay’s dances and is very excited,” stated Shah. Meanwhile, Akshay is chuffed at the project himself. “The song has really turned out very well and I like it very much. It will be fun to shoot the video with a rapper of Snoop Dogg’s calibre. I have seen his videos and he is very impressive,” said Akshay.
Snoop was unavailable for comment, but a spokesperson for the superstar said, “Our entire team is is thrilled about the video as it will be something new for all of us. It will have Bollywood elements and we have seen a lot of Akshay Kumar’s songs to prepare for it.”

Spotted: See who we bumped into!

Guess who's back? Back again …No we aren't in a Slim Shady mood this Friday morning. It's just that we couldn't believe our eyes when we spotted this actor last night. After all it's been ages since one has seen or for that matter even heard of him. For all those of you who are still wondering who we are talking about, the person is none other than actor Harish who starred in films like Prem Qaidi, Coolie No.1, Tirangaa, Army etc.

For nearly a decade this actor has been completely absconding and after years of searching him, it was quite a pleasant surprise to see him strolling around at the premiere of a seedy flick Memsahab- Lost in a Mirage. We wonder if Harish, who was seen in many C-grade potboilers of the late 90's is slowly planning a comeback. After all everyone's welcome in Bollywood.

Kareena: Around the world in 365 days

Bebo whizzed into Mumbai to spend time with neice, Samaira; will catch up with Saif in London soon

Kareena Kapoor has been shooting round the clock. First it was for Sohail Khan’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna in Australia, thereafter she headed to Bangkok for IIFA in and then to Pattaya for Golmaal Returns. But the actress, who is devoted to her niece, Samaira Kapur (sister Karisma and brother-in-law Sanjay’s daughter), flew in from for three days to spend three days with her.

Says Kareena, “I have been in Australia shooting for MAMK since over a month. After IIFA, I went to Phuket for the shooting of Golmaal Returns and Head & Shoulders ad. I missed Samaira and Lolo (her sister, Karisma) terribly so I flew all the way back to Mumbai for two days on June 17 to see my niece and sis. I was dying to give Samaira a hug and cuddle. Mom (Babita) was there in Melbourne with me but I haven’t seen Sam and Lolo in a long time.”

Kareena left Mumbai last night to head to Amsterdam for a show with Shah Rukh Khan. Adds Kareena, “After the show I will go to London and spend a few days with Saif there while he’s shooting for his home production and after that, I fly off to Los Angeles for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakht Ishq. Once that is complete, there is no break for me. After I return in August, I start shooting for Raju Hirani’s next with Aamir.”

Saif is miserable in London without Bebo. Kareena laughs, “We are missing each other. I haven’t met Saif since IIFA, where we met for only three hours. Now I will spend a couple of days with him in London after the Amsterdam show and that time will be ours alone...”

Kareena has no regrets about Tashan unlike co-stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. She says, “My performance was appreciated and my looks and styling were the most talked about. My figure became a debate for national news! I am happy Tashan and what it gave me. Films doing or not doing well doesn’t affect me. Success and failures are a part and process of life. Today I have the best lineup of films and it can’t get better. I am happy with life…”

Dia attends egg-breaking fest in Bangkok

Dia Mirza helped give birth to a crocodile! The actress attended the croc egg-breaking festival at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Bangkok recently.

“It was indeed a strange experience,” says Dia, currently shooting for Suparn Verma’s Acid Factory in Hyderabad. “You don’t normally have reptiles in your palms and here I was, holding a baby croc.”

The actress took part in the egg-breaking festival as part of the recent IIFA weekend in Bangkok. “There were scores of croc eggs, most of them already cracked. Along with the caretaker, I had to get the baby crocodile out of the shell and cut the umbilical cord. Then we have to bathe them in warm water!”

It isn’t as easy as it sounds. Says Dia, “First the eggs are all sticky and full of goo. Then the baby croc that pops out is smeared in blood. So you can well imagine what it is like handling all this stuff. And to think that you’re handling a crocodile, so what if it is a newborn!”

She describes this birth experience, where she had to sanitise her hands before the delivery, as “an eerie feeling. I helped in giving birth to one croc and that was enough for me!”

Rani whistled for Rakhi!

Rani Mukerjee, best known for her ‘reserved behaviour’ in the industry was surprisingly at her friendliest best recently!

The leading actress of the Hindi film industry was invited to judge the grand finale of reality show ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’. The actress who initially sported a lovely black outfit then changed into her ‘angel avataar’ for the final presentation and didn’t mind shaking her leg briefly on the song ‘Nihal Ho gayi’ from her forthcoming film ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’, just for her fans and the show’s contestants!

A senior producer of the show revealed, “We had heard so many things about Rani’s reticence and reserved behaviour that we were a little apprehensive to even speak to her initially! However, the moment she stepped into our studio, she made sure that everybody was at ease with her! Not just onscreen, Rani waited backstage to wish the contestants before their performances and even posed comfortably with her fans for pictures! She showed no signs of being a superstar... no starry tantrums, nothing! We’ve had judges like Hrithik, Saif, Bipasha on the show too but Rani was probably the best celebrity judge of them all!”

Raving about the Queen of Bollywood he further added, “Rani was in fact supposed to go for a shoot after the show and was already running late but since our public voting system took time, she didn’t mind waiting for the final results to be announced! She watched all the performances with great interest and applauded the contestants for putting up a great show. She told them how she had been following the show since its inception! Of all the contestants it was winner Rakhi Sawant who received Rani’s special attention though. Rani cheered and whistled for Rakhi during her performance and enjoyed a friendly conversation with Rakhi in hindi, since Rakhi is not comfortable with English! Which star does that?”
Well, we too were glad to know about Rani’s humility but soon got to know the reason of their friendship! Rani’s friendship with Rakhi goes back to Saawariya days when Rakhi, who's a huge fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's work, was invited to the sets of "Saawariya" when Rani was shooting. Rakhi’s speech pattern and body language was aped by Rani for her performance in Saawariya. Since then the two have been great admirers of each other! And people say no two women can be friends in showbiz!

Vidya’s kismet with “bad traffic”

Tuesday night’s music release of Kismet Konnection turned out to be a mini-disaster with half the media walking out of the event. The event, organised by Filmfare and Tips was to start at 8.30 pm.

Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan, however, only strolled in at 11 pm. A few TV channels walked out in protest. Vids apologised on stage blaming the “bad traffic” (Was she driving from Khandala?)

