Abhiash’s time with family

Concerts abroad mean big money for all actors.

That’s the reason everyone is ok with sweating it and running around the globe. The Bachchans who are on a whirlwind tour will come back a lot richer. But money is not the only reason they were looking froward to the tour. Before leaving Abhishek told BT, “Apart from the fact that we’re going to go out there and entertain our fans, it’s great to spend time together.

Not just as a couple, but also as family. The last time we spent six weeks together it was during Sarkar Raj. Such occassions give us an opportunity to spend precious moments together. It’s wonderful that we get to be each other. The added advantage this time is that a lot of our other friends have also joined us.” Well after all, it’s all about loving your family and friends!

Katrina Kaif has replaced Aishwarya Rai as the brand ambassador of Nakshatra Diamonds

The moolah that Kat has received for the same is said to be much higher than what was paid to Ash, when she had signed on in 2004.

Katrina is the hot new favourite in advertising circles. She is being offered a record number of endorsement by agencies everyday and she has been tagged as the most downloaded girl in Bollywood.

An agency head says, "Katrina has delivered many hit films, so currently she is top of the mind. Recently, she was also voted the sexiest woman in the South-Asia region by a popular men's magazine. This makes her a popular choice for various product companies."

The source further points out, "All the products that the actress has been endorsing for the last four years, have renewed their contracts with her, which is a good thing.

On the other hand, however, if you look at Aishwarya post marriage, she is losing ground in the Indian marketing and endorsement circles. Her deal was never called off officially but it died a natural death. Nakshatra is the only brand till date to officially let go of the former Miss World."

Katrina admits, "Yes, I have signed a contract with Nakshatra Diamonds. I have already done this beautiful photo shoot with them just a few days back and it looks simply amazing. They are officially going to unveil me on August 5 with a proper media conference."

Katrina Kaif's major endorsements:
Slice, Spice Telecom, Veet Hair Removal, Kodak, Dyna, Godrej, Idea

Bips, Ranbir, Deepika and Minissha remixed!

With the music album of BACHNA AE HASEENO touching the top of the charts, it was just a matter of time before a promotional music video, featuring the lead stars was aired. And with just two weeks to go for the worldwide release of their next venture (after a row of flops), people at Yash Raj Films have decided to go in for an extensive promotion (something which was lacking in their recent releases) of the Bipasha, Ranbir, Deepika and Minissha starrer.

In keeping with the strategy, a promotional music video, featuring Ranbir Kapoor along with the three hotties, Bipasha, Deepika and Minissha was shot in Bombay. Naturally, the song chosen was the extremely delightful remixed version of BACHNA AE HASEENO title track, which is becoming very popular. This is the first time that Ranbir Kapoor has danced with all the three hot females in the same frame. The reason is obvious, since the film is based on the love life of a man, from 17 to 30 years; the three female stars enter his life (in the film!) at different intervals of time.

One of the lead stars, Minissha was extremely excited about the video which she said was shot in a very interesting manner. She added that Ranbir was very happy to romance three pretty girls, and all at the same time!

Shah Rukh-Akshay Diwali clash unlikely!

Those who have monitored Bollywood proceedings over the last few years will recall that the first major instance of a King Khan and Khiladi Kumar starrer releasing together was back in 2004. It was Yash Chopra's VEER ZAARA against Subhash Ghai's Abbas-Mustan directed, AITRAAZ. While VEER ZARA went on to become a super-hit, netting well over 40 crores from India, AITRAAZ managed an above average status with around 18-19 crores.

The clash was repeated two years later, but this time around Shah Rukh Khan Khan's DON trounced the Salman-Akshay starrer JAAN-E-MANN comprehensively. On both the mentioned occasions it was the festive Eid-Diwali phase.

With the prospects of SRK's BILLOO BARBER and Akshay Kumar's CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA TOWN (CCTCT), releasing in close proximity, the headline grabbing yarns are already being spun about another clash between the two. However, as per our trade and distribution sources, Akshay's CCTCT will release on 24th October while SRK's BILLOO BARBER, featuring Irrfaan Khan in the title role, will hit the screens a week later on October 31.

Hopefully this should clear up matters, but our usual disclaimer: Release dates can change even at the eleventh hour!

Sanjay Dutt shoots a promotional video for C Kkompany

Sanjay's voice is pretty unconventional for playback singing but the uniqueness of his voice has always attracted music composers. Sanjay Dutt has recorded a song for Balaji Motion Pictures' forthcoming film C Kkompany. It is the title track of the film.

The song is written and composed by Anand Raaj Anand and Sanjay also features in the video of this title track choreographed by Bosco - Caesar. While recording the song in the Studio, Sanjay looked very much in an ecstatic mood, got engaged in conversations with director Sachin Yardi, music director Anand Raaj Anand, Dharam Uberoi and Ramesh Sippy and also took out some time for the shutterbugs and media. Talking about the song, Dutt says, “I will be introducing the characters of the film C KKompany through this song and I am doing this song on the request of my friend Ramesh Sippy, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures Ltd.”

“It has been a wonderful experience being associated with Balaji Motion Pictures in the past with Shootout. I really liked the concept of the film C Kkompany and the way they incorporated me to introduce the 3 protagonists in the title song. I enjoyed the song when I heard it and also since it was proposed by Mr. Ramesh Sippy who is like family, I immediately agreed to do it. This is just the beginning of our long association”, quips Sanjay Dutt.

C Kkompany stars Tusshar Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav and Raima Sen. The film has been produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. It will be releasing on 22nd August 2008.

Rahul Dev to open a gym in New Delhi

In Bollywood, the name 'Rahul Dev' is associated with machismo and versatility. Even though he is not seen that often these days on silver screen, the coming months would witness an array of Rahul's forthcoming releases.

News has it that Rahul has planned to start a state-of-the-art gym in New Delhi. There are also rumors about his plans to open one in Mumbai, but that will majorly depend on the response he gets from the Delhi branch. According to reliable sources, Rahul has been toying with the idea of this gym for quite some time now, but was not able to go ahead with it fully, since he was tied up with other professional commitments. The source also added that this gym is something to watch out for and will be fully functional within this calendar year. Now that everything is in place, Rahul has finally decided to take the 'entrepreneurial plunge'.

With this, Rahul joins the bandwagon of the increasing list of actors turning entrepreneurs. Way to Go Rahul!!!

Salman's 'Chunari' connection continues

'Odh Li Chunariya' [PYAAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA], 'Chunari Chunari' [BIWI NO. 1], 'Dupatta' [PARTNER], 'Odhni' [TERE NAAM], 'Laal Dupatta' [MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI] - it has been a long standing fascination for a 'chunari', 'dupatta', 'odhni' and the likes when it comes to Salman Khan.

Carrying on the tradition which has been on for more than a decade, an upcoming Salman Khan film yet again features a song which centers on a 'chunariya'. The number in question is 'Lal Chunariya' which is picturised on Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan for the film GOD TUSSI GREAT HO. Choreographed in a manner similar to that of 'Laal Dupatta' (which again featured Salman and Priyanka), 'Lal Chunariya' is a quintessential romantic number which never fails to entertain the segment of viewers which needs it's regular dose of core rooted Indian entertainment - Bollywood ishtyle!

The best part about this Deven Shukla written and Sajid-Wajid composed romantic song is the coming together of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, which seems to be happening after ages! The number is already on air and has turned out to be quite a different experience when compared to first two songs - 'Tujhe Aksa Beach Ghuma Du' and 'Let's Party' - both of which revolved around fun and frolic!

Zayed Khan out of Mission Istaanbul's promotional campaigns

The ongoing tussle of priority between Zayed Khan's dates for Mission Istaanbul and Subhash Ghai's Yuvraj has reached a flashpoint.

On Sunday Zayed was unable to attend a huge musical concert in Dehradun by the film's producers Popcorn Entertainment. Only producer Sunil Shetty, director Apoorva Lakhia and actor Nikiten Dheer (who plays the main antagonist) along with the musicians were present. Neither of the two protagonists Vivek Oberoi or Zayed Khan could attend.

While Vivek is shooting in South Africa for a Tips film, Zayed, though in the country and extremely desirous of promoting what he considers to be his most important film so far, was committed to shoot for Subhash Ghai.

And there's no way the Showman will allow his leading man to take time off from the shooting schedules when the film has already suffered innumerable delays. Says a source close to both the projects, "After the film got delayed Zayed's dates for Mission Istaanbul were obtained because of Salman Khan. In-between for whatever reason, Salman stopped shooting for Yuvraj. So there were chunks of Zayed's unused dates which the makers of Mission Istaanbul used. If Salman hadn't shuffled around his dates for Yuvraj, God knows what Zayed would've done. So basically, Zayed shot Mission on the time that Salman created."

But now Subhash Ghai, harassed by the delay in his opus's completion is in no mood to slacken the last lap of the shooting for any reason. Says Sunil, "We were aware Zayed couldn't join us in Dehradun. So his non-presence was no shock to anyone. Of course we'd have liked him to be with us. But he was needed for Subhashji's shooting. So we had no choice."

Ironically, Sunil intends to promote Mission Istaanbul in a big way in traditionally neglected promotional areas like Uttaranchal. And these are places where the stars provide face value. "Normally areas like Uttaranchal and Bihar aren't seen as being important for a film's promotion. But I feel we need to push our cinema in the non-metropolitan centres specially an action film like Mission Istaanbul."

Sadly, it will have to be done without either of the film's leading men.

Abhishek, Riteish, Vishal and Shekhar climb the speakers

DAY 09

- Within 24 hours of rocking the show at LA, the stars were already on the job in front of San Francisco crowds. With back to back shows over the weekend, fatigue was bound to set in but the moment lights went on and thousands of fans screamed in unison, it was business as usual for everyone who forms a part of 'The Unforgettable Tour'! The business of announcing their arrival. The business of entertaining people. The business of making sure that everyone out there got much more than what they could have ever bargained for.

- No wonder, young bunch of four freaky guys - Abhishek, Riteish, Vishal and Shekhar - decided to do something different. In fact, they didn't quite decide to do this; it just happened. So what were they up to this time around? Well, if the stage wasn't big enough for them to jump around all over, this time they didn't even leave alone the speakers. Climbing up the speakers on the stage in both the directions, the four broke themselves into a pair each and stood up and clapped while the world watched. This act was to be seen to be believed!

- While it appeared in LA that 20000 people had occupied the seating area of 12000 people then San Francisco wasn't really left behind. At least in LA people chose to occupy their seats and at maximum get into the aisles; here at SF, no inch of ground space was left vacant. So much so that people stood up on the chairs and were seen clapping hard and trying to have a dekko at the stars on the stage.

- Well, the stars did oblige, as they have been doing in the 3 concerts that have been held so far! Amitabh Bachchan came up with an astounding performance when he recited ever-so-popular dialogues from films like Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Deewar and Agneepath. The crowd, which otherwise was at its vociferous best, went silent the moment Big B's voice loomed large. Last one heard, the magic of 'Khush To Bahaut Hoge Tum' is reverberating the city of SF till this hour!

- A thing to be remembered about Big B's performance is that rather than just being physically connected to the audience, he is also making an emotional connection. This is something which can be observed when he walks up on the stage and recites his dialogues. While some of them get the legendary actor all moist eyes, even audience isn't spared of the emotion. It is actually surreal to witness people continue to give the same kind of love, respect and affection to the spoken dialogues which were first heard 25 years back!

- Vintage Bollywood is continuing to enthrall the crowds with Madhuri Dixit rocking the show once again after LA. Onlookers claim that they have been waiting for a moment like this for years now. And it is indeed quite some moment when she merely winks and passes a glance to the waiting audience. No wonder, people out there are loving each and every moment when Madhuri graces the stage with her presence. The 'Dola Re' wave continues!

- Yet again, the impeccable arrangements are meeting with quite some appreciation from the stars. Since the SF show happened within 24 hours of the one at LA, the team of 'Unforgettable Tour' didn't quite have time in hand to check out the sound arrangements. Moreover, there wasn't a tech-rehearsal either and it was all left to the organizers (and of course God!) to make things happen. Fortunately for everyone involved, there wasn't a slightest of blemish as the show went seamless from first till the very last minute. With a clockwork precision to boast of, it was one evening to be remembered!

- Just before Vishal and Shekhar were required to go on stage for their performance, Abhishek met them back stage and together they made a resolve to storm the city of SF further. 'If LA was good, this had to be great' - they promised each other. No wonder, the 'Bluffmaster' act turned out to be the best ever of the tour so far. Making sure that there was never a single dull moment as everyone jammed on stage, the team of Vishal, Shekhar, Abhishek and Riteish were at their energetic best in this segment. Of course, speakers turned out to be their stage this time around (remember the incident mentioned at the very beginning of the feature?!)

- There is a special Gujarati section which goes on when Vishal and Shekhar come on board. With Abhishek and Riteish joining them for this part, it turned out to be one complete mad house all over again. Any casualty? Well, Vishal's voice went for a toss after the show and it was only hours later that he came back to a sane state!

Thankfully, it is going to be a week long break for everyone from this point on. After spending some more time in SF, the team would be moving to Houston on 29th July. With the show being planned way down on 2nd August, it is going to be some massive party time for all the stars in the interim!

Madhuri Dixit re-introduces her husband

Even years after Madhuri Dixit leaving the Indian shores and settling down abroad, her fan base hasn't shown any decline. In fact curiosity around her appearance has only grown with every passing year. Meanwhile, even after being married for years, she is still asked questions about her celebrity husband Sriram Nene. If he makes it for an event (with Madhuri Dixit), there are questions asked. And if he is missing, questions are asked then as well!

Something similar happened in the recently conducted press conference at Los Angeles where Madhuri Dixit debuted in the Unforgettable tour. Joining the Bachchans in the US leg of the much hyped tour, she was her gracious best as she answered hundreds of press representatives who had come in full force to cover the event.

This is where a funny incidence happened. An over enthusiastic reporter, on not sighting Sriram Nene by her side, asked the inevitable question about the reason behind his absence. Well, it was nothing less than embarrassing for him when Madhuri pointed out to the person sitting next to the reporter as her husband!

Apparently, to avoid all the media attention and let the press conference progress smoothly, Nene wanted Madhuri and the other stars to hold the center stage while he mingled with the crowds. This is when he sat down amongst the reporters themselves who were oblivious about his presence.

Last one heard, the red faced reporter was running for cover!

Coming to Madhuri Dixit, as the word has already spread so far, Madhuri has been receiving tremendous acclaim wherever she has traveled in the week gone by. From Los Angeles to San Francisco, the response has been enthralling whenever Madhuri has stepped on stage. Houston is the next in line with a show being planned for 2nd August.

SHOCKING - Mallika wears lingerie in public

Mallika Sherawat is at it again!

Believe it or not but the lady has come up with an outrageous act in her Friday release UGLY AUR PAGLI. She has gone ahead and worn tiny-miny two piece lingerie in the film. So what is really shocking about this? After all she has done this in quite a few movies of her so far.

Well, the shocking part is that this time around she has done so in full public view and even walked the city roads while wearing one. Secondly (and something which is quite funny and amusing), she has done so in a manner in which only she can. How exactly? Well, she has worn the lingerie over and not under her clothing! Bizarre, but true!

As is the buzz around, in a hilarious scene in UGLY AUR PAGLI, she is challenged to wear a two piece bikini in the full public view. Not to take things lying down and rising up to the challenge, she willingly accepts it, only to shock her poor boyfriend (played by Ranvir Shorey) by wearing it rather too unconventionally!

Wanna check out more such whacky encounters? Well, UGLY AUR PAGLI is just round the corners as it comes with its offer of 99 slaps followed by one kiss. Interested?

When Madhuri-Ash reunited for 'Dola Re Dola'

DAY 08

- The BIG evening arrived. The evening of 26th July. The evening when Madhuri announced loud and clear, yet again, that she is THE lady when it comes to making hearts 'dhak dhak' go all over again. Worldwide. And she did that in style. Making her debut in 'Unforgettable' at Los Angeles, she made a grand entry where she arrived with a horde of dancers who graciously made way for her to take center stage. What followed from there on was sheer magic!

- It was just the sound of 'Ku Ku Ku' (from the famous 'Choli Ke Peeche' composition by Lakshmikant Pyarelal) which was good enough to send the crowds in ruptures. No, Madhuri didn't perform on this number but the one which kick started the event was 'Ek Do Teen', yet another LP composition from 'Tezaab'. With a phenomenal crowd backing behind her, she went on to do many more tracks including A.R. Rahman's 'Kay Sera Sera' (Pukar).

- However, the highlight of the evening was her pairing with Aishwarya Rai for the number 'Dola Re Dola'. Ismail Darbar's magic spellbinded a 20000 odd crowd yet again as Madhuri and Ash matched steps in perfect rhythm all over again. LA was enthralled but there was a lot more in the offering!

- Buzz is that 20000 patrons out there at the venue were actually occupying a space which was meant for 12000 people. No wonder, there were people all over including aisles. Production values at LA, rightly considered to be the 'Mecca of global entertainment', were huge and as per insiders, they were even better than what the stars had witnessed in the opening show at Toronto!

- With great sound to match, the props and lighting were great too. LCD curtains, backstage LCD screens, gizmos - all of them contributed to the LA concert matching standards as witnessed in international shows. As someone rightly pointed out backstage, it seemed as if nothing lesser than Madonna was performing LIVE!

- Talking about international standards and Madonna, audience didn't care less since they had Amitabh Bachchan amidst themselves. Though everyone from Riteish Deshmukh to Madhuri Dixit had their golden moments while audience too having all the right reasons to rejoice, the atmosphere was altogether different with Big B taking center stage. He sung his famous numbers from the 70s and 80s all over again but the moment of the event was him reprising his unforgettable trademark dance steps for the number 'Jahan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai' [Kaalia]!