The punctual Shahid snapped, “I won’t give any excuses, I was told to be there at 10!” Later, both waltzed off to Bling for their own private party with the rest of cast and crew.

A photographer was heard cribbing, “At the Filmfare cover launch event on Monday, Katrina Kaif came two and half-hours late! Earlier, Katrina was so professional but now she’s also developed an attitude.”

Oh, did we mention we liked what Miss Balan wore to the event. Now let’s hope that her taste has changed for good and it’s not just a flash in the pan.

Aamir: No Smoking and Now Smoking

In his latest post on his blog http://www. aamirkhan.com /blog.htm, Aamir Khan admits that he has started smoking again. He writes, “I know you guys are going to kick the shit out of me, my family is already doing that.

In fact, that’s one of the reasons I haven’t posted for so long, I mean because of my smoking. I didn’t know how to face all of you. I’d want to write about something interesting, but I’d broken my promise to y’all so I’d not know how to get around that, and then I’d just shut my comp.

So I thought let me start by coming clean, and expose my human frailties. I don’t smoke in front of kids, and I don’t smoke in the presence of people who get disturbed with it. Small mercies, I know.

But what to do? I get really stressed when any of my films is about to release. I know the music is doing really well and most of you will tell me there is nothing to worry about but it doesn’t work like that.

Bear with me folks, I’ll give up once Jaane Tu releases… Ok. I’m running for cover as soon as I click the Submit tab. Be kind now.” Hmmm… and we thought Aamir was perfection personified. Ah! The frailties of mankind.

The real reason why Karan Johar is turning into a blogger

"Kuch to blog kahenge, blogon ka kaam hai kehna…choda bekaar ki baton mein kahin beet na jaye…", puns Karan about his new blogging aspirations. He promises to be regular on his blog. "But not compulsive. I don't see myself blogging from my sets when I start shooting Khan or when I'm abroad for my various events."

Once a week on the blog is all you'll get of Karan. "I've a staff to take care of the blog. And I certainly won't be peering anxiously into it every day. And the blog isn't to discuss my daily routine or my sexuality, although both may crop up when the need arises. But I'm not turning blogger to blabber about my life. God knows, I do enough of that on a daily basis."

So is it lucrative? "You mean, am I getting paid to write the blog? Who's going to pay me to hear me talk on the net when there's so much of the Karan Johar wisdom being spewed in every possible place? No, I'm doing the blog for free."

The real reason why Karan wants to blog is because he needs to put his thoughts into writing rather than vocalizing them all the time. "I've always been a closet- writer. I've been offered newspaper columns which I almost did; but never got down to it. I feel a blog would be a good way to express my thoughts on cinema, things that don't routinely get space in the traditional media outlets these days."

But if you think Karan's rishta with the media is going to change, then think again. "My relationship with the media is an uneasy but permanent marriage. We may quarrel in the morning over breakfast. But we are friends at the end of the day before dinner. And everything goes back to normal the next morning."

Trouble in Bangkok

Khan got into a scrap with Sanjay Gupta’s nephew, Gautam Kohli, while in Bangkok

Fardeen Khan recently got into a scuffle with Sanjay Gupta’s nephew, Gautam Kohli (Gotti), Head of Marketing and Promotion at White Feathers, in the corridor of the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok.

The fight happened after Sanjay Gupta’s party. Every year, on the second day of IIFA, Sanjay Gupta hosts a party. He has done so for his previous films Zinda and Plan too.

This year he held it for his next film, Acid Factory, at the swanky terrace of the Dusit Thani Hotel after the Fashion Extravaganza where the cast of the film walked the ramp.

Many people attended apart from the entire cast of Acid Factory, including the cast and crew of Shootout At Lokhandwala like Abhishek Bachchan (with Aishwarya Rai), Vivek Oberoi, Apoorva Lakhia, and other guests like Riteish Deshmukh, Manmohan Shetty, Harry and Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra.” Only Sunil Shetty was missing, as he wasn’t invited.

The source adds, “The party broke up at 4 am. After a few hours of partying, Fardeen, who is a part of Acid Factory, wandered into the lobby at around 5 am and started demanding for a car to go out.

Gautam politely asked the star son where he wanted to go, so he could instruct the driver. Fardeen misinterpreted the question as an inquisition and started shouting abuses at him, and then he pushed Gotti.

Soon they were in a scuffle and people in the lobby had to intervene and break them apart. Finally, FK got his car and he drove off in it.”

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta says cautiously, “I wasn’t there when this happened. I left after he party broke up at 4 am. I went to my room and slept.

Later, I heard that an argument had taken place between Fardeen and Gotti but these things happen at parties. There was no bashing up just some dhakkam-dhakki and it all got sorted out the next morning.”

It is believed that to make up for this nasty episode, Gupta gifted Gotti a holiday in Bangkok. Right now, he is there, getting over the trauma of being roughed up for no reason by the star son.

Amitabh Bachchan is the sexiest vegetarian

Surely, he has a secret to his good looks and health even at the age of 60. Inspite of reaching his second childhood, Amitabh Bachchan is undoubtedly the sexiest man. And People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) agree with this completely.

PETA conducted a survey, according to which Amitabh Bachchan was voted as the sexiest vegetarian male in the whole of Asia. Among other Asian contenders in the running, besides Amitabh, Madhavan was the only Indian contender. Among the Asian female contenders Bollywood actresses like Hema Malini, Kareena Kapoor, Mahima Chaudhry and Vidya Balan were considered. However, it was Hong Kong's singer-actress Faye Wong who was voted as Asia's sexiest vegetarian female.

The results of the poll were announced today.

My name is Karan

That’s the name of Johar’s blog which begins online tomorrow. Read on to find out his take on blogdom

Karan Johar knows how to make people laugh. And cry. He has a way with words, whether he is writing the dialogues for his films, using them to grill star friends on his TV show, or regaling you with his wicked one-liners about people we shan’t name.

Because Karan is honest, articulate, and knows how to hold his audiences (or in this case, web users) glued, it’s safe to assume that his blog will be a big hit, just like his movies. KJo’s first entry will appear tomorrow onwards at www.mynameiskaran.com.

Hello. Look who’s blogging now...
Hello, yes it’s me.

Why the need to blog?
(Sarcastically) You know me, a lot of people are blogging now, and since originality has never been one of my virtues, I decided to do the same. I’ve never been one to set trends, I’m more likely someone who follows trends, so…

Karan, please get serious!
Ok, ok. Again, it’s not an original thought. It’s more like the order of the day. We already have a Dharma Productions website and I wanted to create a buzz around it, and the blog will be the hook to do that. It was my dad’s dream to make Dharma a well-known brand. We are branching out, and as you know also extending our production base, and the blog is just another step in that direction.

A lot of filmmakers write to promote their films. Will you do that too?
(Emphatically) No. I don’t even have a film on the floor. Anyway, my blog will not be film-related. I am not writing to enhance the brand value of my projects. I will write about anything that I feel. I could be a brainwave I have, something I dreamt of last night, something that’s happening in the country, or about the fraternity…

Uh-oh, you will take off on the media and take on your colleagues!
Not at all. My blog will not be offending or defending.

So…
I think a blog should be about getting into the mindspace of the person who is writing it. To get where his thoughts are and try to connect. I’ll treat it like a column. I will write instinctively. It’s not my place to criticise because I am as flawed as the next guy.

Have you read other blogs? Like Anurag Kashyap’s, Amitabh Bachchcan’s and Aamir Khan’s?
I haven’t, though I’ve heard about them. I’m totally computer unsavvy. I’m hoping to change that now but uptil now all I did on the internet was google my name and read all the things people had to say about me. The blog is my chance to share with people what I have to say.

How often do you plan to blog?
Well, I can say that consistency is one of my virtues and as of now, the plan is to write at least once a week. The frequency might change. I may write more often.

Ok, finally, one person whose blog you’d love to read?
Shah Rukh Khan. Not for any other reason except I that I have had the privilege of reading parts of the book that he has been writing for the last five years. It’s amazing. Every chapter in the book has heart, soul, guts, emotion, drama... enough to keep the reader completely engrossed. If he ever decided to blog, it will be something to look out for.

What’s a blog?
A blog (short for web log) is a website usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as online diaries. A typical blog combines text and images. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

Preity to do a cameo for Salman’s home production

The IPL jamboree and hoopla over, Preity Zinta took off for a quiet week-long holiday at a place where there was no noise, bustle and cellphones. “The worst thing is I wasn’t even allowed to talk. Can you imagine... me not talking?”

Rejuvenated, she’s raring to get back to films. “I didn’t realise how much I had been put behind. I have so much pending work. Four films are at different stages of completion. I’ve to immediately start dubbing for Harr Pal and Heroes. Then I leave for the world tour with the Bachchans.”

In Heroes, she stars with one of her favourite co-stars Salman Khan, for whom she has agreed to do an item song in the Salman-Kareena starrer Main Aur Mrs Khanna.

Preity corrects, “It’s Salman’s home production. And he is a buddy. But it’s not an item song, really. It’s an interesting cameo. And I’ve agreed to be in the film because the director Prem Soni is a dear friend.

And since Salman has played Prem so often, let’s just say this one is for Prem.”

Sushmita will be a judge on a dance reality show

Sushmita Sen will soon be seen on television. Sush, who may appear to be extremely tied up with the pre-production of her dream project Rani Laxmibai will be a judge for a dance reality show that will air on the soon-to-be aired Hindi entertainment channel, Colors.

The show, yet untitled, is being produced by UTV. It will have cricketers and telly/film folk shaking a leg for the top spot. Cricketer Wasim Akram will be Sush’s co-judge. Among the cricketers finalised is wicketkeeper/batsman Dinesh Karthik.

Sush’s show will be telecast after the Akshay Kumar-anchored Fear Factor series ends. The channel will be launched with Akki’s show, which features celeb females as participants.

In keeping with the trend of paying B-Town actors a bomb for their television outings, Sush, too, has been given an extremely attractive remuneration. Though the channel is keeping all info under wraps, it is learnt that she has been paid a whopper (read: crores) the highest ever to any B-Town actress on the small screen..

According to an onlooker, “Sushmita has agreed to do television as she needs huge finances for her directorial debut Rani Laxmibai, which she is also producing. Ever since she announced the mega project, the actress has not been signing new films as she wanted to concentrate on the extensive research and raising finances for the film.”

Except for committing to David Dhawan’s Do Not Disturb, produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Sush last shot over a year ago for Mudassar Aziz’s Dulha Mil Gaya, which lies incomplete.

Priyanka to speak in Marathi for her next film

If you hear Priyanka Chopra speaking in Marathi, and assume that she has signed a regional film and is practising to speak the language, you’d only be half-right. The actress is learning to speak the language for her role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next romantic comedy titled Kaminey.

Priyanka’s character in the film is that of a middle class Maharastrian girl. At the moment, she is shooting for Dostana after which she will wrap up the last schedule of Fashion. She doesn’t have enough time before she goes into shooting for Kaminey, so she’s getting help now.

Like most people who’ve lived in Mumbai, the actress understands Marathi, but is not good at speaking it. Hence she asked for a teacher to help her learn the dialogues.

A source from the project reveals, “Priyanka is required to mouth many lines in Marathi and has hired a teacher to help her. The actress is making time everyday to get her diction and pronunciation right, as the director is a stickler for perfection.”

Priyanka’s teacher Arti Ketkar acts in Marathi TV serials, and has been visiting the sets of Dostana to tutor her. In the past, Priyanka has also taken lessons for the Sikh martial art Gatka for Drona, and trained in martial arts for Farhan Akhtar’s Don.

When contacted Priyanka says, “I am equally excited and nervous. I’ve always wanted to learn Marathi and I really hope I can pick it up quickly.”

Aamir and nephew Imran are guests on Sallu’s new show 10 Ka Dum

As Imran Khan’s debut movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na inches towards release, uncle Aamir is doing everything in his power to promote the film. The uncle-nephew jodi were guests on Salman’s new show recently, and won Rs 1 crore.

A source reveals, “Aamir heard that Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra (whose Love Story 2050 releases the same day as Imran’s film) were guests on Shah Rukh Khan’s show Kya Aap Paanchi Pass Se Tez Hai? He liked the idea of promoting his nephew through a TV show, so he approached Salman Khan to accommodate him for one of the guest episodes.”

The source further adds, “Salman liked the idea of Aamir being on the show, and ensured that Sony sent them a formal invitation for an episode.”

The episode will be aired on July 4 same as the release date of Jaane Tu…

According to an eyewitness, “Aamir came on the sets late at 11:30 with Imran, and did his mock rehearsal with Salman for 30-odd minutes and then left to get changed. The three Khans (Salman, Aamir and Imran) spent a lot of time chatting in Salman’s chalet. The host was heard complimenting the young Imran on his looks and his lean physique. The trio finally made their way out of the chalet, way past 2 am! And that’s when the shoot actually started.”