- Big B taking center stage comes with a story by itself. As everyone is aware by now, he has been indisposed for last so many days. He wasn't in his best spirits till moments before his act and was wrapped in muffler and shawl. However, the moment he got into his costume and arrived in front of a roaring crowd, it was a different Amitabh Bachchan altogether. Not showing any signs of discomfort, he gave the appreciative 'junta' it's paisa vasool moments!

q - Meanwhile the 'bachcha brigade' has been in it's elements as well. Riteish is enjoying all the attention he is getting while kick starting the events and the LA concert was no different. Getting madder with every passing day, he is now used to the thunderous response his acts have been getting him. Even though the songs and the dances remain to be the same from one show to another, it is the improvisation and sheer comfort while occupying the stage which is making all the difference.

- Ditto for Preity Zinta who has been dancing away to glory with her many songs including the ones from 'Kal Ho Na Ho' [Shankar Ehsaan Loy]. Humor too is accompanying her wherever she goes since now she is being termed as a Lady Soldier. Reason? The flu has spread it's wings over the 'pretty woman' as well and at LA, she too took the stage in spite of being unwell!

- However, the man who is continuing to get more and more whacky day by day is Abhishek Bachchan. Yet another show, yet another entry from the crowds. And this time around, he also had a cradle/suspended platform (akin to what one witnesses with those who clean windows at high rises) for company as he juggled from one end of crowd area to another! He went berserk and also did the crowd, which continued to make this tour one evening to remember for all!

- While so much happened on stage, back stage drama was in full force as well. Vishal Dadlani shares an interesting anecdote. Apparently, while working on the sound design for the show, he was interacting with the Sound Engineer who belonged to LA and had earlier worked on setting the stage for international concerts. Oblivious to the stars for which he was working for this time around, he wasn't clued in to the legend called Amitabh Bachchan. This is when Vishal woke him to the fact. He gave him a simple analogy. He asked him how would he react if he worked setting up the platform for someone like Elvis Presley. All dreamy eyed, the Engineer's obvious answer was - 'Unbelievable and over the moon.' To this, Vishal replied, "Bro, today you are doing it for someone as legendary as Presley. Get your best work in place, stay tuned and do check out the response from the audience. You would have lived you dream!'

While it is obvious that the Engineer as well as thousands of fans did get to live their dream, it was another concert on another day, just in a matter of hours for the stars. As they moved out of a enthralling response in LA, it was time to board flight for San Francisco and rock the show. Again!

"SRK never created problems for Dulha Mil Gaya" - Viveck Vaswani

Viveck Vaswani is a happy man. His Dulha Mil Gaya, which has been in the making for around 1 and half years now, is fast nearing the finishing mark. The film would be more than 90% through this week as a marathon 20 day schedule comes to a close. In fact in the days gone by, the crew has already shot a substantial portion of the film in Panchgani, Vashi and Pune.

Says Viveck in a relaxed tone, "Over the months there have been media speculations around the completion of Dulha Mil Gaya. It was amusing since more than me they seemed to be worried about the film. There were all kinds of stories circulating around the so-called troubles that the film was facing but my only response to them was - 'Keep Speculating'."

But weren't there murmurs around Shah Rukh Khan being the cause of film's delay? Apparently, he wasn't too willing to spare his dates for the film even as he was busy keeping his other commitments.

"Even I read about this but again, as I said, all this was plain speculation and a wrong one too", smiles Viveck, "Any big film would take its own sweet time to be completed. Yes, there were minor issues but none of them had anything to do with Shah Rukh Khan. He never created problems for Dulha Mil Gaya. My father was unwell for quite some time and I was busy there. He expired some time back and after a mourning period, I resumed work on the film."

Questioning those who have been spreading false stories about SRK being uncooperative, Viveck challenges back, "Have you read any news piece where Shah Rukh himself has quoted anything about being unhappy with DMG? We interact on a regular basis and he has never opened his mouth against the film. Yes, there have been instances where he has been busy but that's understandable. It is a professional thing to do. I don't see any reason why it should be considered as a scoop enough?"

So when do we see SRK's scenes being canned? "This week the film would be more than 90% complete and only a few scenes with SRK remain to be canned", informs Viveck, "There are 7 songs in the film and 6 have already been shot. One song with SRK remains and we can shoot for it anytime in August, September or October, whenever his dates permit."

"We are not in hurry because the technicians at our production house are already on the job. They are keeping busy with the post production and making sure that the end product turns out to be good. It isn't as if the office is running all these years on a film which has been supposedly stalled. Sorry to disappoint a few, but we all are quite charged about Dulha Mil Gaya and making sure that it turns out to be the most talked about film", says Viveck in an excited tone.

So the million dollar question is, when does Dulha Mil Gaya eventually release? "Approximately we are eyeing a January 2009 release. Things are going as per the plan and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to make it on that day", concludes Viveck.

Lara’s new love

Lara Dutta’s exuberant as ever, and completely at ease while discussing her scuba-diving skills.

Yeah, you got it right — she’s indeed an adventure freak. “I’ve learnt swimming and scuba-diving for my film Blue, which also stars Akshay Kumar,” she says with a smile. “Akshay doesn’t really need an introduction to the kind of stunts he does,” she adds with a giggle. Prod her on Blue, and she says, “The film stars Akshay, Sanju, Zayed and me. It’s the first underwater film I’ve done, and it was fabulous shooting for it. We just shot a schedule in Bahamas. It was absolutely amazing.”

Talking about her adventure streak, has she seen the new Akshay Kumar action show Fear Factor — Khatron Ke Khiladi on TV? “I haven’t really had the chance to see it, as I have been travelling since it has been on. But, knowing Akshay, I am pretty sure that it’s quite outstanding,” she says. And yes, none other than Akshay Kumar himself vouches for the lady’s adventure streak. “In fact, Akshay told me while we were shooting in Bahamas that he gave my example to the girls in his show, as to how I did not even know how to swim before shooting for Blue and how I am diving with sharks now in the film,” says Lara.

Besides Blue, she is doing a whole load of films. “ Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai will probably be my next release. It’s a remake of the Hollywood movie My Cousin Vinny. Then there is Do Not Disturb by David Dhawan and, of course, Billo Barber , Shah Rukh’s home production. It has SRK, Irrfan Khan and me,” she says.

With so many films lined up, does she get any time for the ramp? “For the ramp, no. Except for some designers who are friends of mine and whose work I support. So, when they ask me to walk the ramp, I do,” she says.

And, what’s her opinion on the view that models can’t act? “Well, that’s changed now. All of us models have come, and we have like really done well,” she says. Ask her to pick some names and she mentions Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and herself. “In fact, Priyanka comes more from the fashion world, and is even doing a film on the subject. We feel that we have brought about a positive change in the film industry which definitely includes a sense of style floating around,” she says proudly.

Is there any role she has seen on screen recently that she would like to play? “Not really, except for some roles in the films that I am in,” she quips. And well, for all those who don’t know, the lady has cultivated a new hobby. “My new hobby is diving. It gives me a high,” she says. Going by her adventure streak, another hobby she has is riding. “I love riding,” she says. We remind her that the Pune racing season is on. “Oh, no. I am completely off races. I am not in it at all,” she says quickly.

Lara has enjoyed working with David Dhawan. “He calls me his female Govinda. We work well together. Govinda and I have also had a fabulous equation together. I must also mention some of the young directors. Imtiaz Ali is fabulous with the kind of work he is doing. Rajoo Hirani is also a very talented director,” she says.

And, she has a special place in her heart for Partner . “It’s a special film. It was my third film with Govinda. And, of course, working with Salman is very special, not to forget David Dhawan,” she says. And yes, Pune is a special city for Lara. “I won my Femina Miss India here years back and my life completely changed after that. I love coming here and seeing the development in the city,” she signs off.

Hrithik takes 10-15 days to dub, I take only seven, says Katrina

Four of her films in the last two years have been hits. When she came into the film industry, her accent was frowned upon. Her turbulent relationship with Salman Khan has occupied a lot of news space. So has her link-up with co-star Akshay Kumar. She doesn't have friends in the industry because she is perceived to be snooty. Katrina Kaif takes on all these charges, and answers them without batting an eyelid, metaphorically speaking.

You are now one of the much talked about actresses.
(Laughs) A lot has happened for me so quickly in the last one year, I think people are at a loss of words to describe me. But I have really enjoyed my time. None of my films got stuck for a long time.

Has that made you snooty?
I am extremely shy and reserved and it's may be mistaken for being difficult and hostile. Tell me, why would people put up with someone difficult? Those who know me won't say that. Also, for everything you achieve, there will be some people who will pull you down. Maybe they feel I have more than I deserve. But I have worked really hard in the last two years to get where I am today.

Having someone like Salman Khan back you must have helped.
I don't think that's a correct thing to say. Salman is a great friend; Sohail and Sohail Khan productions have been a very important part of my life. They helped me a lot. We have done some wonderful films together like Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya and Partner. And they are people I've turned to and taken advice if I have been in any confusion. But beyond that, I feel people need to respect the work one has done. Otherwise it gets discouraging.

Does that mean you take your own decisions?
I have taken my decisions since I was 16. You have to listen to people's advice but at the end of the day, you are responsible for your own decisions.

And you struggled to break the London-girl tag.
Yes. My progression was slow. I came in with a lot of criticism and wariness around me. Slowly people started accepting me.

And you have an accent.
I never said I don't. English is my first language. But I have started dubbing my own films. I have heard Hrithik Roshan takes 10 to 15 days to dub a film. I take seven days. But that's okay. It means hard work because I have to correct a lot of things. But I am happy to put in that hard work.

So how hard was it to learn the correct Hindi diction?
My diction teacher never wanted me to learn diction. He wanted me to read the Hindi script first. Some people told me I didn't need to. But he insisted on it. Now I feel that's the best thing he could have done.

How so?
Many a time on the sets, you are given your dialogue 10 minutes before the shot. Ninety per cent of the time it's written in Hindi. You need someone to read it for you. I was lucky that my teacher pushed me to read Hindi. Now that I don't need an assistant, I feel more confident.

Tell me about Singh is Kinng?
Singh is Kinng came about when Vipul Shah was completing Namastey London. Vipul told me he is getting into film production with Singh is Kinng. I asked who is the director was and he said Anees (Bazmee) and I said I would do it. I had worked with Anees in Welcome. I didn't even want to get into the script. And Vipul had given me a wonderful film like Namastey London. So I was game.

Without seeing the script?
Ya, I mean Vipul gave me the protagonist role in Namastey London and he didn't question me at that point of time. I didn't think for Singh is Kinng I needed to get into such kinds of detail.

Do you think friendship helps in the industry?
See, nobody is going to put Rs 50 or 60-crore risk because I like you or you like me. It can't happen. I think I can speak for most of my directors and I don't think they have that kind of money to gamble with. You have to take what suits the project.

What about talks about your link-up with Akshay Kumar?
It doesn't bother me the slightest. This industry has given me so much. It's given me a home. It has given me the ability to secure my future, secure my family. What more can you ask for? So gossip is a small thing. Yeah, it hurts some times. I feel why do I bother working at all if people just take away all that I have worked for and hand it over flippantly to someone else? That's not fair.

So you get upset?
Ya, I do. There have been countless people with connections but things haven't worked for them. So you have to give that person recognition for having worked hard and succeeding. I am sure my producers and directors will speak for me on that.

But that picture of you and Akshay at the cricket match...
(Interrupting) Arre, tell me something, you are at a cricket match… kamse kam there will be at least 10,000 people there.

More than that.
Ya, maybe 50,000. I think I am a fairly intelligent person and Akshay Kumar, who is around 43, is definitely an intelligent person. Are we really going to behave like that? Was it a joke? It was ridiculous. There were at least a 100 people standing around in that box and I stood up and the photographers were way down there. They were like specks. They have zoom lens and actually a thought did cross my mind because I know about photography… that with zoom lens you get very distorted angles. Come on, nobody is going to stand like that in an inappropriate manner. This is a good example of people being misrepresented.

The photo was there for everyone to see.
But that was a distorted angle. And if I stand in front of you and lean over to point at something what's the meaning of that? I have worked with Akshay for 350 days between four films. He is a senior person and I have the utmost respect for him. I didn't know how to stand in front of the camera when I did my first film with him.

Every film shoot I have done with him, his wife and child have been there. If you have seen Twinkle, she is a stunningly beautiful person. She makes us look like we don't take care of ourselves properly because she is so well groomed and dressed. And come on ya, people need to give it a rest.

But he is very attractive.
I don't buy that. That's not a reason for anything. I enjoy Twinkle's company more because I am the person who doesn't have the ability to really be outgoing and talk with anybody. And Twinkle is a forthcoming person and she will entertain you and say things like it is. She'll say, 'I like what you are wearing' or 'What were you doing in that shawl'. She is straightforward and honest and I think that's a wonderful quality. I think having a person like that has made a world of a difference for Akshay.

Okay. You, too, look great in Western wear.
Thanks, but I am really excited about Singh is Kinng for a song in which I have worn a sari. Manish Malhotra did the saris for me. I told him to do whatever he wanted to do, just speak to Aneesji about the colour. I love it and I am so excited about the song.

So you are not taking credit for your styling?
Err… well, yes. I would want to take some. To be honest, Rocky S has done all my dresses except Race. Rocky is confident enough to allow me to have a say. I am an actress. I am not a mannequin to just wear any clothes and take pictures. Rocky and I shop for a day or two to get the basic look. Then I let him decide on the bigger picture. Ya, I do take a huge interest in my clothes because, I guess, coming from a fashion city like London, you tend to get that knack.

Any plans of going back home soon?
Oh ya, a family reunion. Only, it's in December. I am going to London for 10 days in the week of Christmas. I am meeting my entire family there - for the first time in five years. All seven sisters and one brother are going to be together. I am really looking forward to it. I hope nothing comes up at that time.

That sounds exciting.
It's amazing. I tend not to be friends with many girls because I have six sisters. (Laughs) And with each of them I have a different equation. I don't trust a woman outside my family because we are so close-knit. My only regret is that we all can't live together.

You sister Isabel is still in town?
Ya, she is going with me to New York in August for my Yash Raj film schedule.

Apparently she has plans to join films?
No... no...she is studying now. But one never knows. (Laughs)

Harman Baweja plays cricket with Ranji players in Jodhpur

If Harman has the pluck to play cricket with the champs, it's because national cricketer Praveen Amre has been taken on as the expert consultant in Victory to make sure Harman gets it right, each time.

Making a cricket movie isn't easy. So, Harman Baweja has discovered while shooting for debutant director Ajit Pal's Victory. Usually, acting is about faking it. And when Aamir Khan played cricket so expertly in Lagaan, he didn't have face up to professional players on screen.

In Victory, where Harman plays a professional cricketer he was pitched against professional real-life cricketers. After playing with pros of the field in Australia earlier this year, Harman on Thursday manoeuvred the bat with Rajasthan's seasoned Ranji Trophy players like Mohammed Ahmed and Abhijeet Sharma.

Sunburnt and suffering from a serious sun- stroke, Harman says, "Earlier in Australia I played with Brett Lee, Stuart Clark and Mike Hussey. I'd like to think I looked authentic enough playing with them. Now I play with Rajasthan's Ranji players since yesterday. And I'm having a ball. Because although I'm playing a cricketer, I'm playing for real. Man, you can't fake it with these guys. And considering Rajasthan has just won the IPL, you can imagine how good these guys are at the game. "

To ensure complete authenticity in the cricket scenes, cricket expert Praveen Amre was deployed all through the shooting. "Praveen Amre was part of the Indian team in the mid-1990s. We didn't want to falter for even a bat of an eyelid, pun intended. Hence, the expert advice," says Harman.

The cricket scenes being shot in Jodhpur show Harman's characters beginnings as a star-cricketer. "It's the story of a cricketer Vijay Shekhawat's rise from a small-town player to a national-level cricketer. My big moment came when these Ranji players said I played well. They told me there's a lot more to cricket than just the shot. They said I looked convincing in the way I wore my helmet, gloves, stood my ground, ran and connected with the field. I worked on all of that. As far as playing the game goes, I was a cricket player from school and college. So, I only needed to brush up the game. It was getting the other details about a cricketer's personality right that was tough."

Since Thursday morning, Harman was playing cricket non-stop for 12 hours. "By the end, of it I was ready to collapse. Everyone else in the crew had breaks. They ran under trees, checked the monitor in the shade while I had to stand in the burning sun and play non-stop for 12 hours, rehearsing and doing final takes…I'm so exhausted by the heat I can collapse right now," says Harman who suffers from a heat allergy.

'3 Idiots' goes on floors

Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Madhavan and Boman Irani has gone on floors. The film is a feel good family entertainer. It has the same warmth, simplicity and fun associated with Raju Hirani's films.

Hirani doesn't want to give away the look of his protagonists right now, which is why the teaser doesn't have any of the actors in it.

The shoot of the film with the supporting characters has already begun. Hirani and his team will be leaving in late August for the shoot with the principal cast. The film is scheduled to be shot in Ladakh, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai as well. Aamir and rest of the cast will begin shooting in early September. Hirani plans to wrap 3 Idiots by December.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra is producing the film. Abhijat Joshi and Raju Hirani have written the screenplay and the lyrics are by Swanand Kirkire. Shantanu Moitra is composing the music for the film.

Salman adds 4 inches to his chest

Yes, Salman’s first period drama Veer is all set to go on the floors on August 6th. And all the confusion over its director has come to an end. After the casting couch controversy it was reported that Sohail might don the director’s hat but now it’s clear that its original director, Anil Sharma will direct it.

Interestingly, Salman is looking plump in all his recent pictures but very few know that his new look with blond hair is for Veer. He has put on weight to fit into the role of a warrior. It is believed that Salman was aware of his look as he himself was involved in designing his character’s look.

A source close to the actor informs that Salman is working out more than before and is also on a special diet. No wonder then that Salman now sports a broader chest. He managed to increase his chest by four inches in just four weeks.

Salman loves to experiment with his look. He sported long hair in Tere Naam and then went bald in the latter half of the film. He will be sporting a smart look in Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraj .

With his tough body, attitude to kill and the confident look in his eyes, we are sure that the character of a warrior will come easy to Salman.

‘I love Ranbir too much!’

Deepika Padukone has been linked to a string of men in the past – from her ex, Nihar Pandya, to Yuvraj Singh.