The actors looked in top form and the three laughed and joked all the way through it. Aamir won a crore and then got stuck on the last question and chose to walk away with the money in hand.”

Kya Aap Love Story 2050 Couple Se Bored Hai ?

The Paanchvi Pass finale with the Love Story 2050 couple is a dull affair

The Love Story 2050 couple recently shot for Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? for an episode which will be telecast on July 27 as part of the show’s finale.

Says an eyewitness, “Harman Baweja and ladylove Priyanka Chopra’s classroom outing was an extremely dull affair. Though they won Rs 50 lakh, it was a lacklustre affair. The duo put up a thanda appearance, unlike other stars who brighten the classroom with their antics. The teacher, host Shah Rukh Khan, also was unable to make them more livelier.”

It is learnt that they took inordinately long to answer the questions. As a result, the shoot was prolonged and the studio audience got tired and disinterested.

Says an onlooker, “It took over three hours to shoot with Harman and Priyanka. Normally, the shoot takes about a hour and a half, but they took double the time. At times, even the kids were exasperated as things were happening in slow motion. As it was for the camera, even SRK could not do anything.”

This came as a big change from their other celeb guests on the show. Adds the source, “Laloo Prasad Yadav, who also appears in Paanchvi Pass, went zip, zap, zoom on the show. He infused a lot of fun in the classroom. Earlier even Karan Johar and Rani Mukerji thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Priyanka and Harman were relatively boring.”

However Harman says, “We did what the rest do on such shows. We danced too! Every capsule had a fixed timing to be shot and we went accordingly.”

Continues the onlooker, “They appeared so smitten with each other, especially Priyanka. It was as if they were more into themselves, rather than putting some energy into perking things up with their presence.

When a star appears on such reality shows, it is more about their presence than their winning.”

The couple donated the prize money to Plan India and to the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Golmal in Bangkok

Filmmaker, Rohit Shetty knows how to make the best use of his heroines. Well, before you think of something cheeky, let’s tell you this ace director is currently in Bangkok and he is shooting with three glam girls for a promotional video.

“I am not shooting only with Kareena, Amrita Arora and Celina Jaitley, but with the guys of Gomaal Returns too.” says Rohit from Bangkok. He informs us that GR is complete and he is in Bangkok with the main star cast of the film to shoot a promotional song.

It is believed that Rohit was planning to add an item song featuring all his beautiful actresses. When asked Rohit denied by calling it as a rumour. He says, “That’s not true. It is not an item song but a promotional video, which will feature all the star cast of the film. Ganesh Acharya is choreographing this hip hop song which has been sung by Neeraj Sridhar.”

It can be recalled that Golmaal was more of a guy’s film but its sequel Golmaal Returns is going to be a complete romantic comedy. It is scheduled to release in October.

Vidya’s lucky charm

Since the time Vidya Balan has entered in the industry she has been linked with either with her director or co actors of her films. Call it her good or bad luck she has always been in the news for this.

It can be recalled that before the release of her first film she was linked with her Parineeta director Pradeep Sarkar and soon after the release, she was paired with costar Saif Ali Khan. After the release of Lage Raho Munna Bhai her pairing with Sanjay Dutt was highly appreciated by the audience but at the same time, she was declared to be in a relationship with Dutt. Her close friendship with John Abraham compelled Bipasha to feel insecure while Salaam–e-ishq was being shot. Worst of all she was blamed for Sahid and Kareena’s break up.

We met Vidya on the sets of Kismat Konnection where she spoke her heart out. Speaking about being linked with all her co stars she says, “Fortunately or unfortunately I have been linked with most of my costars before this. But no one gets into discussion because we all know what the truth is so I don’t think we need to discuss the things that are written about us.”

Vidya informs that, she has stopped reacting news related to her link ups. She says, “You know I used to react to it, I used to get annoyed and cry but now its other way round as I find it quite entertaining. I am so fed up and after a certain point of time what will you do?”

But may it work for Kismat Konnection . She quickly replies, “I don’t think that any kind of rumor can work for the film.” Do you feel being single in the industry is difficult? “No I don’t think being single is difficult rather it has nothing to do with industry. Yes I will definitely like to be with someone at some point of time but I am in no hurry. I am very happy the way I am.” She said it with poise.

Salman Ka Dum

Actor Salman Khan is enjoying his stint at television. Hosting a reality game show, the actor is having a wonderful time. "It's a different ball game to be hosting a show. For films you require one set of talents, to host a show another altogether," he tells us, insisting that it's fun but not as easy as it looks.

"You've got to think from the top of your head. Contestants throw at you questions which you need to answer in a tactful manner," says Salman. About his experiences, the actor says that the best part about his gameshow – Dus Ka Dum – is that even though people miss out on winning big money sometimes, they are always smiling. "You'll see not a frown on their foreheads, even though a few more thousands would make a big difference to their world," says Sallu.

The Khan seems to be answering personal questions posed by the contestants in an easy manner compared to when media poses the same questions to him. He says, "I have a connect with my fans. They seem to know and understand me better than the media. The media tried to pose me as a 'bad boy'. The bad boy image seems to have been tarnished thanks to this game show. The people now know what I really am, in fact, I'd say that my fans knew what I was all along. For them, I'm just one of them. I'm not this superstar actor. I'm as normal as they are."

About the impressive TRP ratings his show has garnered, the actor doesn't bask in the glory. "It's a great concept that worked. People are telling me that I've overtaken Mr. Bachchan and Shah Rukh, actors who also hosted gameshows. But I'm not in the numbers game. I never was! That's because ranks keep fluctuating. I'd rather just do what I want to do, and if it works, I'm happy."

Rani Mukerji bowled over by cricket

After playing an angel in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, actress Rani Mukerji is all set to do another unconventional role — she plays a cricketer in Yash Raj Films’ next venture and is busy practising on the field.

“I don’t know if any actress has played a cricketer before. But, I’m playing one for sure. In fact, I’ve been learning cricket regularly on the field for the past two months. I can most certainly play the game convincingly now, though not as good as professionals yet. It’s a very big challenge for me,” says Rani from her swanky new home in Mumbai.

So, is she equipped to join the Indian Premier League now (IPL) now? “I don’t know about that. But, I’m definitely enjoying it. My practice sessions are on in full swing,” she says.

She will also, for the first time, be paired opposite Shahid Kapur in the film that will be directed by debutant Anurag Singh. Rani says she is hungry for new roles. “At this stage of my career, I feel I need new challenges. When Kunal Kohli offered me an angel’s role, I was kicked. I don’t know of any actress who has played an angel before. Also, for the first time I was playing a character who couldn’t cry. Now, they can stop saying Rani cries so much in all her films. It was pretty cool to play a character who actually doesn’t know how to cry and who had to fly around like Hrithik (Roshan) in Krrish,” she says tongue firmly in her cheek.

Being suspended on a harness, she says, was not easy. “It required a lot of physical strength to assume the correct ‘flying’ posture on the harness. I guess it’d be equally difficult for me to look convincing as a cricketer. But, I’m glad to be doing work with challenges.”

So, is she ok working with a first-time director? “It isn’t as if I haven’t worked with new directors before. I was in Shaad Ali’s first film Saathiya , remember? And, Kunal Kohli started his career with me in Mujhse Dosti Karoge !,” she quips.

After an angel and a cricketer, what would Rani like to play? “Maybe an astronaut like Kalpana Chawla. And, I’d also love to play a doctor. Come to think of it, I’ve never worked with Shahid Kapur before either. I’m doing so now.”

Isn’t there a danger of her being branded a resident Yash Raj heroine since all her recent films have been with that banner alone? “Why? Wasn’t Saawariya with Sanjay Leela Bhansali? And, if Yash Raj is making some of the best films in our country, why should I keep out just because people are talking? “Incidentally, my marriage date, February 10, (as reported by some media) has come and gone. Would mediapersons like to set another date for me so I can start getting my trousseau ready?”

Amisha breaks silence on beau

For the first time, Amisha says Kaanav Puri is perfect.

Cosmo says no beauty product can make a girl glow, like love can. One look at Amisha Patel, and you have to admit, there’s some truth to it. The promos of her upcoming film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic are on air and the actress has never looked better.

Tease her about it being pyaar ka side-effects, and she laughs, “Maybe thoda sa.. but I have been training hard to look like this.” There’s no mistaking that Amisha is a girl in love. She completes six months of dating Kaanav on June 27th, and for the first time since they began seeing each other, she’s feeling secure enough to talk about her man. Read on…

Lets talk about Kaanav.
(Laughs) Ok, what do you want to know?

Was it love at first sight?
Totally.

For you or him?
For both of us.

Is he The One?
Yes, he most certainly is.

Describe Kaanav in one word?
Perfect.

Three qualities you like about him.
(Giggles) There are so many… He’s loving, he’s caring, has his head firmly on his shoulders, and above all, is a really great person.

He recently surprised you by showing up on your birthday.
Yes. Actually my friend Paulomi planned a party at her house. I was shooting all day, and was whining about the fact that Kaanav was not going to be with me on that day. Till 9.30, I had no idea what I was going to do but then he showed up and he brought me this amazing dress, which I wore to the party. It turned out to be a perfect night.

I hear he bought you many thoughtful gifts?
Mmm... he got me a lot of stuff that he knows I like. My favourite one being the Dior limited edition bag. He knows I love bags as I have a huge collection in my house. And he bought me one in my favourite colour pink!

And the following day he whizzed you off for a romantic getaway!
(Smiles) Yes, he did. I had no idea when he stole my passport and made all the arrangements. He told me he was taking me to Goa for three days, and I had packed my bags. I didn’t suspect anything even after we reached the international airport. There are many domestic flights that fly out of there. It was when I saw the boarding passes, that I realised we were headed to Colombo. But once we landed there, in stead of going into arrival, we started going into the transit lounge and that’s when he told me that the destination was not over and that we were going to Maldives. I was thrilled.

It was your first time there?
Yes, and that’s the best part. I am glad I discovered the place with him. It’s so romantic. He had booked a villa for us, which had its own private pool. And it had a path leading to the ocean. He made sure it was very private, so I would not be disturbed.

Seems like the surprise worked! Most women hate surprises…
I love surprises. Especially when they come from Kaanav, because he knows my likes and dislikes so well. And he is so meticulous in his planning. He is like my mirror image. I’m not sure I would enjoy everybody’s surprises though!

Is it tough to maintain a long distance relationship?
It is difficult. Especially for a girl like me. I want to be with the man I love all the time. We try and meet as often as we can. I flew to London to spend time with him. After I returned, Kaanav flew to Mumbai. When he’s in Delhi, I try and go there, even if it is for one night, and try to grab moments with him. Especially now that I am leaving for my new film on Friday and will only be back in August!

Finally, why didn’t you admit to seeing Kaanav for so long? Especially since you’ve been very vocal about your men in the past.
I did not admit to Kaanav sooner because he’s very special and I didn’t want to jinx it. It was too precious for me to talk about it to people. It’s almost six months now and now I am feeling secure and now I know our relationship is too strong for anything or anyone to come between us.

Meet SRK's German fan, the 48 yr old, Ute

This Saturday, Shahrukh Khan will be performing live-on-stage with Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Katrina Kaif, Javed Ali, Anushka Dandekar and Ganesh Hegde in Ahoy, Rotterdam. Temptation is back! Not only will be Dutch fans be joining the show, but several fans from European countries will fly in to see Shahrukh Khan and the other stars perform live. Here we have a short interview with a German fan called Ute. She is 48 years old and lives in Germany.

Why and when did you become fan of Shahrukh Khan?
I became a fan of Shahrukh Khan exactly on November 19, 2004, when K3G was shown on German TV for the first time. This man impressed me on first sight and the more I got to see and know about him, the more I adore this wonderful actor and human being. Admiring any artist is something that never happened to me before, even when I was in my teens. There has never been someone, who was worth it.

Have you ever met him before?
I've never met Shahrukh or any of the other stars.

What are your expectations of the show?
It will be a treat for the eyes for sure! Hopefully there will be a lot of interaction with the audience. Shahrukh is able to leave a crowd of 30,000 people spellbound, only by sitting on a wooden chair on an empty stage!

Why are you coming to see the show?
I'm coming to see Shahrukh in person, my heart's desire. Shahrukh Khan sure has great fans. I, for one, am definitely looking forward to what Temptation Reloaded will bring us!

The interview was conducted by Charla Manohar

"I made a lot of mistakes" - Vivek Oberoi

While on MISSION ISTAANBUL, its lead actor Vivek Oberoi has turned a new leaf. "I made a lot of mistakes, I rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, I got carried away. I went through hell, personally and professionally. The media turned its back on me. Some of the projects I was associated with, evaporated into thin air. Everything I did, backfired," Vivek reminisces as we get into the flashback mode.