It’s only now that the rumours have finally stopped at Ranbir Kapoor. So when Rakhi Sawant asks her to clear the air, she gets candid and retorts, “It’s only Ranbir I am in love with. I don’t understand why the media always points a finger at me. It really unnerves me. No one ever talks about what the boy has done to me. I feel men should be taken to task equally.”

Point noted.
A movie with her beau and two more sizzling beauties for company – this would prompt anyone to ask the lady if she ever felt jealous seeing her guy romancing two hot Bollywood babes. To which the actress replies, “I don’t have many scenes with Ranbir, Bipasha and Minissha. I would not say I was jealous but yes, I do hope Ranbir and I get a good film together.”

Chic and gorgeous Deepika also confesses that she is not comfortable with her body shape. When Rakhi probes further by asking whether she would sport a bikini for a Yash Raj movie, she surprises her with, “No. I don’t have the body to carry it off.” And what about her much talked about height? “The actors I have worked with so far are quite short, but that’s not a problem as I anyway don’t like wearing heels. And it should not be a problem any longer because the newer actors are all tall.”

Shahid shakes the top five with third solo triumph!

Just recently (July 15) we carried an article (checkout -Folks, its time for Shahid's annual solo hit!) predicting the third consecutive solo success for teenage heartthrob Shahid Kapoor. We talked about how Shahid had given two humongous solo hits during the last two years by way of VIVAH and JAB WE MET. We also stated that there are strong chances of Shahid continuing the winning trend through another solo triumph with Aziz Mirza's KISMAT KONNECTION.

Well, that is exactly how it has gone. Despite the fact that Shahid's current KISMAT KONNECTION is not carrying very good reports and has not been released at most of the PVR Cinemas (barring East Punjab), the film is looking at a 21 crore opening week total! Given that KISMAT KONNECTION is barely a 17-18 crore movie, and a 35 crore final total being very much possible, a hit tag looks a foregone conclusion.

Quite a feat one has to accept considering how the year has gone by for the Hindi film industry, with just four clear hits in the last seven months. It appears that the time is not far when Shahid Kapoor is officially acknowledged as one of the top five stars of Bollywood!

Time for some 'dhak dhak' to kick start!

DAY 06

-It was BIG so far, it is bound to be BIGGER from here on. 'Dhak Dhak' Queen Madhuri Dixit has joined the show and stakes have gone further up from here. There would be seven shows in USA over next few days and as is pretty much expected by now (looking at the response in Toronto and Trinidad), they are all already sold out. And yes, Madhuri would be featuring in each of these shows.

- Talking about Madhuri, the young ones on the show are already smitten by her charm and grace. That she is gorgeous is hardly a secret but her friendly and cool persona has impressed everyone out there. No wonder, Abhishek, Riteish, Vishal, and Shekhar can't help being mighty impressed by her demeanor.

- Further publicity for the tour is on in full swing in LA. There was almost a daylong press conference held in the city and to everyone's mighty surprise, apart from (obvious) arrival of Indian media, there were also dozens of US based media people present for covering the event. Believe it or not but in there were channel representatives from Afghanistan as well as Persia. Yes, there were Indians galore as well (quite a few belonging to 'Desi' channels and web portals) but what was heartening was to see Fox channel running a special on Unforgettable as well. Videos from the press conference and the tour were beamed by an hour on the channel with international repute! No wonder, LA is rightly termed, as an international center of entertainment

- While there is quite some 'khushi' in the Unforgettable camp, there is a hint of 'gham' as well! Amitabh Bachchan is ill and has been down with flu. It is widely suspected that Shekhar is the reason behind that! Reason? He caught flu the moment he landed in Toronto and while he has more or less recovered, seemingly it has been passed on to Big B! Last one heard, everyone is laughing around and keeping a distance from the composer!!!

- Flu means that Amitabh Bachchan has been out of circulation for two days now. So while all the youngsters are having fun and attending press conferences and cracking jokes and roaming around, the Senior B is keeping all precautions to be in his best shape before the mega event on the night of 26th July. Being grounded by Mrs. Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, Big B has his laptop for company and is keeping himself busy blogging with his fans and followers around the globe!

- Meanwhile, if Madhuri Dixit has made nostalgia come alive all over again for her US fans, Aishwarya Rai is turning out to be the perfect representation of the Indian film industry. She is enjoying a pleasant double role here. While for a wide section she is representing India, for quite a few Americans she is being treated as 'one of them' due to her presence in International cinema for last so many years. She is being queried about the release of the latest installment of 'The Pink Panther' and other impending Hollywood projects. However, not to be carried away and respecting the troupe she is a part of; Ash is sending out clear vibes that she is an Indian at heart and well demonstrated her priorities.

- Going by the true spirit of 'chilling out', everyone went for the screening of 'The Dark Knight'. While Abhishek, Aishwarya and Riteish couldn't resist having a dekko at the film within a day of their landing at LA, Vishal and Shekhar went a day later! Once again, appreciation for the special effects and action in the film came for all around appreciation.

- A lot happened in terms of Bollywood meeting Hollywood over the week gone by. While the team of 'Kambakth Ishq' can't top going gaga over Sylvester Stallone, the team of Unforgettable too had an encounter, which would be unforgettable for them in years to come. They came across face to face with Kevin Costner in the hotel where they all are staying. Costner was in town for the premier of his latest movie 'Swing Vote' and met everyone individually. He has been invited for the show and it has to be seen if he too gets bitten by the Bollywood big!

- Those who visited Universal Studios to witness the shooting of 'Kambakth Ishq' were in for some surreal moments awaiting them. It was quite an experience to see Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and the likes to be shooting on the sets of a Hollywood studio, something that is unprecedented. There were countless onlookers at the shoot was in progress. Later in the evening, Sabeer Khan (director of 'Kambakth Ishq') celebrated his birthday by taking Vishal, Shekhar, and Anvita (dialogue and lyrics writer of the film) for a private gathering in a Japanese gathering. Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani, and the film's crew joined them as well. All of them have been extended an invitation for the show now!

- On the personal front, even Vishal and Shekhar were in for some surreal moments as they got to spend some quality time with Madhuri Dixit all by themselves. The two were strolling around in a mall where they happened to see Madhuri as well. She, along with her husband, looked like a little lost in finding directions in the mall and was looking for a mall. This is when the composer duo came for her rescue (!) and bailed her out. Smiling ever since then, they haven't stopped gushing and blushing! Jokes apart, one facet of hers which has been managed to impress them both is her pleasant and chilled out nature. Not carrying any airs or starry tantrums around her, Madhuri stayed on to be humble-as-ever in her conversations!

- Talking more about Madhuri, highlight of the evening of July 26 is going to be, what else, but the coming together of the Queen and Ash for the 'Dola Dola' number. Envisaged to be executed at a grand scale, everyone is looking out with a bated breath for this one performance. Looking at the response in Trinidad where maximum applause came for anything and everything which was pure Indian in nature and presentation, it won't be surprising if this Ismail Darbar composition goes to win accolades all over again.

Stay tuned!

"I just went blank" - Abhishek Bachchan

It's amazing what a power of three can do to a film and the Tour. Yes, I am talking about the Bachchan family, Amitabh, Abhishek, and Aishwarya. First it was their film Sarkar Raj that grossed almost £400,000 in the U.K. and now it's their Unforgettable Tour which is selling like hot cakes in America. Not surprised to find out that all the shows are almost house full, I was more than curious to know Mr. Bachchan's recovery. So what if one of the power house took a back seat, we still had the power of three. This time it was Jayaji, Abhishek, and Aishwarya who took over the proceedings. Hours before his first live performance in L.A. Abhishek Bachchan sounds upbeat...and why not? He is having a great response from the Tour so far, is highly excited about his next release Drona, is desperate to perform in front of his audience in London and of course, boosting with happiness to see his dad, our very own Big B, fully recovered. All this and much more from Abhi in this exclusive chat from L.A with Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel.

So, how's dad and what do the doctors say?
Nothing, dad's good now. He is just at the rehearsals at the moment. He is back on his feet. He was fine yesterday and the day before. He had a bit of a cold but I forced him to stay in bed because I didn't want it to spread into something which was uncontrollable. So as a son, I demanded that he stay in his room and locked him up. Dad has got a tendency that he pushes himself so much but thankfully he is fine now.

From Toronto to Trinidad to L.A. How's the journey been so far?
The journey has been awesome. The reactions have been over-whelming. I never expected to see this kind of reaction. We were told that every centre, which was to host the show, was pretty much sold out except for the European leg because we haven't come there yet. But America is completely sold out. And all this is just so wonderful because when you get on to the stage and see the audiences reactions, you know that you are not performing for yourself but for them. This Tour is for the audiences and will always be.

First the unforgettable Sarkar Raj collections in the U.K and then this Tour. Looks like London's the hot-spot for the Bachchan's.
London is a wonderful city. A city that is very close to our hearts. We spent a lot of time there as a family during holidays, we've done a lot of work over there and we're very glad that we're going to be coming to London in August. One thing I've been saying to the members of the media that London is definitely going to be the biggest and the best. So we're saving that for the last.

And what else are you doing in your spare time?
Well, there isn't much spare time because of the nature of the Tour. The minute you reach a new destination, you first get into all this media and promotional activities after which it's just down to rehearsals. But it's also important for you to know that nobody is taking this Tour lightly. Everybody is working very hard to put up the best show. We do realize that it is a demanding schedule but the endeavor was to put up the biggest and the best show that we could possibly do and I believe we've got such a show on our hands.

Could you recall one unforgettable incident from your Tour so far?
I think that was when the first time I came on stage in Toronto, the minute the lights come on, I just went blank. I forgot everything and I had to pass through the audience. I froze because the audience was all around and they were jumping around trying to reach out and touch me and shouting slogans. I was totally blanked out. Then finally, my manager Mambo Sharma, who was also from the U.K pulled me and said, "Come on bro, you're on stage, move it". And I replied, "Wait a second. Let me enjoy this a bit more." But it was truly unforgettable. And the unforgettable moment was that I forgot everything.

Mr. Bachchan on his blog stated that Trinidad is like a homecoming for you guys. When you were a five year old, you performed along side your dad on stage for the first time in Trinidad. So how far did that memory go?
Dad used to do a track from his earlier film, Mr. Natwarlal, called, 'Mere paas aao mere dosto' in which he brought my sister and me on to the stage to introduce us to the audience. Now that's a good 25 to 27 years ago. So it was wonderful to go back to Trinidad and win the place in the audiences hearts where we had been before for such shows.

Every Bollywood actor would once dream of dancing with Madhuri Dixit. Any plan?
I have plans of dancing with Madhuriji on the stage in L.A tomorrow night. So the plan is working.

For the first time while working, the Bachchans won't be missing each other. But do you miss the hot Indian food?
No. Wizcraft made sure that wherever we travel, we were very well fed with our Indian ghar ka khaana. Can't miss that for sure!

We are also hearing rumors that Amsterdam isn't going to be the last city where you guys will be wrapping the Tour on the August 29. What else is up the sleeve?
Well, currently there are talks to do another show in Dusseldorf in Germany as they have requested us to do the show there. Plus, the second leg does start post September which will be in the Middle East, Far East and Australia and then we move on to Africa. So the Unforgettable Tour will be continuing. The exact dates though are not confirmed yet.

Everyone is talking about Big B, Abhi and Ash on the stage together. The family is incomplete without Jayaji. Is she going to shake a leg too?
She is on the Tour with us and she will be coming on stage and perform with us. You have to wait and see what song we perform on. Can't tell you now.

After performing some hot numbers on stage in hot locales, how do you plan to cool yourself down after all this tiring schedule?
To be very honest, when you're out there in the audience, you don't think about the heat or the exertion. Their love and support just carries you through every hurdle. You can't think of cooling yourself down. On my part, the minute this Tour gets over, I'll be back in Mumbai finishing my film Dostana and getting ready to release Drona which releases on October 2.

How's the response of the Drona trailer been? Any news?
It's a teaser trailer and the first look into the film Drona. The response has been really huge. On the Drona website, www.dronathefilm.in, the response has been fantastic. Even in the kind of fan mail I'm getting, people are loving the trailer which is great because we've worked hard on it and it's wonderful to see the audience liking the work we've done.

We've also seen couple of exclusive pictures of you, John and Priyanka from Miami while filming Dostana. It's all looking great. Now that you're in the U.S, does it bring back the Dostana days?
Well yeah. I was in Miami not too long ago shooting Dostana. We transited through Miami on our way to Trinidad and Tobago. It does bring back those good days.

Any last message for your fans who are going to see you next month performing in London?
To the audiences in London, we are willing to meet you all. We will hopefully make an unforgettable evening for you. It's a wonderful show and you can be rest assured of a lot of entertainment and a lot of variety. I'm really looking forward to perform at the O2 arena. Love you all.

Where’s the party Shilpa

There’s a party this weekend at St. George Hill Estate, London, and the question is... who’s going to be there?

Hosting it will be our Shilpa Shetty. Not surprising, ‘coz the party is a housewarming celebration for beau Raj Kundra’s new five million pounds mansion. If the festivities tend to get noisy, so what, the neighbours won’t mind.

Not when there are Sir Cliff Richard and some international celeb football stars who are given to throwing boisterous weekend parties themselves.

By playing hostess for Raj, Shilpa is ensuring that the couple’s love story gets social acceptance from his friends and family. A source said, “This is a countryside mansion Raj bought to come and relax at with Shilpa. Otherwise Raj has another house in London itself where the couple will move into after they get married.”

But Shilpa, who met Raj in London after Big Brother, is not talking about marriage. So don’t expect a surprise announcement after the party. “There’s no immediate marriage plans,” Shilpa told BT. “I have a few commitments to wrap up first and will want to take it a little easy after marriage. Let me clear my plate which is full.”

Salman Khan finally reacts to press reports!

Salman Khan finally reacted to a deluge of negative press reports starting with his reported dustup with Shah Rukh Khan at Katrina Kaif's birthday on July 16.

His response was characteristic, if some what pained, and seemed to corroborate our own take on Mumbai tabloids.

For the record, this is the second time a leading Bollywood star has referred to journalists as dogs. Akshay Kumar did as much earlier, responding to allegation of an affair with his trainer, speaking from location in Los Angeles where he is filming for Kambakth Ishq.

Here is what Salman says:

"For the next few days you will hear and read a lot of shit about me, a lot of it. Keep on reading it…but don't react to it. I don't. Like sometimes when you are traveling in a fast car and you find a dog chasing your car…barking away. You don't stop the car and start reacting to the dog…u don't…there's no point. I don't wish to react. I don't have the time for it. Besides, I don't understand the language of dogs, except for my two - Myson and Myjaan.

Unfortunately in our industry the developing trend is not to celebrate others success…every time another person is successful there will be someone trying to pull him down. You don't increase your own efforts to become successful but try to always decrease someone else's success…that's the mantra of the industry. A man is good they say but they say it in the past tense. A lot of people out there talk highly but only once a person's gone…Dead! These people whoever they are - are just doing their job - only what they know to do best.

I chose to remain silent. I do not have the time to spend reacting. But even silence speaks. Silence makes more noise than thunder. …'Bandar Sher ko chidhata hai….' Sirf aawaaz kar sakta hai... Kabhi Sher ko maar sakta hai? He can't do anything. But when the Lion roars, a whole pack of monkeys fall from trees!

So keep on reading…read all the negatives…read till they get tired of writing. Everyone goes through this…but not for long. I say just look good feel good and do good, that's it. I love you all."

Akshay fights with WWE wrestlers in Singh Is Kinng

On the small screen, Akshay 'Khiladi' Kumar may be seen encouraging 13 beautiful ladies to do some daredevil stunts in his new reality show Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi. However, when it comes to the big screen, Akki himself would be seen doing some really brave stunts and action scenes in his forthcoming release Singh Is Kinng.

Bollywood's favorite action hero would be seen fighting with eight WWE wrestlers from Australia in an action sequence in Vipul Shah's Singh Is Kinng.

Says director Anees Bazmee," We had called some eight wrestlers who all are from WWE. They were all very excited to be a part of Singh Is Kinng. Apart from shooting with Akshay, they all spoke to him at length about his films. I was surprised that few of them had even seen his films. They all shared a very good rapport with Akshay and there was this very famous wrestler called Chris who even taught him some tricks in arm-wrestling."

Akshay sure has a special interest in WWE. A few years back, he had fought against famous the WWE wrestler 'The Undertaker' for a fight sequence in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. Now in Singh Is Kinng, he is seen fighting eight WWE wrestlers from Australia. One can't wait to see when Akshay will take on our very own- The Great Khali - (on screen of course). That would be one fight we can't wait to watch.

Mallika turns clapper-girl on the sets of Ugly Aur Pagli

Trust Madame Mallika Sherawat to do the unthinkable! The incident we are referring to took place on the sets of Mallika's forthcoming film Ugly Aur Pagli.

It so happened that the team of Ugly Aur Pagli was shooting late in the night. However, the clapper-boy had to leave for the day. So to not let the shooting schedule get interrupted, Mallika came up with the idea of doing her own clap. And if you are thinking she was kidding or playing a prank, you are wrong. Madame Sherawat was dead serious about what she had just said.

It was a long and drooling schedule but for the entire shoot that night, Mallika gave her own clap for all the scenes. Everyone on the sets was amazed to see how promptly she used to give the clap and start with her shot simultaneously. It was a bit difficult but Mallika did it with out any hitches and managed it quite well.

Must say, this Bindaas babe sure knows how to multi-task.

Taare Zameen Par DVD launch in a complete Masti Ki Paathshala

Attending the DVD launch of Taare Zameen Par literally took me back to my school days. After all, I was seated in the midst of some 200 odd children dressed in their crisp white uniform at the Green Lawns High School, Mumbai. The school which has given India one of the youngest and brightest actors- Darsheel Safary surely was all set for the big day as the cast and crew of Taare Zameen Par arrived to launch the DVD this morning.

Even before the function actually commenced, Darsheel's class-mates and other students of the school were all excited waiting for the actors to arrive. Among the first to come were actors Tisca Chopra and Vipin Sharma (who played Darsheel's parents in the film). They were soon joined by young Sachet Engineer (who plays Darsheel's loving elder brother in the film). However, the kids in the audience went into frenzy when the bright shining star Darsheel Safary walked in wearing a blue T-shirt and a yellow and red jacket. Darsheel was his mischievous self and was seen enjoying himself signing autographs for his own school-mates. All eyes were now waiting for the man of the moment - Aamir Khan to make an appearance. The wait was not too long as Aamir arrived amidst a huge roar from the kids present. He was soon joined on the dais by the principal of the school Mrs. Bajaj and the cast and crew of the film including music composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.