"But," he continues in the same breath, "I realized that the problem was with me, not anyone else. If almost everyone was talking ill of me, if almost everyone had trained their guns on me, it only went to prove that I was at fault, it only meant that I need to mend ways. As you sow so shall you reap."

Vivek also admits that the Salman Khan episode -- calling the entire media to his house to malign Salman -- is something he repents. "I used a public platform to malign him. When I felt I must apologize, I did so publicly, not discreetly," he admits honestly.

Quiz Vivek whether he'd work with Salman, Abhishek or Ash, pat comes the reply, "Of course, I would. I am a professional and so are they." Meanwhile, Vivek begins shooting for Tips' new film shortly, followed by Karan Johar's new project.

Madhuri and Anil all set to spill Tezaab on the celluloid again

Mumbai: Yesteryears hot jodi- Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, is all set to sizzle the cinema screens yet again. Writer-director N Chandra who was instrumental in Madhuri Dixit's star-trek with 'Tezaab' is reportedly working on a sequel to his film successful flick 'Tezaab'.

The reports suggest that the director is planning to rope in the same star-cast and is hoping to recreate the Anil-Mads magic again. The film will be apparently called 'Tezaab 2'.

It seems that the encouraging audience response to the sequel of 'Sarkar Raj' has inspired Chandra to jump on the sequel bandwagon.

The late 80s and early 90s combination of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit have given a number of Box-Office hits together, creating a lasting impact on the viewers with their innumerable movies. This piece of news is surely expected to pep up the fans of the two stars.

Only time will tell if the movie will be able to strike a chord with the movie lovers, here's hoping that it won't make the audience get a feel of deja vu with the same old faces gracing the sequel!

Saif return to IIFA in time to see Bebo receive her award

There has been a great deal of speculation whether Saif Ali Khan was present when ladylove Kareena Kapoor received the Best Actress trophy during the recent IIFA awards in Bangkok.

Onlookers had observed Saif rushing out of the event immediately after her dance performance. As a result, all sorts of buzz did the rounds about his hasty departure.

It is now learnt that Saif was present for Bebo’s big moment when she was receiving the award, thanks to a delayed flight!

Says a source, “The awards gala got off to a late start, so Saif could not wait for Bebo’s award as he had a flight to London to catch.

When he reached the airport, he was told that the flight was delayed by over three hours. As a result, he immediately returned to the IIFA venue and could catch Kareena bagging the award.”

Saif had specially flown in for a few hours from London, where he is shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s next project with Deepika Padukone.

Saif is also the producer of the film.

Adds the source, “When Saif returned from the airport, Kareena didn’t even know that he was back in the audience.

It was only when she began her performance that she saw him cheering for her.

She was pleasantly surprised. After her dance, Saif spent a few moments in Kareena’s green room and then rushed back to the airport again.”

Salman in Love with Myson and Myjaan

Salman Khan has penned his thoughts about his dogs, Myson and Myjaan on his blog.

He writes, “They are my life and I am passionate about them.

While I do not humanise them, I dislike referring to them as dogs or my pets.

This is because they are a part of me, my family and they share my every joy and sorrow.

They understand me completely and there is such a big bond, such a rapport that I share with them that it moves me beyond words.

Whenever I get a Sunday off, I spend being with them.

Myjaan is far smarter and naughtier than Myson, she always insists I pet her first and creates a big fuss if I get to Myson before her.

They are also my sounding boards, they ground me and help me to think of the ones who wait for us across the rainbow bridge… From them, I learn patience and forbearance.

The unconditional love that they teach me to share is timeless and beautiful.”

Party time for Dad and Son

Harman has also planned a birthday party for Harry today. “We will have a party at home with family, friends, cousins, relatives and my friends and dad will cut a cake.

I am organising the party and want everything for dada. It’s a small thing for me to do after dad has given me such a huge launch pad. I have called a few of dad’s film industry friends and some directors of mine.

I am extremely happy with Love Story 2050. Now I have to live up to dad’s expectations. When dada wrote Love Story in 1999 I was only 19 years old. It would have been too much pressure on me if dad had launched me so young.

We kept searching for the right script till one day, dad asked me if I wanted to do Love Story. I said yes. Since then, it’s been a never-ending roller coaster ride!”

It’s the easiest to fall in love with Shah Rukh on screen, says Rani

Her last two films — Saawariya and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag — didn’t exactly set the box-office afire.

And Rani attributes this failure to the repeated attempts at portraying an image of her that is perhaps diametrically opposite to her chirpy self. On a rain-washed Saturday evening in Kolkata, Rani explains, “It’s easier to target me since two or three of my films haven’t done well. There’s a way of putting questions across. Both celebs and the media need each other. If the media is arrogant, it can’t expect me to take things lying down all the time. But neither am I always accessible to the press, nor do I issue clarifications for every wrong story being fed by some fictitious ‘sources’ in the media.”

That means there is no point asking her about her alleged relationship with Aditya Chopra. And in any case, she has recently gone on record to say that she is yet to find a guy she can date! But she is more than willing to talk about love. “I need to honestly like the person to be able to romance him on screen. It’s the easiest to fall in love with Shah Rukh on screen. Off screen, I’m yet to come across anyone like my character in Thoda Pyaar... Thoda Magic (which incidentally, isn’t a rip-off film), who isn’t allowed to love. Most couples are always fighting over who loves the other more. Problems crop up when people want more love than what they can give,” she says. Well, that’s an interesting observation.

But has she felt that emotion? “Yes. Love is the magic one feels in the heart. Bhalobasha emon ekta
onubhuti jeta shobde prokash kora jai na,” she says in Bangla. While Rani might admit to her inability to express that feeling, she is much more at ease expressing, or rather choosing, between National Awards and commercial success. “I value commercial success more than National Awards. A hit means the film has been appreciated by a large number of people. An award is more of a personal high,” says the actor who is all set to play a cricketer in her next film.

As for doing a post-mortem of her roles, Rani isn’t that keen. “That’s a useless and baseless exercise. No one knows why a film clicks. While reviews can’t change the fate or the lifespan of movies, I’ve always acted on constructive criticism about my flaws regarding bad clothes and make-up. People can understand when reviews are all about destructive criticism. Young journalists in Mumbai often get irresponsible. Just for two or three persons, we actors often tend to lose faith in the rest.” Just for the record, Rani doesn’t have time to write blogs to let her fans get to the truth.

Time up, and as she prepares to head for the airport, we wonder whether she feels that her aunt Debasree Roy should also shift base to Mumbai like many of her contemporaries, including Indrani Halder and Roopa Ganguly? A tad serious, Rani says, “Mashi is her own boss. She has taken the best of decisions in her life and I’m too close for comfort to advise her on that.”

Ash posted a comment on Ram Gopal Varma’s blog

It maybe a while yet before Aishwarya Bachchan turns a blogger. But she has posted a comment on Ram Gopal Varma’s blog... in reply to a comment by another blogger.

‘Shankar looks like an emotional fool when he opens his heart to a girl from America whom he met yesterday,’ was the comment, to which RGV’s tongue-in-cheek answer was ‘May be he has a weakness for worldly beauties.’ ( Watch )

But Ash probably took the above ‘weakness...’ comment about her hubby Abhishek, to heart. For, in response, she’s posted a rather long reply. It reads...

‘When you have two people ‘confide’ in each other, it’s such a personal experience, it underlines a deep connection between the two on various levels and makes this obvious to the observer. Here the audience. Given the realistic space in which the characters express themselves which is very much clear in the language of the film (Realistic in acting, dialogue, camera etc.) we chose CONFIDING IN as hugely intimate an experience to convey this deep connection, rather than ‘fans blowing hair and clothes, background aalaaps or song, round trolley movements, or rain out of nowhere and waltzing etc’ to convey this. It’s all in the Eyes of the Characters and in the intense intimacy of confiding!!!

That’s SARKAR RAJ! ’We’re still wondering if she was talking about Abhishek, her hubby, or his character in the film, Shankar!

MY NAME IS KHAN: Karan's next hit audio score!

There is no doubt that the audio albums of Karan Johar's films have had some outstanding songs, right from KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI to KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM. Even the songs of KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA (that was not as big a hit as the other two) achieved amazing popularity and sales volumes. So, what can we expect from his next directorial venture, the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer, KHAN / MY NAME IS KHAN?

Well, reliable media sources who have heard scratch tunes of two of the songs say that Karan Johar once again has super-hit music on his hands. As per exclusive details, the first composition 'Sajda' is to be rendered by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. It is likely to be picturised as a background song when Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol get married.

The other song, 'Tere Naina', will be another background composition. The situation for the number is when SRK sees Kajol for the first time in the film. One understands that this particular song too will be rendered by a Pakistani singer.

To sum up in two words, the musical compositions by Shankar- Ehsaan-Loy will be sure fire hits, once the audio album is launched next year!

SARKAR RAJ is a success

SARKAR RAJ has turned out to be a success at the box office. Even though some media reports have been questioning the film's pull, especially after a huge number of prints that the film was released at, the fact remains that over 23 crores coming in the first week means that at the least SARKAR RAJ would prove to be an average success at the box office.

The kind of collections that have poured in for the film aren't mind blowing but they are nowhere near being poor. In fact for a change, most of the reports too have been guarded as no one from the trade has stood up and called the film as a failure. The talks have mainly been centered around 'Why didn't the film take an earth shattering start in spite of featuring the towering trio from the Bachchan family'.

While in case of RAM GOPAL VARMA KI AAG, it was crystal clear after the first show itself that the film was a failure, and hence everyone associated with it - especially Ramu - was pulled down, SARKAR RAJ has troubled a few in a different way. Because the film didn't under perform in a way as some would have expected, the focus shifted on - 'Collections are good but not very good'!

However, most seem to be ignoring an all important point that Ram Gopal Varma has finally managed to end his poor box office run with SARKAR RAJ which now happens to be the biggest first week money spinner of his career. In fact the film has even created city records at a few centers that seem to have gone unnoticed by majority of trade pundits.

Says a prominent distributor on condition of anonymity, "There is a definite tirade out there that wants the world to believe that distributors are loosing sleep over SARKAR RAJ. No, we are not. The film has earned us the moolah and the kind of subject it comes with, you can't expect a slam-bang job where a film earns over the first weekend and disappears. The film has entered the second week in a strong position as well and we don't foresee anything much fall in days to come."

Well, with MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP not quite taking a thunderous opening that could steal away a lot from SARKAR RAJ, looks like Ramu, Bachchan and Co. may eventually have the final smile, if not a roaring laugh!

Akshay, Katrina raving about Snoop Dogg-RDB number

The keenly awaited Snoop Dogg-RDB number for Singh Is Kinng has been recorded at last and will form a part of the film's soundtrack when it releases.

At present, there are plans to shoot the video in Los Angeles, where Akshay is headed for another film shoot. Both Akki and Katrina haven't stopped raving about the track!

Remarks the Kumar, "The song is mind-blowing. I made a few friends listen to it and they haven't stopped gushing about it. I am confident that just like the rest of the soundtrack this will go on to become a major chartbuster."

Katrina seconds Akki's sentiments. "I've heard it and it's outstanding. If I'm right, it's the first real hip-hop song in a Hindi movie. I know that girls are supposed to be an integral part of hip-hop videos but I don't know whether there will be place for me in this video!" she laughs.

"It's very male-dominated and I don't want to be a prop. With Akshay and Snoop, it will rock anyway!" she adds.

Meanwhile, the title track of the film, rendered by Neeraj Shridhar and composed by Pritam, is likely to go on television later this week.

I still have to find a guy to date: Rani

Rani Mukerji had always wanted to be famous, but her mom motivated her to become an actress.

“Coming from a filmi family, a lot of people do anticipate that this is the profession you are also going to take up. But I had always thought that only tall, beautiful, charismatic girls could be actresses. I did not think I had all these qualities. However, I got my first movie offer from Salim (Khan) uncle when I was in Class X. I actually asked him whether he is sure about offering me a role,” she shares.

Rani’s first ever screen test was a big disaster. “I was made to wear Mamta Kulkarni’s mini skirt because Salim uncle had just done Baazi with Aamir and Mamta. So they gave me that skirt. And I asked them, ‘Accha, this is how it happens?’ I was totally clueless. I had never worn a mini-skirt before. It was quite a cultural shock for me. After that, they put glycerin in my eyes after which I could not open my eyes. My eyes were burning and I asked them whether this was what the actors used to cry on screen. I did not know all these technicalities.”