Speaking on the occasion, Aamir said, "It's a great feeling to have the whole Taare Zameen Par team here for the launch of the DVD. Usually, I am very famous for taking my own sweet time to do things. I released the DVD of Lagaan after 6 years; the Taare Zameen Par DVD has been launched in a little over 6 months, so I think that's an improvement." He even had special words of praise for main protagonist Darsheel Safary whom he called on the stage a vivacious brat, "Darsheel is a very happy child, full of life and vibrant. I am sure it's because of the way his parents and teachers have treated him. I must say Darsheel's principal Mrs. Bajaj has been extremely supportive and encouraging. The true test of any school is how happy the kids are and by the looks of it, the children here seem really happy", he said amidst a thunderous applause from the kids.

Finally, it was time for the DVD to be launched and Aamir invited Darsheel's principal Mrs. Bajaj to do the honors. The DVD is a complete collector's delight and is a must have for every parent and child. After the official launch of the DVD, it was time for some fun and frolic as Aamir invited composers' Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy to sing a few songs. Shankar crooned the soulful number 'Maa' from TZP and Aamir along with Shankar later sang a few lines from 'Bum Bum Bole'. Aamir even invited 2 children from the audience who joined Shankar for a song. Finally just as Aamir was about to leave, the kids in the audience asked the 'Perfectionist' Khan to hum a few lines from the current smash hit 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala'. Aamir who initially was a little hesitant gave in to the kids demands and along with Shankar even crooned the hit number from 'Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na'.

As the event came to a close, a good time was had by one and all and the school kids surely wouldn't have felt like going back to their classrooms.

Vivek Obero back from South Africa for Mission Istaanbul Premiere

Vivek Oberoi has not been reading the unflattering stories about himself. "I prefer to read books," he laughs on his one-day visit to India---Mumbai-Pune-Delhi, to be more precise. Vivek landed on Wednesday evening, rushed to Pune for a personal visit, rushed back to Mumbai on Thursday and flew to Delhi for the premiere of Mission Istaanbul, thereby putting an end to all speculative stories about dissociating himself from the film.

Says Vivek, "I requested Tips to let me off just one day. Just for the Delhi premiere. Then I'm flying back to the join the unit. I'm really excited because I'll be seeing the complete film for the first time. Apu has shown me parts of the film. I've heard such great things about the film and my work."

Vivek is currently shooting a hush-hush project with Kumar Taurani of Tips. It features Vivek with Sanjay Kapoor and Vivek has three leading ladies opposite him. But Vivek isn't allowed to talk about it. "Mr. Kumar Taurani of Tips has been treating me really well. I'm shooting for his film in South Africa. It's an action thriller directed by a guy called Kookie Gulati who's actually a fantastic music video director doing his first feature film. I love the script. Beyond that I'm not allowed to say anything about the film."

But wasn't Vivek supposed to be in Mumbai for the Mission Istaanbul press conference? "Yes, I couldn't make it on the 19th. I was shooting in South Africa. You see Mission Istaanbul was supposed to be released two weeks earlier. I was going all-out promoting it for two months. I kept myself completely free for the promotions till the 11th. But when the film got postponed to July 28, I had no option but to join my unit in South Africa. I'm really excited by my character in Mission Istaanbul."

Vivek has completely changed his look and hair for the Tips film. "Since I've to keep my look under wraps I've to wear a cap all the time. I joked with my producer Kumar Taurani. 'Normally actor producer ko topi pehnate hai. This time it's the other way around.'

The last 24 hours was hectic for the actor. "I'm so tired," Vivek said on Wednesday night. "I've flown 23 hours. I've become the jet-setting guy."

An exclusive look at Dostana

Dharma Productions' next release is the Abhishek Bachchan- John Abraham- Priyanka Chopra starrer Dostana. The film is directed by Karan Johar's erstwhile assistant Tarun Mansukhani. A major portion of the film was shot in the sun-clad beaches of Miami and needless to say, the cast and crew had the time of their lives. As can be seen from the still, the trio of AB Jr., John and Priyanka look completely chilled out enjoying a drink on the beach. While John looks super-duper fit, even Priyanka looks sizzling hot in this green dress. As for AB Jr., he looks like a complete dude with a scarf around his neck and cool glares to beat the sun.

The shooting of the film is almost complete barring an item number which is yet to be shot. Since Abhishek is now busy with his 'Unforgettable' tour, the song featuring all the 3 lead actors will be shot only when he returns in September. Dostana is about 3 friends and is portrayed as a cool, fun film. Looks like Johnny boy, AB Jr. and Piggy Chops indeed had a ball shooting with each other in the picturesque locales of Miami. While Priyanka seems to have her hands full with shopping bags, it's quite a funny sight to see John pushing AB Jr. in a shopping cart.

Going by the first look of the film and the chemistry which the actors share, Dostana indeed looks like a complete fun-filled experience. The film is slated to release on Nov 14 this year.

Sylvester Stallone shoots for Kambakht Ishq

Sylvester Stallone shoots for Kambakht Ishq

Sajid Nadiadwala has always been known to be a generous producer who doesn't believe in any kind of compromise when it comes to his films. His latest production Kambakht Ishq, directed by debutante director Sabir Khan has been in the news right from the day when the film was announced. After all, the film stars two of the hottest actors in the industry- Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. Add to it, news that Sajid was even planning to rope in some Hollywood biggies such as Sylvester Stallone etc. for this film and expectations from this film only got bigger and bigger.

Recently, Sajid fulfilled his much cherished dream and got none other than Sylvester Stallone (the legendary actor of films like Rocky and Rambo) shoot for his film Kambakht Ishq. Sly, (as he is known) arrived bang on time at 9 a.m. on the sets at the Kodak theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Bollywood's very own Khiladi, Akshay Kumar was present and the duo shot for an 'award ceremony' scene at the very place where the prestigious Academy Awards are held. Surely, there couldn't have been a better place for Nadiadwala to shoot this scene for his film which is set against the backdrop of Hollywood. Holly Vance, the sensuous and pretty actress (of Entourage fame) was also present on the sets along with Stallone.

While Akshay was seen in a white suit, Sylvester Stallone was dressed at his formal best in a black suit. Stallone and Akki hit it off really well and spoke at length as if they had known each other for a long time. Apparently, Stallone was really impressed by Akki's physique and fitness routine, all about which he enthusiastically enquired. Akshay, no wonder, is seen grinning from ear to ear, after all it's not everyday that the world's most popular action hero congratulates you for your physique.

After shooting the awards ceremony sequence at the Kodak theatre, the cast and crew of Kambakht Ishq shifted to the famous Universal Studios L.A, where Stallone participated in a Rambo-like action sequence with none other than Bollywood hottie Kareena Kapoor. The duo shot for a scene where Sly rescues Kareena from a dangerous situation. The action packed sequence was co-ordinated by noted action director Spiro Razatos who has in the past worked on films like Vantage Point, 21 Grams and Bad Boys 2. After the shot, the Hollywood hunk was really impressed with Bebo and even told her , "You are a pretty girl." Bebo couldn't stop gushing on being complimented by Slyvester Stallone.

For producer Sajid Nadiadwala this was certainly one shooting experience which he wouldn't forget for the rest of his life. An emotional Sajid said , "Its indeed a highpoint of my career to be working with an icon like Sylvester Stallone .We have all grown up on Rocky and Rambo. And today I feel blessed at having the opportunity of working with him right here in Hollywood." As for Sly, he surely had a good time with the cast and crew. While almost all his dialogues in the film are in English, there is a scene where the macho actor even speaks in Hindi. Wow! Now Sly, saying his lines in Hindi is something we can't wait to watch. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala just hopes that this film serves as a pipeline for opening up more Bollywood- Hollywood ventures in the future. "I guess one door opens the door to many others. This has been an enriching experience for all of us. And I am sure this is just the beginning of our company's association with Stallone", signs off the producer.

Kismat chamki

How do you know if a film is faring well at the box-office? Generally, one gets the feedback from trustworthy sources, also from the correspondents and exhibitors screening the film. But I've realized that the tone in which the distributors speak gives away the verdict of the film.

The distributors, who've invested their hard-earned money on a film, never mince words when a film bombs. And the tone only gets better [excited/happy/thrilled] when the film hits the bulls eye. I've realized this over the years. In fact, the excitement shows in their body language!

This week, as I spoke to the various distributors of KISMAT KONNECTION, I realized that the film had passed the weekend test with distinction marks. The weekdays did witness the normal drop, but it wasn't alarming, as a section of the trade was hoping it would be.

UTV has placed a lot of trust in Shahid Kapur. Besides distributing KISMAT KONNECTION globally, the corporate house has two more films lined up with Shahid - Vishal Bhardwaj's KAMINEY and Ken Ghosh's STAR [will it be a new title, Ken?].

Releasing the film at 720 screens in India and 200 abroad was a carefully thought of strategy. It also takes Shahid into a different league. He's above the Abhisheks and Johns, in the sense that a solo Shahid starrer has fetched a flying start at the box-office, for the second time in a row. Generally, solo Abhishek and solo John starrers don't.

As things stand today, KISMAT KONNECTION is a plus film for sure. The first week theatrical business should be in the range of Rs. 20 - Rs. 23 cr. nett, which is commendable for a film that had Shahid Kapur as the sole driving force. This, despite a leading multiplex chain not screening the film.

I genuinely feel sad for RGV. He's a true genius, in my opinion. But what is he churning out intermittently? CONTRACT is such a letdown from a maker who has delivered such fine films in the past. And the audience apathy showed in its business.

The collections are so poor, I'm sure RGV must've got a fright when he must've checked the day-wise business reports. This one's a debacle!

Overwhelming response indicates likelihood of 3 additional shows

DAY 04

- Let's talk about the big news first. As per reliable sources, looking at the overwhelming response in Toronto and Trinidad, the tour has been extended by a day. Instead of Amsterdam hosting the grand finale on 29th August, Düsseldorf has been added to the scheme of things. While a show being held on 30th August at Düsseldorf is a certainty, there are also chances of a couple of more shows being added to the tour in the first week of September. Stay tuned for more updates!

- Coming back to what stars did in the day gone by. Well, most of them decided to enjoy the day off and catch up on some well deserved rest. The best part about their stay in LA was some good Indian food though! Everyone from Bachchans to Vishal and Shekhar (who arrived a day later after chilling out for an additional day in Trinidad) was treated to sumptuous Indian food which came as a bonus.

- Vishal, his wife, Shekhar and the rest of the band spent most of their time traveling. After their flight being delayed by an hour, insult to the injury came in the form of their aircraft continuing to hover around in the air before landing at LA. It was way past 1 AM that they eventually checked into the hotel.

- The hotel is a beauty in itself though! An exclusive super posh hotel at the famous Sunset Strip in LA, it boasts of a personalized villa for each of the stars (yes, you read it right)! Not just it offers a private dining hall and other basic facilities for everyone residing out there, it also boasts of a common courtyard where friends can come together for a chat. With a welcome champagne bottle helping everyone in regaining energy, the hotel is making sure that it turns out to be one 'unforgettable' outing for the visitors from India.

- No wonder patrons are extremely exercised about the hospitality extended by the hotel. Not just are the arrangements impeccable, for those looking at flexing some muscles, there is a famous gym out there which is touted to be THE BEST in America. Ahem ahem, someone out there is already thinking of getting into an extensive work out! However, what Vishal is longing for is the BEST BREAKFAST in America. Well, it's his tummy doing all the talking on an off day!

- Each of the stars is busy making his/her own plans of visiting varied zones in LA. While all of them have plans to get together for the screening of The Dark Knight later in the evening, in the day time a few of them are also planning to visit Universal Studios. Vishal for sure is quite excited since he would be catching up with the crew of Kambakth Ishq which is currently shooting at the studios. The common person present would be Anvita Dutt Guptan who has written the lyrics and dialogues of both Kambakth Ishq and Bachna Ae Haseeno.

- Meanwhile, Shekhar has all the plans to blow away his hard earned money in a matter of a day! Reason? He is aiming at hitting the jackpot in numerous casinos in LA. Has he ever won in the past? Well, he claims so, though people close to him state otherwise! Will he turn lucky? Stay tuned and we would report on that as well!

- Stupendous success of Toronto and Trinidad has resulted in word of mouth spread fast in the European continent as well. Since the show has been widely successful so far, number of other European cities (where there are currently no plans for the show to be hosted) are also showing keen interest in hosting the stars from India. Will they oblige and make it 'unforgettable' for the Europeans as well? Well, it is a wait and watch situation. Till then, everyone is looking at chilling out for one more day before getting ready to hit the stage once again on 26th July!

Aamir Khan to launch TZP DVD at Darsheel Safary's school in Mumbai

Aamir Khan's blog is testimonial to the number of requests that he has been getting to launch the DVD of Taare Zameen Par soon. The DVD of Aamir Khan Productions' first film Lagaan was launched after almost six years; however with Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan was very keen to launch it immediately as it is an important film in respect of child education.

Aamir Khan has been working relentlessly for the last six months and has even added some interesting features to make the DVD a collector's delight.

Now for all you die-hard Taare Zameen Par fans, who have been waiting for the DVD since months, here is some good news. Aamir has decided to launch the DVD of Taare Zameen Par tomorrow (July 25) and that too in a function to be held at Darsheel Safary's school Green Lawns at Warden Road, Mumbai. Trust the Perfectionist Khan to do things differently and in grand style; the DVD would be launched by none other than Darsheel's school principal. Apparently, Aamir strongly feels that principals and school teachers play a key role in the education of a child. In fact Darsheel Safary's principal sets an example of how educators should allow a child to follow their dreams. She has been very important in giving Darsheel permission to shoot and adjusting his education on sets.

Hence, Aamir thought the she would be the right person to launch the DVD of this sensitive film. Well, with the DVD launch happening tomorrow, its time to rush to your nearest store to grab a copy of this landmark film.

Sanjay Dutt's solo song from Alibaug goes out

With Irrfan Khan finally taking over Sanjay Dutt's role in Sanjay Gupta's autobiographical Alibaug, there are further tragic developments in the ongoing saga of the severed friendship between Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta. The elegiac love song that Gupta recorded in Dutt's voice for Sanjay Dutt will now have to be scrapped.

"We'll have to get it done by a professional playback singer now," informs Gupta hours before the shooting resumes at an art gallery in Mumbai. "It won't be correct to have Sanjay Dutt's voice for Irrfan." Irrfan says he wouldn't mind lip-syncing to Dutt's voice. "But the only problem is, Sanjay Dutt has such a strong personality and image, and a voice to match. Audiences will immediately identify his voice and refuse to accept it as my voice. So I'd think a playback singer for me would be far more preferable."

So what happens to the footage and song from Alibaug featuring Mr. Dutt? "I guess it's of archival importance. One day I hope to sit down with my near and dear ones and look at what we shot and recorded as proof of how much Sanjay Dutt and I shared once," says Gupta. Interestingly, in spite of the Dutt-Gupta rift, Sanjay Dutt's special appearance in Gupta's Woodstock Villa was retained. "But that's because the song was filmed on Sanjay Dutt. Here we cannot go in the reverse direction and have Irrfan singing in Sanjay Dutt's voice," Gupta concludes.

Alibaug isn't the only White Feather film where Irrfan has replaced Sanjay Dutt. The role in Acid Factory that Irrfan did was also written for Dutt. In fact, promos with Dutt were shot. Does Irrfan enjoy replacing Dutt in Gupta's production house? "I don't see it that way at all," protests Irrfan. "No one can replace Sanjay Dutt. He has such a unique personality voice and body language. I can only bring my own personality into the roles and make them something quite different."

Aamir unplugged

Aamir Khan is going through the best phase, professionally. "No one can predict which way the pendulum will swing, before a film releases. But JAANE TU… YA JAANE NA has fared beyond my expectations. It's a JAANE TU… YA JAANE NA wave right now, like it was when BOBBY had released. The euphoria was also witnessed during QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK, MAINE PYAR KIYA and KAHO NAA… PYAAR HAI. I only wish Chachajaan [late Nasir Husain] was alive to share the happiness. He was very close to Imran," Aamir tells me as we meet again for a heart-to-heart conversation.

Read on…

With Imran's debut vehicle proving a major hit, is Aamir guiding his nephew how to go about in his career? "I would never do that. It's important to take your own decisions. You must learn to walk without crutches. Right from the start of my career, I took my own decisions… I made mistakes, but those were my mistakes. I think, I've learnt more from my failures than hits and I would advice Imran the same," Aamir states.

But a number of people feel that if one wants to sign Imran, it has to be via Aamir. True? "Yeah, that's what everyone feels. In fact, a number of people do call up, enquiring about Imran, but I tell them, 'Yeh lo number, Imran ko khud phone karo'," he laughs.

While on JAANE TU… YA JAANE NA, Aamir has incorporated a song that was deleted from the final version. "It's my favorite number, but Mansoor, Abbas and I took a call jointly. We felt the song was only making the film lengthier. But since the results are out, the song has been added in its third week. Initially, we thought of retaining it for just one week. But looking at the feedback, we may stretch it to three weeks. However, let me add, the song will not be a part of the final cut in the DVD. It will be featured in the unseen portions," Aamir divulges.

With GHAJINI complete and slated for release in November, Aamir will begin shooting for Rajkumar Hirani's film from August onwards. "It's called 3 IDIOTS. We didn't get the title [IDIOTS]… I am looking forward to working with Madhavan and Sharman Joshi [the RANG DE BASANTI team]. Kareena is now doing the film," the soft-spoken actor states.

The topic moves on to his next project. Has he thought of his next directorial venture? "Not yet! I haven't started looking for stories either. Earlier, I was busy with GHAJINI, then the release of JAANE TU… YA JAANE NA took most of my time," Aamir confesses. But the buzz is, Aamir intends casting Bachchan Sr. in his film. "I was at a loss of words when Mr. Bachchan said that he would love to work in a film directed by me. He's my favorite actor. It would be a privilege to direct him, but like I said, I haven't zeroed on a subject yet," Aamir says.