But then, what finally motivated her to stick to acting? “I love my parents more than anything else in the world. And it is for them that I decided to give my best to cinema. Otherwise, I was really happy being rejected after my first audition.” Rani has been in the Hindi film industry for more than 12 years now and feels that these years have been the best of her life. “My first few movies did not do well and I have no qualms in saying that. But then, one always learns over a period of time. I have reached a stage of life today where I can choose the movies I want to do. Hard work always pays. I have always been a sincere child and that is what has got me so far,” she smiles.

Rani has played the role of a fairy in her soon to be released Thoda Pyaar... Thoda Magic and she’s super excited about the flick. “Let me clear one thing, it is not a rip-off of any movie. I am playing the role of a fairy and trust me, flying is a lot of fun,” she laughs. “The only thing is that you have to get used to the harness, which can be tiring. So if you find cycling 60 feet above the ground and being tied to a harness cool, well, I am really cool. And by the way, after shooting for the flying scenes everyone on the sets was calling me the female Krrish,” she laughs. Rani also says that she has put on some three kilos after shooting for this movie. “Arre, what could I do? Kunal asked me to look golu-polu because this fairy has to be a nanny on earth. So I happily ate what all the four kids ate – ice creams, chips and loads of junk food.”

On to her personal life... Rani rubbishes rumours linking her and Aditya Chopra. “I still have to find a guy who I can date. After dating him for a while, I will then figure out whether I want to marry him or not and after marrying him I would love to have kids with him. And after they grow up, I will decide whether they can be actors or not. Depends on their look and talent you see!” Well Rani, that sure seems like a plan!

Priyanka: ‘Fashion’able in Paris

Madhur Bhandarkar’s budgets for films are hitting through the ceiling.

While his Chandni Bar was made for Rs 1.5 crore, he spent close to Rs 4 crore for Traffic Signal. However Fashion, budgeted at Rs 20 crore, is Madhur’s most glamourous and expensive film so far. Madhur says, “Fashion is a big financial leap. Because of the kind of opulence the film requires, we needed a big star. Priyanka Chopra is a glamourous star and Fashion couldn’t have been made without her. And now, I’m looking forward to shooting the climax with her in Paris.”

There has been a change of plan regarding the climax of Fashion. Earlier, the director had planned to shoot the Paris Fashion Week live in July, but now, he’ll be recreating the Fashion Week in Paris during the event. Informs Madhur, “We are working on a deal with the French Government.

We will show Priyanka walking the ramp but we won’t shoot the Fashion Week. A set in Paris needs to be put up for about five days. We want to capture Priyanka framed against the Eiffel Tower and also show her walking the ramp in Paris as a supermodel. We will also have some footage from the real Fashion Week.”

Vidya’s dirty dance

Now we all know that Vidya Balan is infamous for her sense of styling but there is one more thing that she is certainly lacking. She is undoubtedly a talented actress but when it comes to dancing Vidya doesn’t impress her audiences. Vidya who is currently shooting in Mumbai’s Film City for a promotional video of her forthcoming film Kismat Konnection, is having a tough time to match her steps with co actor Shahid Kapoor Dressed in a jazzy black and white Shabina Khan outfit , Vidya rehearsed her steps backstage before doing it in front of the camera. Even after the rehearsals Vidya couldn’t get her steps right. Ace choreographer Ahmed Khan who choreographed this song was very supportive through out the shoot.

It was surprising to see Vidya who performed in Zee Cine Awards fumbling with her steps. Even her director Aziz Mirza was amazingly supportive and patient with Vidya. He was constantly cheering up Vidya who became quite conscious and nervous.

When asked about Vidya’s dancing skills Shahid said, “I think she is doing a very good job. I am very fortunate that I got my initial training with Shaimk Davar. But Vidya is someone, who is not trained but very hardworking.”

Being a good friend of Vidya Ahmad supports her. He informs that Vidya didn’t even hear that song prior to her shoot. She just came on the set without rehearsals. He further explains that Vidya is good in classical dancing, but western is quite new to her. Later he blamed his friend Shahid for it. “Shahid is the best dancer in the film industry. He is so good that nobody wants to dance with him. We can’t compare Shahid with anybody, not even Vidya.” He quips.

Vidya corroborates to Ahmed’s statement. She says, “Shahid is a fantastic dancer and that’s a fact and I think how ever good I get, probably I won’t be able to match my steps with him but I’ll try.” So was matching her steps with Shahid, a challenge for her? “I think challenge is very heavy word probably. But I think it’s nice to try something that is out of your comfort zone. This is something out of my comfort zone but I wouldn’t have done it with anyone else because when you experimenting something new and you can only do it with people who take care of you.”

You are right Vidya you need to come out of your comfort zone and our good wishes are with you.

Soha Ali Khan on her relationships and on doing well professionally

Soha Ali Khan’s recent photograph in an international magazine where she was seen completely revamping her prim image has her unfazed. “I was apprehensive about it. But there was a part of me that said I’d like to see how this experiment goes. And I wouldn’t call that makeover. The photo-shoot was slightly tongue-in-cheek,” says the actress.

Her cover image was compared to her mother Sharmila Tagore’s bikini avatar in the 1960s by some. To that she laughs and says, “We were prepared for that. The magazine cover was not a talking point between us. It’s not the kind of thing that you put on your parents’ coffee table in the morning. Perhaps, I need to do a Good Housekeeping cover to make up for the Maxim cover.”

On what her parents thought of it, she says, “I didn’t ask my father what he thought of my supposed makeover. My father watches wildlife and IPL matches, not my movies. That doesn’t mean he loves me any less. But I do expect the rest of the family to see them. I’ve other expectations from my father. If he didn’t fulfil those, which he does, I’d be devastated.”

So why the ‘supposed makeover’? “Well, that is a part of my personality. As an actor I constantly need to experiment with my looks, clothes and makeup,” she explains.

What does her brother have to say to that? “Saif spoke to me about a three-year-old photograph that came out a month ago in a magazine. That, I’ve to admit, was slightly risqué. He called to say, ‘You don’t need to do that. It doesn’t suit you.’ Then he called again and said, ‘You looked very nice in the photograph.’ That’s Saif for you.”

Quiz her about him and Kareena Kapoor and she says, “It’s very embarrassing to be made a spokesperson for him and Kareena but I must say he increasingly understands the importance of family because of his attachment to his own children. He’s even started doing family films like Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. But let’s not talk about him.”

On Soha’s supposed marriage to Tamil actor Siddharth, Soha laughs out loud and says, “There were rumours that I was getting married in April, then stories that I broke up. Then again stories that we are supposed to get married in December. Now I