What about DELHI BELLY? Reportedly, the film will be made in English, not Hindi. "That's true! We are targeting at the global audience. I don't want it to be a bilingual [Hindi, English]. We tried that earlier [MANGAL PANDEY], but it didn't work," he says. With Ranbir Kapoor not part of the project anymore, will Imran step in? "Ranbir couldn't do the film due to date hassles. As for Imran, let's see. We haven't taken a call yet," Aamir states.

Madhuri Dixit in a never before role

Pritish Nandy communications and up coming film maker Megna Gulzar are trying to rope in Madhuri Dixit for the comedy film with the unusual title '36-24-36'.

The full length role of the protagonist that has been offered to Madhuri is said as a one of its kind one and one which the senior actress has never done before in her long and illustrious career in Bollywood.

Megna Gulzar says that the Madhuri loved the script and became very interested in doing the film after she heard the script on her recent visit to India.

The director also feels that the role can be done with utmost perfection only by Madhuri.

As the title indicates the film's story deals with measurements and weight loss which is a very contemporary subject if the latest craze for being size zero among girls is considered.

The only issue that had to be dealt with while trying to get Madhuri on board was the fact that the actress lives in U.S.A and cannot stay apart from her little kids for too long

So there is every chance that the film will be shot in U.S.A. as the producer Pritish Nandy Communications have considered the limitations faced by the actress and decided to shift the location to U.S.A if needed.

Sanju to play peacemaker

The news of the Shah Rukh-Salman fight has reached Cape Town, South Africa where Sanjay Dutt is shooting for Chatur Singh Two Star. Sanju is close to both Salman as well as SRK. The fact that they were involved in a scrap deeply dirsturbs him.

Speaking from Cape Town, Dutt says, "I still can't believe what's happened. I am shocked! I am so glad I am out of all this. It would have been painful for me to have seen something that involved two of my dearest friends."

B-Town is going through a state of flux after the SRK-Salman fight with most stars picking camps. Is he going to pick a side? Dutt says firmly, "No way! I am very close to both and it would be impossible for me to take sides.

Both Shah Rukh and Salman are like my younger brothers. I love them dearly and it wouldn't be fair of me to side with one of them. I have never been associated with any camp. I don't intend being part of one today."

His thoughts on the fight? Dutt says, "I can't comment on that. I am sure everyone has his/her own perspective; but what happened was very unfortunate. I am sure things could have been amicably solved."

Dutt has always been known as an elder brother who has been there for the industry when any situation has taken place be it raising funds for tsunami victims or fighting for a cause.

Has he tried to patch up things between SRK and Salman? "Well, I am busy shooting in South Africa right now but I will definitely try and do something when I am back."

'Don't invite guests if you're going to insult them'

Insiders are of the opinion that Dutt was shocked at Salman's behaviour. Says a source, "Sanju and his wife Mana felt that it was rude of Salman to invite Shah Rukh and then insult him.

You can't insult your own guest no matter what issues you have with him. If you have problems with someone, don't invite him to your party."

Salman refused to shoot a particular scene in Yuvraj

Anil Kapoor had to spend some testing moments on the sets of Subhash Ghai's Yuvraj at Film City, Goregaon recently.

The actor was left cooling his heels when co-star Salman Khan did not turn up for the shoot of a particular scene.

And even when he did later, Sallu went about doing his own thing much to the chagrin of Anil.

It is learnt that in his quest for perfection, Sonam's dad desired that Sallu also be present in a particular scene for its betterment. As requested, the director informed Sallu in advance.

At the said hour, Anil initially had to wait for Salman to arrive on the sets. And even after Sallu arrived, he paid no heed and went about doing his own thing. As a result, the scene was not canned.

Says an onlooker, "Anil appeared clearly agitated by Salman's strange stance. Even though he knew about the shoot and arrived on the sets, he behaved as if he was unaware. He remained holed up in his vanity van."

It is also learnt that Anil was extremely agitated and gave a piece of his mind to whoever was around on the sets. Subhash Ghai then had to pacify Anil and take control of the situation.

Adds the onlooker, "Salman had bailed out Boney Kapoor earlier during No Entry. As a result, Anil did not want to indulge in a slanging match with Sallu."

When asked about the episode, Anil is agitated and denies the incident. He says, "Don't write about such petty things, yaar! I am not upset with Salman. Why should I be?"

Then why was he conspicious by his absence at Sallu's bash for Katrina Kaif's birthday?

Especially when he is a regular fixture at Salman's parties?

"That's because my children were there and I wanted them to enjoy themselves without feeling my presence there," maintains Anil diplomatically.

Katrina - From short skirts to sarees

While Bipasha Basu is busy being her seductive best in recently launched promos of BACHNA AE HASEENO, Katrina Kaif continues to play her sweet-n-innocent part well. For her upcoming release SINGH IS KINNG, she has jumped out of a short skirt into a nine-yard saree with effortless ease.

The best part about this transition is that while she gets her Barbie doll act quite well when seen in a skirt, her persona while being seen in a saree is quite a revelation in itself. Neither does she look indecent in her short dresses as she jumps around with Akshay Kumar in the number 'Jee Karda', nor does she look out of place as she romances with him in a serene 'Teri Ore'.

Enjoying the best of both worlds, Katrina Kaif has experimented with her looks and attire in SINGH IS KINNG. Thankfully the experiment has paid off as she is enjoying compliments galore from all quarters for her different looks in the film.

Akshay's gesture: Flies to Toronto from LA for a day just for the Bachchans

Akshay Kumar's life has become a crazy blur of activities. He has been shooting non-stop in LA for Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakth Ishq. He shot with Sylvester Stallone last week and then flew for a day on Friday to Toronto to be part of the Bachchans' first 'Unforgettable' concert.

The concert on Friday night went off spectacularly. On Sunday he was back in LA shooting for Kambakth Ishq. Says a source, "Since it's a stuntman's role Akshay has been given to do some of the most complicated stunts of his career. And there's no question of using body doubles. Akshay has decided to do all the stunts himself. How can he play a body double and get a body double to do the action scenes? Akshay wouldn't allow it although the producer Sajid Nadiadwala thought some stunts were way too dangerous. Out there at Universal Studios, all Hollywood actors are insured against dangerous stunts."

As though going black and blue with the breathtaking stunts wasn't enough, Akshay was also moonlighting in LA doing dance rehearsals for the Bachchan's 'Unforgettable' tour. Speaking from LA, Akshay said, "I joined the Bachchans for the first of their 'Unforgettable' concerts on Friday night (July 18) in Toronto. With the shooting and the rehearsals, I didn't know whether I was coming or going."

This is the only concert in the Bachchans' 'Unforgettable' tour that Akshay participated in. "There's no time for me to cram in any more activity," says Akshay who's currently stationed in LA with his wife and son, "far away from the maddening gossip and idle talk in Mumbai. I'm not bothered with what they're saying about me at home. And I'm happy that way."

More happiness spilled out when Akshay shot with Sylvester Stallone. Says a source very close to Akhay,"He had no time at all for the concert. But he's doing this for the love of the Bachchans. Akshay really respects the Bachchans. And Abhishek is one of his favourite co-stars. When Abhishek was still struggling, Akshay has predicted he'd be a star. Akshay really believed in Abhishek. When he was offered the concerts with the Bachchans, he accepted one performance as a token gesture and that too in Toronto which is like a second home to Akshay."

Adds Akshay, "Amitji is the most respected actor in our country. I'd do anything he asks me to. I wanted to do the concert in Toronto and I'm glad it went well."

The Unforgettable Tour

The much hyped 'The Unforgettable Tour' is currently on and we at Bollywood Buzz would be giving a day by day account of all the fun and happenings.

So join the all the stars and audience and be a part of the biggest ever show which features the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Preity Zinta, Vishal and Shekhar. Of course, there are guest appearances (Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, Shilpa Shetty) galore too that add spice to the proceedings.

Here we give an account of all the hype and hoopla which followed the moment all the stars landed in Toronto, the first city where they were slated to perform in this worldwide tour.

- At the Toronto airport itself, there were dozens of fans who waited patiently for the stars to descend from the airport lobby. As expected, it was a hysterical response with crowd greeting the performers with hysterical cheering!

- Amitabh Bachchan wasn't upset but highly amused with British Airways. Reason? They had misplaced close to a dozen suitcases belonging to the Bachchan family. Apart from regular stuff, the suitcases also contained the costumes which Bachchans were required to be wearing during press conferences as well as the shows. While Big B did quip that his informal attire in the press conference was courtesy British Airways, many were left wondering whether he would also go ahead and sue the airlines.

- Press conference itself was a grand affair because regardless of the event being outside Mumbai, close to 400 odd media people were present in full strength while bombarding the group with questions. Arrangements were impeccable as each of the stars was seated on exclusive sofa sets with media going around the hall and given an opportunity to interact with each of them on an exclusive basis. Neat!

- Security provided to the stars was world class with each of them enjoying a personal security guard for company at every move. Powered by walkie-talkies and all the associated gadgets, these guards were themselves pretty cued about the people for whom they were responsible for the security and couldn't help smiling away with the big moment they found themselves in!

- Gifted with a VVIP treatment, the stars have a Limo to their disposal. Not just that; the drive across different venues is 'pucca filmy' with the Limos being protected at both ends by a couple of bikes each which make sure that the road ahead is kept clear! Kya style hai!

- Big B also ensured that no one from the technical team ever get hassled by any stray incidence. When there was some problem with some equipments, resulting in an engineer getting harassed, he comforted him and made sure that he tried rectifying the problem with a cooler head. From someone who has seen the industry and been a part of countless shows for decades, Amitabh Bachchan was chilled out and didn't let any minor mishap hamper the spirit of the team.

- Last one heard, Amitabh Bachchan continued his reputation of being a trail blazer when it came to preparations before the show! Hours after landing in the city and a brief rest later, he was there in the rehearsal hall and pepped up everyone else to come up with their best. He rehearsed non-stop with everyone else and didn't show any signs of fatigue whatsoever! No wonder, the youngsters were left wondering about the spirit and never-say-die spirit of the man who is well into his 60s!

- Vishal and Shekhar were left amazed when they visited the stadium to have a dekko at the arrangements before the show. Grandeur was simply surreal as they realized that the stage set there was as tall as 5 stories! The venue (Rogers Centre) has a capacity to accommodate more than 15000 patrons and was already sold out before the kick start of the show!

The day when Toronto rocked

DAY 01

As promised, at Bollywood Buzz, we continue our coverage on Unforgettable, the biggest ever tour which features the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Preity Zinta, Vishal and Shekhar. In the first show at Toronto which also saw Akshay Kumar getting the house down with antics, the response was exhilarating which only paves the way for days to follow. Read on to know the highlights of the big day!

- Before the show began and the stars descended on stage, Amitabh Bachchan got all the lead performers together for a prayer. It wasn't aimed at wishing something from God; instead it was a get-together where Big B took a resolve from all to go all out and entertain the audience. He said, "We are here to entertain everyone and it is our responsibility that all who come here go home happy. Let's give our best and make sure that we as well as audience have a great time out there!" No wonder, it touched the hearts of all the youngsters!

- Rogers Center, venue for the show at Toronto, was jam packed with 10000 people even before first of the stars arrived on stage. No wonder, by the time the event had reached its peak, organizers had to make space for close to 5000 more!

- A renowned local band kick started the event and warmed up the audience with their performance. No one was complaining though since it was only acting as a good enough appetizer for the main course to follow. There were cheers all around and though thousands out there were getting impatient and restless to have a dekko at the stars, it was only adding on to the euphoric mood at Toronto.

- The wait was finally over with Riteish Deshmukh arriving first on stage. Amidst all the fireworks and magnificent lights, he simply banged the stage out there and took the crowd along with him with his performance on the title song from Cash! This was followed by a few more songs which included the chartbuster track 'Ae Chori' [Cash] and eventually ended with the super hit song from Heyy Babyy. Crowd loved what Riteish did and if the kind of reception that the young actor received was any indication, there was clearly a lot more in store from the event to follow!

- It was quite stupendous in the manner Abhishek Bachchan announced his arrival. Emerging from the middle of the crowd with spotlights following his ascent to the stage, it was an ear-shattering response with Junior Bachchan marking his arrival with the song 'Dhadak Dhadak' [Bunty Aur Babli]. Even as he performed solo for this song where he only had background dancers for company, he didn't mind it all as he occupied the stage at all corners.

- Aishwarya Rai did what she is best at. She turned the crowds crazy with her 'Krazzy Kiya Re' act followed by her portion of 'Dhoom Again', the title track from Dhoom 2. 'Dil Lagana' and a few other songs followed too and by the time she was through with her performance, the word of mouth had spread amongst the crowds that this would indeed be one 'unforgettable' tour!

- To give audience some respite from all the heat being generated, the organizers also wisely incorporated a small 3 minute segment on the evil of global warming. Mixing message with entertainment, the event made sure that it carried a lot more depth to it than being simply frivolous.

- As the event started peaking up, crowds were swelling by hundreds. Barricades were being broken and so high was the crowd on energy that security urged stars to request audience to remain patient and just enjoy the show!

- Composer duo of Vishal and Shekhar saw a huge entry to their name with a huge screen displaying a film on their work. The moment the men behind Om Shanti Om and recent blockbuster Bachna Ae Haseeno arrived on stage, pyrotechnics were in full force as a deafening sound preceded the band which played numbers like 'Aankhon Mein Teri', 'Dard De Disco' and 'Deewangee'. It was a maddening crowd out there as Vishal-Shekhar continued to enthrall the audience with one chartbuster after another, especially the most recent one being the title track from Bachna Ae Haseeno. Post this; they left the stage for Amitabh Bachchan to make his much awaited entry.

- Big B's mere presence on stage made all the difference as the reception he got from the crowds was unprecedented. He didn't come up with anything flashy or dramatic; he merely walked the stage and acknowledged the crowds, all of which resulted in a frenzy. A near 15000 crowd was unstoppable from this point on as Big B began LIVE singing of yesteryear songs like 'Jahan Teri Yeh Nazar' [Kaalia], 'Dekha Naa' [Bombay To Goa], title track [Don] and 'Rang Barse' [Silsila]. Last heard, Vishal-Shekhar are looking at incorporating two more songs - 'Mere Angne Mein' and 'Iir Beer Phatte' - in the Trinidad show!

- Akshay Kumar was supposed to be making the much awaited 'special appearance' into the show and he didn't disappoint thousands who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the superstar. Powerful as ever on stage, he performed to the Snoop Dogg version of the title track from Singh Is Kinng. This time around he also had RDB for company and together they made sure that the thump wasn't missing for a single moment while Akshay occupied the stage.

- Highlight of the show was a cheeky number that Akshay played on an unsuspecting girl! He picked her from the audience, asked for permission from her grandma, proceeded to take her to a large red bed (on stage of course) and sung 'Bheege Honth Tere' [Murder]. Not just that, he also (hold your breath) gifted her some exclusive lingerie and a pair of high heels!

No wonder, the city of Toronto is still smiling!

The Unforgettable Tour takes Trinidad by storm

DAY 02

The Bachchans’ Unforgettable tour kicked off in grand style in Toronto last week. After a spectacular show in Toronto, the next destination for the ‘Unforgettable’ gang was Trinidad. The Unforgettable Stars comprising of the Bachchan trio, Preity Zinta, Riteish Deshmukh and Vishal Shekhar were warm-heartedly greeted by a jam-packed audience who flew in from different parts of the Caribbean to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime extravaganza.

- The magic of Indian Cinema came alive at the Queens Park Cricket Club where fans queued up since the afternoon to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars. The stunning acts of all the Unforgettable Stars left the audiences craving for more and after each performance, the stadium echoed with the word, Encore!

- To add to the spectacle, Amitabh Bachchan sang a traditional Caribbean calypso song and had the crowd go hysterical with excitement. Abhishek Bachchan promised the over-whelmed audience that the stars will come back to West Indies, a place which has always given them love and support.

- The response to the show has been so phenomenal that there are now plans to add new destinations to the tour’s first leg in Europe. In the days to come, the grandeur of The Unforgettable Tour will now travel to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Atlantic City, Chicago, New York, London and Rotterdam.

Hrithik’s floored by a Delhi fan

Hrithik Roshan, who was in Delhi recently, met a diehard fan of his during the visit.

The young admirer showed him a scrapbook full of the photographs that he has been collecting for years.

The book had photographs that trace the journey of the actor since he started his career in Bollywood. Looking pleasantly surprised, Hrithik exclaimed, “I myself don’t remember what I used to look like when I started my stint with the industry. I am completely floored by the effort that must have gone into making such an exhaustive compilation of photographs.”

What caught our attention was the blue bandage on the actor’s right wrist and hand. The actor who had recently undergone a knee surgery, revealed, “Arre, you know me na, just got hurt while shooting.” Though his wrist will get better soon, Hrithik will not be seen doing the superb dance that he does quite often because of his knees.

Hrithik is in the US currently, where he is shooting for his next film, Kites, directed by Anurag Basu. Delhi-based designer Suneet Varma is styling Hrithik’s look for the film. “Hrithik is superb to work with. He is highly professional and very particular about his looks and styling,” said Suneet. We are sure the Delhi touch will stay with the actor for a long time!

Bollywood biggies at Katrina's b'day bash

Bollywood turned up in full force to wish Katrina Kaif on her 24th birthday.

The birthday was celebrated at a Mumbai hotspot and Katrina was accompanied by her mother and sister, Isabelle. And by the entire Khan family, including mother Salma, Helen, brothers Sohail and Arbaaz along with wives and sisters Alvira and Arpita.

Saif and Kareena were there, Karisma came with Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep and Anu Dewan. Arjun Kapoor was present and so was Arpita, together at the same venue after their break-up some months back. They kept their distance. Amair Khan was the last one to arrive, after 1.30 am. After which the three Khans - Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh – were seen engrossed in conversation.

Shah Rukh came in with Gauri and helped a TV cameraman when he fell down. Khan picked him up and made sure he was fine. However the press was not as cooperative later. They thronged him, making it impossible for Gauri to get into the car. Gauri gave up trying after a while and began walking down the road with Alison Kanuga. Karan Johar joined her, and got her back. Gauri did manage to squeeze herself into the car, only to land on SRK’s lap.

Salman almost lost his temper at mediapersons who refused to let Helen and Salma alone, but managed to control himself.
All the major filmmakers from the industry were present including Karan Johar, Rajkumar Santoshi, Kunal Kohli, Imtiaz Ali, David Dhawan, Anees Bazmee, Manmohan Shetty, Prakash Jha, Rohan and Ramesh Sippy, Nikhil Advani and others. More roles for Kat? Surprisingly no one from the Yash Chopra camp was present.

Finally at 3 am, the cops came in and stopped the party as it was way beyond the official 1 am. Sallu argued a bit, then gave up and called it a day.

I’ve no problems with Salman: Priyanka Chopra

For a birthday gift on Friday, Priyanka Chopra could not have asked for anything as disastrous as the box office flop of her latest (and much hyped) film Love Story 2050, that introduced beau Harman Baweja. If she’s disappointed by the reviews and rejection, the actress does not show it.

“It was an attempt at making something different. The special effects will still be a bench mark in this country,” she said defensively. But, no, she staunchly doesn’t think a director younger than Harman’s father, Harry, would have made a difference to this futuristic film. “It’s a hypothetical question, but I don’t think so,” she said dismissively. One year older, and wiser, she maintains that her fab figure (that the box office cannot deny) today is the result of over working and not taking time to rest. Priyanka, who finds birthdays very depressing, said, “I started getting depressed the day I hit 19, and now I’m like s*** man!”
Another touchy subject of this year: her equation with Salman Khan. Apparently, the actor was miffed by Priyanka’s unprofessional behaviour on the sets of God Tussi Great Ho, compounded by her refusal to act in brother Sohail Khan’s Mr & Mrs Khanna.

“I don’t have any problem with Salman,” said Priyanka. “I’ve worked with him in some of my earliest films and I’ll always respect him.” But then... “I haven’t discussed this with him so I’m not really sure what’s on that side.”

Those are the only clouds in her sunny skies, otherwise Priyanka’s kitty is full this year with one release after the other. “There’s God Tussi Great Ho, Chamku with Bobby Deol, Drona with Abhishek Bachchan and then Madhur’s Fashion,” she counted, “It’s like having exam fever every month.” With Harman Baweja, she’s doing What’s Your Rashi? What’s this “good friend” business with him? “I don’t want my personal life to be dinner conversation,” she said. Gettit?

Abhi learning from Ash

Abhishek Bachchan has tremendous respect for his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as an actress. And what’s the one thing he’s learnt from her?

“Her wonderful attitude,” says Abhishek, and goes on to explain that Aishwarya considers even her regional films as important as her Hollywood films. “She’s done films in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and English. We’re all, as actors, a large community of entertainers.

If we get inspired by a story, we love to work in other languages as well,” he says. And what about Hollywood? “I don’t know why we make this huge thing about Hollywood,” he adds, “Yes we have tremendous respect for it, they make wonderful films, but we have large respect for our films too, and that includes our regional films.” Hmmm, so like wife, will we see Abhishek doing a regional film too?

Dhak Dhak Karne Laga in USA

The show’s begun, and Madhuri Dixit Nene is slated to dance for the Bachchans all across the US from July 26, with audiences knowing little of the preparations the Dhak-Dhak girl had to endure to get up there live on stage after 15 years.

Husband Dr Sriram Nene, who was gung-ho about her participation, expressed doubts about how she would make time to attend the strict rehearsals Shiamak Davar was putting the cast through in Mumbai. “He asked me whether I was ready to go through the grind... with my kids and all,” said Madhuri to BT from her home in Denver.

Then Shiamak showed his best move of the rehearsals. He sent dancers Sura and Nazim, the couple that runs his studio in Vancouver, to Denver to put the Bollywood dancing diva through her new paces.

“Oh boy, Madhuri was not only a fab student, but she’s a mind-blowing human being as well,” exulted Shiamak. She practised six hours day, with sons Arin and Aryan joining her sometimes. “I feel it’s like re-connecting with my past,” revealed Madhuri who is dancing to her old hits and returning to active work for the first time since her disastrous comeback to Bollywood last year with Aaja Naachle .

She is happy to work with the Big B with whom, in Bade Miyaan Chhote Miyaan, she did a song... but more excited about the duet she is to do with Bachchan bahu Aishwarya. Incidentally, Madhuri’s first such world performance was in 1994 and it included newcomers like Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Kapoor!

Arora sisters, Malaika and Amrita snubbed Sallu’s girl on her birthday

If you think wives or girlfriends of two brothers only fight in mediocre TV shows, think again. It happens in real-life too. We discovered that Mailaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif cannot stand the sight of each other, and that's why Malli skipped Kat's birthday party at Olive, Bandra on July 16.

The party itself has become quite controversial. Apart from the SRK-Sallu jhagda, a lot of people are miffed at not being invited.

An actress on condition of anonymity says, "There were a lot of strange omissions.

Arjun Rampal and wife Mehr Jesia, Farhan Akhtar and wife Adhuna. Lali (David) Dhawan was invited but Salman's best buddy Sajid Nadiadwala's wife Wardha was not. Arbaaz came minus wife Malaika, although she was very much in town. Malaika's sister Amrita, who is shooting in Los Angeles for Nadiadwala's Kambakht Ishq didn't even bother wishing Katrina on her birthday!"

Even Amu's best buddy, Kareena Kapoor didn't bother to SMS or make a courtesy call to wish Kat on her birthday. In fact, the actress was upset with her sister Karisma for attending her rival's party.

A source who attended the party says, "Most actresses in B-Town are not fond of Katrina and her snooty ways. In Salman's family, his younger sister Arpita and sister-in-law Malaika never warmed up to her. Salman's parents too don't like her but suffer her for their son's sake as they feel she makes him happy."

When quizzed about her absence at Kat's party, the usually forthright Malaika doesn't deny anything but says curtly, "I was busy shooting at Film City (for Star One's Zara Nachke Dikha) and didn't have the time to attend Katrina's birthday party. In any case I wasn't aware about any party till the last minute."

An insider from the Khan family adds, "Malaika had different excuses for different people.

To some people, she said she was busy with her shoot, while she told others , that she had a fever. The truth is, she didn't want to attend the party. Hubby Arbaaz kept calling and asking her to drop in for some time but Malla stayed at home."

It is believed that Katrina made the list and asked Salman to invite people. She wanted all the industry biggies at her bash to make a statement about her power and status in the industry. But the fact remains that the industry showed up because Salman invited them.

Malaika says, "I am sorry but I can't comment on this."

Host Salman and guest Shah Rukh almost came to blows at Katrina’s birthday bash

Katrina Kaif's birthday at Olive Bar and Kitchen, Bandra on Wednesday brought out hidden hostilities between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan out in the open.

An eyewitness at the party reveals, "Salman was already high when SRK and Gauri walked in. After downing a few more drinks, Sallu started picking on SRK." Apparently the host was upset with SRK because he turned down Sallu's request to do a guest appearance in Main Aur Mrs Khanna, which is being produced by Salman and Sohail.

Salman felt snubbed as he has always gone out of his way for SRK, whether it was appearing on KBC with girlfriend Katrina, or dancing for SRK's home production Om Shanti Om. The resentment was bubbling under the surface, and under the influence, Salman dropped the façade and began lashing out at SRK.

The Khans were sitting across each other, surrounded by a few close friends, who quickly moved away when things started getting heated. Shah Rukh, who is famous for his hot temper, didn't react to Salman's outburst initially but when the abuse continued, he began trading insult for insult. The source continues, "Sallu told SRK, 'Your show Paanchvi Paas is a big flop and now you are trying to sabotage my show. You are a matlabi insaan. You only call people when you need them, and then don't keep in touch.'

SRK not one to take name-calling lightly, told Salman, 'No one wants to watch your show, or be friends with you'. At this point, Salman told SRK to keep quiet or he would beat him up."

Shah Rukh, who often describes himself as 'Delhi Ka Goonda' laughed and told Salman, 'Tu kya marega? Tu haath toh utha, main maroonga tujhe. Woh bhi teri party main, aur tere doston ke saamne.' The two men stared at each other and would've come to blows within minutes had Gauri not intervened and told SRK that she wanted to leave. SRK allowed his wife to take his arm and the duo left the party. Salman didn't try to stop them.

Salman and Shah Rukh's first panga goes back a long way when they fought during the shooting of Chalte Chalte (2003) which was being produced by SRK. At that time, Salman was dating Aishwarya Rai who was acting in the film. A high Salman had barged on to Shah Rukh's sets to meet his girl and disrupted the shooting. An upset Shah Rukh replaced Aishwarya with Rani Mukerji. The two Khans stopped speaking to each other.

They patched up at Farah Khan's sangeet on Dec 8, 2004. Salman went up to SRK and hugged him emotionally and a truce was called.

Priyanka ki Tamanna poori

Where Salman hosted a birthday bash to his girlfriend Katrina, Harman didn't stay behind in the race in surprising Priyanka. Like a sweet "close friend" (as they call each other), Harman flew down Priyanka's best friend Tamanna from Delhi to give her a surprise on her birthday yesterday.

According to a source, "Harman wanted to make it a really special birthday. He knew Priyanka's hadn't met her best friend since almost a year. Tamanna is a married and a working girl, which makes it difficult for the two sahelis to meet each other often. Beau Harman called Prinks friend and convinced her to take a day off from work and fly down to Mumbai for her birthday. He made all the arrangements for her and sent his driver to fetch her at the airport."

The source further adds, "It was not only her best friend Tamanna who was part of the surprise package but all her other close friends who hadn't met her for some time now.

There couldn't be a better gift for Piggy Chops loves her family and her small group of friends. Some of her cousins were part of the surprise package too. Harman collected the entire jhing-bang at China House and took Priyanka there, giving her a surprise."

"Harman's first birthday gift to Priyanka (during his Assistant Director days) was a card and a small pink soft toy," reveals an insider.

Sukhwinder is Shah Rukh's voice again!

'Chaiyya Chaiyya', 'Kuch Kariye' and 'Dard-e-Disco'! So, why are we mentioning the hit numbers of King Khan, rendered by the matchless, Sukhwinder Singh? Well, there is a reason and a very good one too!

It is a well known fact that whenever Sukhwinder has lent his vocals for a song picturised on Shah Rukh Khan, it has turned out to be a blockbuster. Whether, it was the entertaining dance number atop a train, 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' (DIL SE) or the most recent 'Dard-e- Disco' (OM SHANTI OM), the Sukhwinder-SRK 'jodi' has always belted out chart-scorchers! And now the good news is that the same 'jodi' is back once again to enthrall us all and this time around the composers are the talented duo, Salim-Sulaiman. Yes, it is the same combination that gave us the (unofficial) National Sports anthem, 'Kuch Kariye' (CHAK DE! INDIA) which can be heard even now at almost every victory celebrations featuring Indian teams.

Well, Salim-Sulaiman has once again roped in Sukhwinder Singh to render two of their compositions, to be picturised on Shah Rukh Khan in Aditya Chopra's upcoming RAB NE BANA DI JODI. One hears that the songs were recorded recently and news is that they are both awesome tracks!

Akshay 'KINNG' Kumar creates hysteria!

Canada got its share of royalty with the 'Kinng' of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar. The super-star, who flew in from Los Angeles that morning, was in Toronto to unveil a massive billboard of his upcoming biggie, SINGH IS KINNG. Remarkably, this is the first time that an Indian film has been advertised at a prime mainstream Hollywood theatre location, creating history of sorts.

2008 marks 10 years of Bollywood in Canada and what better way to celebrate than have 'Kinng' Kumar doing the honours! The promotional event saw a turnout of more than 3,000 cheering fans chanting SINGH IS KINNG. British-Asian group, RDB did a live act before Kumar made his grand entry. Humility personified, he refused to sit on the throne that was kept for him, and got an overjoyed press photographer to perch on it instead.

He recited the Punjabi verse, which he has rendered in the title song of SINGH IS KINNG and implored onlookers not only to watch the film upon its release but also attend his stage show with the Bachchan family later that evening. He declared his love for Canada, which he said was his second home, and added, "When I retire, I will move my family to Canada and settle down here."

Commenting on the king-size hoarding of SINGH IS KINNG on the fascia of the cinema, Hemant Bhardwaj, Sr. VP, Intl Operations, Studio18, said, "I feel proud that the International team has created such a historic event for the most awaited film of the year. I hope its larger-than-life marketing will have the audience thronging to cinemas."

Akshay exclaimed, "I've always received an incredible amount of love from the people of Toronto; my films have met with a great response here. I'm glad that Bollywood is finally getting its due and even more elated that SINGH IS KINNG has heralded this change!"

Producer Vipul A. Shah added, "Akshay has already acquired legendary status and I can't think of a better way to start this new chapter in the history of Bollywood in the international market! He's an actor who has progressed faster than anyone else, and has emerged a superstar, a true 'Kinng'! We're delighted that our film has been the one to set a precedent for others in the industry."

SINGH IS KINNG releases internationally on August 7.

Imran Khan to star alongside SRK!!

Imran Khan's implausible performance in JAANE TU...has impressed one and all. All the biggie filmmakers of Bollywood are looking forward to work with the young lad.

And one such filmmaker is Karan Johar. If the buzz is to be believed than Karan has approached B-town's latest heartthrob Imran Khan to essay the character of a terrorist in his forthcoming Shah Rukh Khan starrer film MY NAME IS KHAN where SRK will be seen in the role of a NRI who later resorts to terrorism because of the difficult circumstances he faces. According to the hearsay, initially Ranbir was approached for the role, who for some reasons refused to be a part of it, which Imran will play now.

Apparently when Karan saw JTYJN he got enthralled by Imran's work and at once decided to approach Imran for his next outing MY NAME IS KHAN. However it is heard that Imran is rather cautious than excited to star alongside Baadshah of Bollywood and has been seeking advice from mamu (Uncle) Aamir for that matter.

"Apoorva wanted me to be strong and think strong to act strong" - Vivek Oberoi

What happens when you stop a Bollywood star who is just about to board an international flight? He'd say 'Sorry, not now'. But if the man in the picture is Vivek Oberoi, what then? I'm sure he'd remind you of Maya in Shootout at Lokhandwala and you'd rather not mess with him. Here, the story took a bit of a turn. Nicknamed 'Tiger' and 'Rockstar' by his friends and colleagues, Vivek Oberoi is on a high these days because his director thinks Mission Istaanbul is his best work till date. Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel grabs the actor moments before he boards his flight to find out his comment on the quote, his bad and good guy image, his mission and lots more interesting answers to some hard hitting questions.

So, Maya is back after Shootout… to complete his Mission... What say Vivek?
(Laughs out loud) I like the way you put that. Very creatively done. Have you ever thought of dialogue writing? Actually, I am really excited. 'Maya' was a big bad boy who ended the Shootout. Here the good guy is going to complete his Mission. Rizwan Khan (Vivek's character in Mission Istaanbul) lost his own family, his wife, and his child to a bomb blast in Ankara. So, he takes an oath that he will try and protect as many innocent lives he can from the dreaded terrorists. That's his mission, he is the hero and the good guy. But having said that, his attitude is a real bad one and that's what I love about him.

Gabbar Singh's famous dialogue 'Jo Darr Gaya, Samjho Mar Gaya' has been transformed by Apoorva Lakhia, which reads 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai'. So who's right?
Gabbar Singh was a legend and the dialogue is part of history. You don't mess with legends. But as far as 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai' is concerned, it rocks for us. Rizwan Khan (Vivek Oberoi) forgot to get introduced to fear. He is that kind of guy (laughs). There is a situation where Vikas Sagar (Zayed Khan's character), tells Rizwan Khan which is my character, "Wahan pe bees armed security guards hain yaar, andar kaise jaayenge?” to which Rizwan smiles casually and says, "Pahuncha doonga.” And the next moment, they both are in. He breaks through everything and lands up killing the bad guys in the terrorist network. He is in the cold zone where 40 people are staring at him from their work desks and are shocked to see how this guy came there. Rizwan then comes in and casually looks at all of them, loads his automatic weapon and questions, "Bahar jaaoge ya upar?"

Chiseled looks, bulging biceps and long hair is what we haven't seen much of from Mr. Oberoi. What went into creating such a look?
Rizwan Khan is such a cool guy that in terms of the clothing, styling and everything was an extension of his personality. When I read the character itself, it was so cool. I mean, he is the kind of guy who'll land up anywhere, anytime. That is precisely what Vikas Sagar tells him, "Rizwan Khan tum toh bhoot ho yaar, kahin se bhi aa jaate ho aur kahin se bhi nikal jaate ho." Anything that is impossible, he'll make it possible with a wink of an eye. One wanted someone who could physically also look like that. Rizwan Khan had to have this demeanor that we had never seen before. Dilshad who is my hair stylist, did my hair, and Falguni Thakore did the clothes and designed the entire look. On the other hand, Apoorva was working with both of them in tandem to create the entire image of Rizwan.

What went into your exercise regime? Did you have to build your six-pack and then shoot the film?
The first thing that Apoorva narrated to me was a scene where Vikas Sagar is running through the grand bazaar with six guys after him to kill him. And just as you think that he is going to get killed any minute, in the nick of time, a guy comes from nowhere, grabs him and pins him up against the wall and takes care of the six baddies in thirty two seconds single handedly. Rizwan is that strong. Apoorva wanted me to be strong and think strong to act strong. Therefore, there was little more that went into my training, even though we actors have to stay fit. Here I had to stay extra fitter.

When I spoke to Apoorva last week, he said that he had Abhishek Bachchan in mind before he signed you for the role of Rizwan. Do you consider yourself lucky?
You know, it's been strange. I think many people don't know this but my first two films - Company and Saathiya both had Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. I got a break because Abhishek didn't do Company and then I got Saathiya for the same reason. Even in Apoorva's previous film Shootout at Lokhandwala, he had considered Abhishek to do a full fledged role but only managed a special appearance. So all this is rather quite interesting. People remember that Saif Ali Khan did Hum Tum after I said no. I couldn't do that film. I think it's destiny for all of us. Someone's loss is another's gain.

We have seen you at your best in Company and Shootout. In between, you have a bit of Masti as well. But then again you are on a Mission. Should we change your name to Versatile Oberoi?
Thank you so much. It's a very nice compliment. It actually goes with my initials too (laughs). Many critics tell me that I should stick to roles like in the two films you mentioned. Critics will always be critics but the point to remember for me everyday is that I'm a greedy actor and I like to do every kind of role whether it's action or comedy. Recently, at the IIFA Awards in Bangkok, I had twenty pretty girls apprehend me. They grab hold of me and told me that we are going to threaten the action hero. The point they conveyed to me was that if I didn't do another love story for them, I'd be in big trouble. They said, "We supported you through Shootout, we are supporting you through Mission Istaanbul and are going to see it but it's time you do a love story.” So yeah, I am doing different stuff now. I am excited. I'm doing a big film in South Africa with Tips and that's a huge solo hero film for me. After that, I'm doing Karan Johar's film with Rensil De Silva directing and writing it which also stars Saif and Kareena in it. And there is this love story which I am doing and is being developed in the first quarter of next year. It's a very sweet, Saathiya kind of feel.

You will remember this interview as it's your last before you check in the immigration to go to South Africa. So who and where is the leading lady of the film?
Ahh! That's a big surprise.

This is your first film where you've performed some daring stunts all by yourself. Were you willing to take such a risk?
That's actually untrue. I've been performing stunts from my very first movie. Infact, I earned the nickname 'Tiger' because on my very first schedule in Kenya for the film Company, I was challenged to leap across from a six-storey building to a five-storey one. I went across the entire length of the road and landed on the other side. In Mission Istaanbul, too we are coming down from a 44-floor building. That was mad and insane but had to do it.

Does Mika's 'Apun Ke Saath' start from where 'Ganpat' ends?
Absolutely. It was always meant to be a follow up to 'Ganpat'. 'Ganpat' was such a rage and such a big sensation that we wanted to take it to the next level and promote Mission Istaanbul. 'Apun Ke Saath' shows the attitude of Rizwan Khan.

I have to be a bit biased here Vivek. But what do you have to say about the young Gujarati boy Chirantan Bhatt who is just 21 years old and has given chartbuster hits like 'Mission Mission' and 'Nobody Like You'?
Oh, my God dude, I didn't even know that Chiru's name is Chirantan Bhatt. We call him Chiru. But I'm really happy for Chiru and Hamza who have worked with him in both these songs. They have done a great job and very happy with not only the two songs you've mentioned but the entire album. I think, by far my favourite is 'Apun Ke Saath'. The kind of dynamics, lyrics and cool quality that Mika has come up with after 'Ganpat' and the kind of response it got at the IIFA Bangkok is truly unbelievable. Everywhere I go now people associate me with this song.

One of the most clichéd questions for you Vivek. How was the experience of working with Zayed Khan?
It was great man! All these guys were cool. They were fun to work with and we worked pretty hard, partied pretty hard too. All in all a great experience.

That's a short answer.
Well, that doesn't make it clichéd, does it? (Laughs)

Mission Istaanbul is a film, which will have its own target audience. Do you think the film will work in the overseas?
One never thought that Shootout would do very well in the overseas audience. But it did. In the Middle East, it did terrific business. The audiences mindsets are changing. They are accepting change. There are liking different kind of cinema. So we're hoping. Overseas has a big audience and are important for the success of our films. If Mission works in the overseas, we all will be very happy.

Any plans of having a premiere in Istaanbul.
Yeah. Apoorva always wanted that. I don't know how much of that is going to be possible. At the end of the day, one wants to have a big premiere in Mumbai and then fly off to Istanbul the very next moment. It's not as easy as it looks. If it happens, it will be exciting and awesome. But that really isn't my call. It's between Apoorva, Suniel Shetty and Balaji.

Besides filming, what were you up to in Istanbul?
We had a blast man. I mean, I am a complete party animal. When I get days off, I love to club all the way through the morning. One of the other nicknames that I've earned from college days is 'Rockstar'. That's not because I'm musically inclined in anyway. I can't play any musical instruments. If I party, I've got a golden rule. I don't come back before seeing the morning sun. You party all night, see the sun, and then go home.

Aren't we going to see any romantic side of you in Mission Istaanbul?
No man, not this time. You'll just have to wait a year more.

I know you have to check in now. But before I say Bon Voyage, one last question. Your director says that Mission Istaanbul is going to be your best performance till date. What are the odds?
I am really excited about that statement. It's a really big statement to make. But I don't know. I've given my best, worked an entire year, I've not done anything else and focused only on Mission Istaanbul. I hope what Apoorva says is true. He keeps telling me that. I haven't even seen the film yet but I have faith and belief in Apoorva.

Any message for your fans before you board your flight to South Africa.
A big Thank You straight from my heart. When I was not doing well in films, the one thing that kept me going was the belief in my fans and the support, which they have shown for me. Every little 'I love you Vivek' which comes out from them makes you feel so special. My fans aren't just statistics for me, they are the reason for who I am today and where I am.

Salman proposes marriage to Katrina

Is Bollywood's most eligible bachelor going to tie the knot finally?

It sure seems like a possibility, as Salman Khan proposed marriage to girlfriend Katrina Kaif on her 24th birthday on July 16.

The actor had thrown a big birthday bash for Katrina, and the who's who of tinsel town was invited -- including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, as well as Katrina's mother and sister.

As the deejay turned up the volume for the title track of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Salman proposed to Katrina on bended knee.

"She didn't know how to react with Salman's gesture," said a source, who was present in the party.

Salman seemed to want to fulfill the wishes of his contestants on Sony Entertainment Television's 10 Ka Dum as well, as many of them have suggested that he get married.

'I really respect their love for me but why is everyone concerned about a very individual choice? It is a personal choice,' Salman wrote on his blog, adding, 'There is a saying, 'Shaadi woh laddoo hai joh khaye woh bhi pachtaye jo naa khaye woh bhi pachtaye. And I don't like sweets, so it does not concern me.'

Salman and Aamir's arty dosti

Over the past two days, the atmosphere at Salman Khan’s house has been festive, thanks to Katrina Kaif’s birthday yesterday. Salman Khan and his family started celebrating Kat’s birthday at the stroke of midnight on Tuesday.

And it wasn’t just the Khan family that was excited about Kat’s birthday but also Aamir Khan. Katrina got a surprise visit from Aamir Khan who wished her on Tuesday night. Salman was so happy over Aamir’s visit that he gifted him a painting.

Our source says, “Aamir Khan had no clue that a private party was going on at Salman’s house to bring in Katrina’s birthday. It was a private ceremony and only Salman’s family members had got together for a little celebration at Salman’s residence in Galaxy Apartment at Band Stand in Mumbai.

Arbaaz Khan as well as Salman’s sister Alvira had brought a cake. Apart from them, Sohail Khan, Atul Agnihotri and designer Rocky S were also present at the dinner party. Salman called Aamir at around 1.30 am and asked him to come over.

Aamir immediately obliged. When he reached Salman’s house he was surprised to see that a party was on in full swing. Aamir wished Katrina and spent some time with all of them. Salman then showed him some of his recent paintings, and Aamir loved them. In fact, only Salman and Aamir went to the former’s room and had a long chat.

Aamir was impressed with Salman’s creativity. Sallu immediately took a pen and paper and made a sketch of Aamir in his Ghajini look. Aamir was present there for about four hours and was seen leaving the Khan residence at 5.30 am on Wednesday morning.”

The Salman-Aamir friendship certainly seems to be going from strength to strength.

Priyanka's Expensive B'day Gift BMW 7 series

Priyanka Chopra is taking a much-needed break on her birthday today. The actress will spend time with her family and close friends.

Her dad, Dr Ashok Chopra, is gifting her a BMW 7 series, which costs around Rs 90 lakh.
A source close to Priyanka says, "She is so tied up with work that she hardly gets any time to do things for herself.

For the last four years Priyanka has been driving around in a Mercedes E class. She has been wanting to buy a new car but even though she often talked about it, she never got around to buying a new vehicle.

The family decided that her birthday was a perfect opportunity. They decided to get her the new Mercedes SLK 500 but finally settled for the BMW 7 series. Since Pranks (as beau Harman calls her) already had a Merc, they decided to buy her a different car."

The source adds, "Priyanka is not having any bash. She has been working non-stop for the past four months and just wants to spend quality time with her dear ones. She might visit an orphanage in the evening."

It is also learnt that Harman, too, is taking the day off to be with Priyanka on her birthday.

Shahid Kapoor at Fame Adlabs to promote Kismat Konnection

B.O. Update: 'Kismat Konnection' opens well, 'Contract' poor

The well-publicized KISMAT KONNECTION caught the industry by surprise by fetching a good start in the morning shows at multiplexes. Generally, most films open in the 25% - 35% range in the early shows, but KISMAT KONNECTION had a 70% start and at some places, even 85% +. The multiplexes maintained very well during the course of the day. With this film, Shahid Kapur moves into the top bracket vis-à-vis the number of prints in circulation [720 screens in India and 200 in the overseas market, according to a press release distributed by UTV]. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be strong at multiplexes again.

On the other hand, CONTRACT had a poor start -- between 10% and 15% -- at several screens. The reports are negative and the film is not likely to sustain.

Kismat Konnection - Movie Review

Simple stories, told in the simplest manner, have been the hallmark of all Aziz Mirza films, right from RAJU BAN GAYA GENTLEMAN to CHALTE CHALTE. KISMAT KONNECTION, the veteran's new outing, is no exception.

The characters we watch on screen are relatable, their problems are the type that we've either heard of or experienced ourselves, the love story and the conflict in the tale also comes across so real. Like Mirza's previous films, KISMAT KONNECTION is also not heavy on your senses. It's a simple, feel-good fare that charms its way into your heart.

Since Mirza has only worked with the Numero Uno star, SRK, in the past, the first question that crosses your mind is, does he get it right with Shahid? And the second question is, is the chemistry between the lead pair interesting? Thankfully, the answers to both the questions are in the affirmative.

But there's just one hitch. KISMAT KONNECTION takes its own sweet time to reach the finale [yes, it's lengthy in the second hour]. Besides, it gets slow-paced as well. Yet, all said and done, KISMAT KONNECTION is a film that makes you smile and that is its biggest triumph.

The last word. KISMAT KONNECTION is a pleasant experience, sunshine cinema that lingers in your memory even after the show has concluded.

Raj [Shahid Kapur] was numero uno. In academics, sports, dramatics. But four years after winning the best-student-of-the-year trophy from his architectural college, he's wondering why a brilliant architect like him, with designs to set the Canadian landscape on fire, is still struggling to find that one big chance to showcase his mettle.

It's almost as though some negative kismat is following him around because whenever something good is about to happen, it seems doomed to fail.

Desperate to get rid of the bad phase in his life, Raj meets a quirky oracle, Hasina Bano Jaan [Juhi Chawla]. She tells him that soon his stars will change and make everything work in his favour; but for all this to happen, Raj has first to find his lucky charm and never let go of it. But she tells him no more, leaving Raj mystified, trying to figure out what this charm could be.

Suddenly, his life seems to be on the right track. He's managed to impress top builder Sanjeev Gill [Om Puri] into giving him a prestigious project.

Priya [Vidya Balan] is a tough-talking, tough-decision taking girl with a heart of gold. She is an idealist who is intent on making the world a better, more humane place and is quite willing to fight a lone battle for it.

Raj succeeds in persuading Priya that he's the Messiah who can save her beloved Community Centre from destruction. And also opens her eyes to her philandering fiancé [Amit Verma]. Raj even manages to thwart the evil designs of old-college-foe-turned-deadly-professional-enemy Dave [Manoj Bohra]. Does this mean that Raj has unwittingly discovered his lucky charm?

Recall Aziz Mirza's movies. In practically all his films, the protagonist is aspiring to make it big in life. There's a constant struggle on both levels, personal and professional. KISMAT KONNECTION is no different. Sure, KISMAT KONNECTION isn't entirely original. It bears an uncanny resemblance to JUST MY LUCK [2006; Lindsay Lohan, Chris Pine], but it has been adapted quite well in the Indian milieu. What also sets apart is that Mirza's films have a subtle message and KISMAT KONNECTION is no exception.

KISMAT KONNECTION is primarily a love story that viewers may have visited several times in the past, but let's not forget, romance can never ever go out of fashion. Mirza and co-director Haroun Mirza succeed in presenting the highs and lows in a relationship with maturity. The situations are simple, there's no place for melodrama here. But Mirza should've taken care in maintaining its pace and length in the second hour. The film could've easily done away with a number of scenes.

Pritam's music is ear-pleasing. 'Aai Paapi' and 'Bakhuda Tumhi Ho' are haunting compositions, while Ahmed Khan's choreography in the former takes your breath away. Binod Pradhan's cinematography is top notch and the icing on the cake is the breath-taking locales of Canada.

Shahid is a complete natural, very likable, very believable. Post JAB WE MET, the actor has attained that rare confidence which shows in his performances. Watch him get the emotional moments right and you know that the actor has only matured with time. You may have pre-conceived notions vis-à-vis his pairing with Vidya, but let's tell you that they look perfect. The trimmed hair and minimal makeup make Vidya look pretty. Acting-wise too, she pitches in a fine performance.

Juhi tends to go over the top, but that's the demand of the role. Om Puri is first-rate. Himani Shivpuri is fantastic and her Punjabi accent will bring the house down. Vishal Malhotra is efficient. Manoj Bohra acts very well.

On the whole, KISMAT KONNECTION is a simple film that has its own charm. It's no path-breaking cinema, but it works. At the box-office, its kismet should be strong at multiplexes and the wide release, coupled with no opposition, will help its distributors reap a benefit. Business in Overseas, where it has been given an extensive release, should also be good.

I rarely talk to Kareena: Shahid

That Shahid Kapoor is a man of few words is fairly well-known. After maintaining a dignified silence over his much-publicised break-up with longtime girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, the only thing he wants to talk about is work.

To begin with, after a six-month stint away from the media, the reclusive Shahid, who’s not really basked in the success of Jab We Met, finally has plenty to look forward to.

And we are not talking about his ‘friendship’ with Sania Mirza, Vidya Balan or Amrita Rao, which has ensured he’s got reams of printspace. Shahid’s got a brand new film (Kismet Konnection), what looks like an image makeover and a cheerful attitude about life in general.

His character in KK is a lot like the real Shahid. “Much like him, during my struggle days, I have spoken white lies just like we all do in our quest for success,” he says.

Quiz him about those rumours linking him with Vidya Balan, who’s rumoured to be ‘close’ to him and Shahid firmly admits that while shooting, “Vidya and I have become good friends. It was fun working with her as she is a great actor and an easy person to work with. We look good together on screen and I hope people like us”. A gentle query about his one-time friend Kareena Kapoor, and Shahid sounds diplomatic and cagey, “Kareena and I rarely talk. Beyond that I would not like to talk about it.”

In fact, even though he has been spotted watching Sania Mirza’s matches at Wimbledon and the two are reported to be serious about each other, Shahid

doesn’t seem to be in a tell-all mood. Not that he denies his liaison with Sania, but he doesn’t seem keen on talking about his love life at this point. “I am a normal 27-year-old guy. But honestly, there’s no romance
brewing in my life. I don’t want to hide the details, but I don’t want to talk about them either. I believe some things in my life are personal and I would like to restrict information on my personal life. Eventually, people will know what the truth is.” he says.

Ranbir is high on love

Ranbir Kapoor who is very excited about his upcoming film Bachna E Haseenon got into a little problem while shooting a romantic number ‘Khuda jaane’ in Italy.

It so happens, that choreographer Ahmed Khan insisted that Ranbir shoot the song on the top of a hill. But, Ranbir is scared of heights and everybody on the sets was aware of this and everybody was surprised when Khan remained adamant about it.
Our source says, “Ranbir has vertigo and everyone knows about it. However, he had to shoot on a hill which he had to climb and hence was pretty scared. But, he went ahead with it because choreographer Ahmed Khan insisted.”

Ahmed Khan says, “Yes, it is true that Ranbir has a problem with heights. We were shooting in Italy. The shot required him to be on the top of a hill which was about 90 feet high. Even though he was scared he said that if I wanted, he would shoot the scene there.”

But, Deepika Padukone was there to help him tide over the difficult situation.
Ahmed says, “He was on the top of the hill for about two hours for the shot. Deepika was there with him all through. We sent him water and sandwiches there. Poor guy, he went through all this obediently.”

Salman Khan meets his look alike

A mirror is an object of desire to many (read 'all'). But, if one were to think of the same on a philosophical level, then, it gets revealed that it's not the mirror, but, it's the mirror image that one is in love with! And can you imagine what will be your plight when you see your mirror image standing in front of you? Well, we are only asking you to imagine. But Bollywood's darling Salman Khan actually lived the experience of seeing his mirror image - live in flesh!

This happened on the sets of TV's most popular game show these days - 'Dus Ka Dum'. Salman Khan met up with his look-alike on the show, who, in real life, happens to be a dancer. While dancing in the show, the look-alike was really surprised and shocked (to say the least) to see Salman sneak up from behind him and strike a similar pose! What happened after that was out of anybody's imagination. Even as Salman was talking to his look-alike, the young man walked away as he was totally confused on coming face-to-face with his idol! One can't blame the poor guy though, because after all, he was in front of THE Salman Khan! On seeing his look-alike walking away, the real Salman in his usual trademark humor shrugged and remarked "Salman Khan sure has attitude!". We simply second that, Sallu Mia!

Assumptions?

B-Town buzz was that Bebo was extremely upset when Imtiaz, who she refers to as her favourite director, did not cast her in his next flick after their big draw, Jab We Met.

Even though it was Kareena's beau's production, Imtiaz preferred Deepika to co-star with Saif. And the outspoken Bebo had even voiced her resentment at an awards event.
Imtiaz, who is back from London after a long schedule of Saif's movie says, "I guess everyone assumed that Kareena would be part of it. Moreover as Saif is the producer, it was just taken for granted. I have heard that Kareena voiced her displeasure, but she did not directly say anything to me. As a director I have to see what the storyboard demands and accordingly do the casting. It's not that there was any tussle on that front; the fact that we are working together again proves it."

The film will also be penned by Imtiaz. "It's still in the initial stages so I can't divulge much right now. I prefer to work at one project at a time so as soon as I wrap up Saif's film, I will concentrate on it. By early 2009, I hope to roll the project with Kareena."

Bebo is presently in the US shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakht Ishq. Her secretary Zahid Khan confirms, "Yes, she has said okay to this project. She's pretty excited about it. After all, it's her favourite director, producer and co-star too." On Tuesday, Imtiaz had a meeting with the producers to chalk out the details. Dhilin Mehta of Ashtavinayak, adds "We have discussed the various aspects of the project. After Jab We Met we were looking at working with the same team and here it is."

The only person missing from the Jab We Met unit will be Shahid Kapoor and for obvious reasons!

Tigmanshu Dhulia's Govinda starrer titled Con Flick

Govinda's next film which is being directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia has finally found a title for itself. As per reliable sources, the film is being titled Con Flick. Now that's quite an interesting title for the film since it features Govinda as a conman.

Confirms the source attached to the film's crew, "Though a formal announcement would be made shortly, Tigmanshu has more or less closed on Con Flick as the film's title. It is a fun film and since the lead protagonist is a conman here, it made sense to have the kind of a name which justifies the essence of the subject."

Tigmanshu Dhulia, who has earlier directed films like Haasil and Charas (both starring Jimmy Sheirgill in the lead), has another ace up his sleeves in the form of Rimi Sen who would be playing an obese woman weighing as much as 160 kilos. She plays Govinda's love interest and the film promises to showcase some amazing chemistry between a young obese girl and a not-so-young man.

Also starring Vidya Malavade and Kabir Bedi in principal roles, Con Flick is quite a departure for Dhulia who in the past has been labeled as a filmmaker with a knack for making hard hitting films, courtesy Haasil and Charas. This time around, he takes a comic route by roping in Govinda, the uncrowned king of comedy and Rimi Sen, who has 'seriously' made a great impression with comic portrayal of a gold digger in recently released De Taali.

It should be quite en eventful journey for Tigmanshu Dhulia from this point because while he heads for the shoot of Con Flick, he already has wrapped up the principal shoot of Shagird which stars Nana Patekar, Anurag Kashyap and Mohit Ahlawat in lead along with Rimi Sen (again)!

Some of the other films to be directed by Dhulia which were announced in the months gone by but are yet to see some progress are Fame (Sunil Shetty, Govinda, Kay Kay Menon, Anjori Alag), Ghayal 2 (Sunny Deol, Om Puri) and Ghulami (Sunny Deol, Sameera Reddy). However, one hopes that after being in the wait for years, Dhulia does manage to mark a comeback with Con Flick and Shagird.

Mallika breaks her silence

Here's another EXCLUSIVE and as always, it's ONLY on 'Bollywood Buzz'.

Mallika Sherawat is in the eye of a storm. Make it two. The actress, who stopped talking to the media almost two years ago, has been dragged into two controversies.

The first pertains to the film FAUJ MEIN MAUJ. Sometime back, there was talk that after shooting a major chunk of the film, the actress told the producer in very clear words that she would complete the film only if the director was changed.

"Never! I never said that," Mallika breaks her silence, "All I said was that the script wasn't shaping up to everyone's satisfaction and it would be great if we re-worked on it. It's a great plot and everyone felt that it deserves a better screenplay. It's the producer's call, how can I dictate terms?"

More recently, Studio 18 lodged a complaint against the actress in a producers' association [IMPPA] because the actress, after signing the film, had problems with Kundan Shah, the director, on certain issues.

"False! I am ready to work with Kundan-ji even today. He's someone I truly admire. JAANE BHI DO YAARO is a cult film, one of my favourites. But it was clearly decided that things would be mutually discussed at the very outset. If the problems are sorted out, I'd love to work with Kundan-ji. Why not?" she sets the record straight.

Imran in KJO's next?

Here's the biggest news of the week. Rumours are rife that Karan Johar has signed teen sensation Imran Khan for his next project, which will be directed by one of his associates. The film-maker is keen to cast a new face opposite Aamir's bhanja in this film, the story goes.

"I would love to work with Imran, he was fantastic in JAANE TU… YA JAANE NA, but the fact remains that I haven't signed him for any of my projects," Karan Johar tells me, "There's no denying that Imran has great potential. He's sensational and looks so fresh. But the news is untrue."

Meanwhile, Karan has decided on the release date of his new film DOSTANA, being directed by Tarun Mansukhani. It's November 14.

In her Silver Jubilee year, Katrina moves on

Katrina Kaif turns a year older today and opens another chapter in her blooming career that has witnessed as many as five consecutive box office successes in a row. Namastey London, Partner, Apne, Welcome and Race have all been hits that have made Katrina Kaif, a serious contender for sitting pretty much in the top ledge of Bollywood actresses.

Says a prominent filmmaker who himself comes with a record of delivering consecutive multi-crore box office blockbusters, "Katrina Kaif is truly on a dream run and it would be foolhardy to judge her fortunes by calling her as a lucky heroine. The fact is that she has carefully planned her career while her selection of films has been impeccable."

He goes on to add, "Even before her Big 5 films came, her Humko Deewana Kar Gaye didn't really lose any money. Also, one can't forget that though she didn't have a lengthy role in Sarkar, the film was a hit. One can't take away this credit from her. With her recent films giving her quite a lot of visibility, both from acting and song-n-dance routine perspective, Katrina is commanding a very good standing for herself."

As per trade insiders, Katrina is considered amongst the select few who commands a price and gets it as well. Professionalism is another virtue which goes in her favor which has made Katrina Kaif a darling amongst the filmmakers as well.

A few even believe that if Akshay Kumar is fast aiming for the 'King' tag, even Katrina could soon qualify as a 'Queen', courtesy her great track record with the man who himself is riding high on more than half-a-dozen back-to-back successes (barring Tashan). Her Singh Is Kinng and Yuvraaj are hot in the trade circles as well which brings her closer to making it seven-in-a-row.

On her films which are currently on floor, Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani is looking hot too, considering her first time pairing with Ranbir Kapoor. With Raj Kumar Santoshi at the helm of affairs, the film which also stars Upen Patel, is currently being shot in Ooty. The film is special because for the first time, Katrina is working with someone who belongs to her own age group.

Says a source attached to the film's crew, "Chemistry between Katrina and Ranbir is pretty palpable; quite obviously since both of them belong to the same age group. In the past Katrina has worked with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Govinda and Abhishek Bachchan - all of whom have been elder to her by a decent margin. However, with Ranbir, it's a different kind of a comfort feel altogether since the two youngsters are clearly having fun."

The flight plans of Hrithik-Barbara's KITES!

Ever since top filmmaker Rakesh Roshan announced his international project, KITES, to be directed by Anurag Basu (of MURDER, GANGSTER and METRO fame) it has continuously remained in the limelight. The reason behind the intense excitement for the film is natural; it features superhero and selective superstar Hrithik Roshan, international actress, Barbara Mori and the Himachali beauty, Kangana Ranaut in a never before role.

While the project has been kept under wraps, in an exclusive feature, we bring to you brief character sketches and get-ups of the above three mentioned stars of KITES and also the tentative shooting schedule.

First up is the lead actor, Hrithik Roshan. He essays the role of a street smart scamster, albeit a lovable one, who resides in Las Vegas. He will be seen sporting formal, European style linen suits, cut close to his body and hats (specially designed by a hat maker in Hong Kong).

The South American beauty, international actress Barbara Mori, who has an incredible body, will be dressed in colourful dresses in a very casual look (as per her character), with lots of layering.

Last but not the least, since the GANGSTER girl Kangana Ranaut plays a rich and sophisticated lady, or in other words a siren in KITES. She will be seen wearing elegant ensembles in longer silhouettes, which will provide grace and poise to her character, as required for the role. After KITES, people will see Kangana in a totally different light.

We must add here that these are the tentative plans of the dress designer of KITES, Suneet Varma.

Meanwhile, the film is all set to roll in New Mexico on 28th July. The first shooting schedule will be held abroad, in places like New Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles and will be completed in 80 days. Then there will be another long schedule in India in December. After the completion of these two massive shooting schedules the shooting part of the film will be over.

Akshay is paid Rs. 75 crores?

Here's the hottest rumour doing the rounds of the industry. UTV, which has a slew of projects on floors and is still planning a few more projects, has signed Akshay Kumar for a whopping Rs. 75 crores. If true, it would be the highest ever price paid to any actor in Bollywood.

However, a trustworthy source at UTV laughed aloud when I called to verify the development. "That's not true! We have signed Akki for one of our forthcoming projects, but the price is nowhere close to what you've heard. And we wouldn't like to go on record to confirm the actual price," he said.

But the fact remains that Akki is the most sought-after actor in Bollywood today, in the same league as SRK.

This Diwali: Salman exits, SRK enters

The Diwali week [October 24] may witness changes! Hrithik unveils the new look of Magic Moments brand of vodka

Here's to yet another long-standing endorsement deal. Sometime last year, we had informed you about Hrithik Roshan's association with Radico Khaitan's premium liquor brand Magic Moments.

"I'm star struck and have always been. I'm obsessed by filmstars" - Karan Johar

Koffee and 'K' is his obsession and his Name is Karan. Known for his kind of "bubble gum cinema" Karan expresses his thoughts on Bollywood and honestly reveals the "dishonest honesty" about the Film Fraternity, including himself in his blog 'My Name Is Karan'.

Bollywood Buzz brings you some excerpts of his blog, www.mynameiskaran.com. Excerpts from his first blog are as follows:

Dated: June 19, 2008
"So let me start by saying, I am star struck, and have always been. I love, adore, and am obsessed by film stars. I like to befriend them, I enjoy meeting them, I love having them in my inbox, and more importantly, I'm constantly trying to add to my collection. There, I said it. For many years, I had a desire to be popular. It's like I wanted to win every congeniality contest in the world. It made me artificial. I didn't quite like that about myself but I also didn't know how to get out of that zone. I used to gush about women in terrifying clothes. Appreciate god awful celluloid performances. Hug and kiss people I wanted to send to jail and even applaud films that should never have been released. I had become the Godzilla of fake."

Karan's latest entry in the blog has been about some obvious traits of the Bollywood Fraternity. Surely, Karan hasn't missed out on anything. This is a view completely from an insider. So here are the excerpts of the latest entry:

Dated: July 11, 2008
"I love the film fraternity. I love everything about it. Nowhere in the world will you find such a cocktail of complexes, complexities, contradictions, and of course, charisma. We are unique and our DNA must be preserved for posterity. Why deny generations ahead of our vanity and our insanity? Pardon the rhyme; it's with good reason. So what makes us so special? Well, read on.

In Denial:

We deny our relationships, affairs, infidelities, and enmities. We love denial. God forbid if we started admitting to things, the speculation would stop, and we just can't have that. We like to be in the news, and to make sure of that we employ publicists who plant stories under our surveillance that we later deny with an absolute straight face. It's called "The Art of Convenient Alzheimer's." The truth is we love the invasion and we feed off the trash. We deny this of course.

Star Hatings:

Favorite conversation piece at fraternity affairs: critic bashing. It's more fashionable than bling (Bappi's back!) From saying they are bought to calling them biased, we don't leave a single stone unturned. We take all the critics' comments personally and feel it's a vendetta against us. Maybe we actually made a bad film??? Oh god, how could I have just said that? We never make bad films, we make "misunderstood cinema", understood? All this can change because all it takes is a 4 star review (5 stars would be pushing it) and paragraphs of gush and we're back on track. The next step is to give full-page ads in leading newspapers highlighting the critic's comments in "inverted commas." Double standards?? Don't be silly; we think it's our birthright.

Disease of Delusion:

The fastest spreading disease within the fraternity is the disease of delusions. It can give any viral a run for its medicine. We are delusional about the box office figures of our films, our current star status, our lover's fidelity, and our physical appearances (though thanks to Photoshop, that gets taken care of)…

And the Loser is…:

A very wise man once told me, (oh forget it, lets give credit where its due) Javed Akhtar once told me, "Take the awards seriously the year you get them." Year after year, we've been going on about the commercialization of our film awards. The rigged decisions, the lobbies and the camps, the jury villains and the vamps. Yet year after year, we land up in our shimmering saris, ill fitted gowns, and tacky tuxedos. The criterion for turning up is simple; either we're winning or performing. A combination of the two is ideal...

So please allow us our quirks and shortcomings. We never claimed to be perfect; you put us on that pedestal. Chew on that while we go back to making movies, for what in the world is better than that."

Saying all this, Karan seems to be using the blog to promote his own films and also the films he likes. Besides announcing his film, My Name Is Khan, he has also requested everyone to watch Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na.

Well, if you found 'Koffee With Karan' entertaining then his blog 'My Name is Karan' only promises to continue the trend...

Way to go KJo!

Kareena Kapoor has the last laugh

Kareena Kapoor’s having the last laugh.

Apparently the actress, who always trusts her instincts when it comes to signing films, is happy that she decided not to be a part of Harman Baweja’s sci-fi Love Story 2050.

Before the film could release and bomb at the box office, there were reports that ‘Kareena’s loss was Priyanka Chopra’s gain’, but now after the verdict is out, everyone’s saying that it’s just turned out to be the opposite.

According to sources, Kareena was very upset that she was made out to be the villain, because she walked out of the film. “She was not happy with the script and they were not ready to make any changes to it, so she opted out,” says a source. Bebo’s career is looking up and she has a plethora of films with the best banners of Bollywood, including Idiot with Aamir Khan.

Sallu says no to leather jackets

One of the first contemporary stars to establish their own style statement, Salman Khan is rather known for his 'cool hunk' image. But when the producers of the television show 'Dus Ka Dum' decided to cash on it, Salman decided otherwise. The actor insisted on coming across as a gentleman not just with his polite behaviour but also with his dress code on the show.

According to designer Ashley Rebello who teamed up with Salman's sister Alvira to put together the actor's wardrobe, the producers wanted Salman to don leather jackets and jeans that would go in-sync with his hip and funky image. However, the actor refused to do so. In stead, he suggested that they go with a subtle wardrobe that would not intimidate any of the guests.

"It was Salman's idea that his usual 'casual' and 'cool' look be replaced by something more subtle yet stylish. That's how I came to design the smart semi-formals for his act on 'Dus Ka Dum'. In fact, Salman is someone who really likes solid colours and so when it came to choosing the colour palate, Alvira and I decided to stick with colours like black, blue and grey. And just to add that tinge of vibrancy which is second nature to Salman, we teamed them up with bright colours like pink, turquoise and greens."

Now with this revelation, it is quite clear that Sallu is one star who likes to keep it simple while trying to impress his audiences. And if the reviews of the show are anything to go by, seems like the actor has achieved what he really seeked to – the gentleman image, a people person image. After all, isn't everyone raving about Sallu's sensitivity for reality show participants?

Abhishek the singer

In spite of having done so many films with dad Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek was as nervous facing the camera with his father in their latest film together as he was the first time.

“In fact, I was more nervous now than I was earlier. Why only me? Any actor would be nervous with him no matter how many times you work together. He’s such an awesome talent.”

After a long spell of shooting in Miami for Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana, Abhi went straight into resuming Rakeysh Mehra’s Dilli 6. “It’s a young and vivacious romantic comedy. I’ve never done this genre of cinema before. Priyanka, John and I had fun. But we were never allowed to forget that we had work to do.”

And now there’s more excitement for Junior Bachchan. After Wyclef Jean in Miami it’s Vishal-Shekhar doing a full hip-hop album with Abhishek which will also have guest vocals by Bachchan Senior.

So, for the first time father son duo will be singing together. Abhishek had a ball recording a song with the super-hiphopper Wyclef Jean in Miami. Says Abhishek, “Aadesh called me one day and requested me to be a part of the song. Aadesh is a close friend and it was wonderful to finally sing with him. Wyclef is a musician I have admired for a long time and have great respect for him. It was a treat to record with the two of them. And had loads of fun.”

Abhishek has recorded a hip-hop song before. “When I was recording with Vishal-Shekhar for Bluffmaster, I was equally petrified. I love to sing, but I’m not a singer and I have only done this track as a personal favour to Aadesh.” Abhishek’s non-filmi album with Vishal-Shekhar with his dad is taking longer than expected.

Says Abhishek, “The album with Vishal-Shekar has been in the making for the last two years and hasn’t released yet. I’d have loved to have premiered it during our World Tour in July. But it’s not ready. When it is ready we’ll release it.” So is Abhishek turning into an actor-singer like the Big B? “Dad has a great singing voice. Mine is nowhere near his. I don’t think I have the ability or talent to do all that he has done.”

George Bush, Osama Bin Laden in MISSION ISTANBUL

Apoorva Lakhia and Suneil Shetty are really thinking BIG for their upcoming project MISSION ISTANBUL.

The film is being promoted extensively with each of the actors getting a fair dose of limelight for himself. While Zayed Khan is being the common factor amongst all the film's promos (since he plays the central protagonist), even Nikiten Dheer (who did loose his share of pie in JODHAA AKBAR in spite of being pitted against Hrithik Roshan) has been making quite an impression with his physique standing tall over anyone else in the frame.

Vivek Oberoi too doesn't have a reason to complain since he has not just become much more prominent in the promotional plans of the film but now also has an item song all for himself. No wonder, he is giving tough competition to Abhishek Bachchan who has been roped in as an item boy for MISSION ISTANBUL.

But are you aware that apart from Zayed Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Suneil Shetty and Nikiten Dheer, there are two more characters which form an integral part of this action packed thriller? And these two men are not fictional but belong to real life!

We are talking about the characters of George W. Bush and Osama Bin Laden, who would feature in this most ambitious venture of Apoorva Lakhia.

Of course, one can't expect the two men to be facing the camera for a feature film and hence the makers of MISSION ISTANBUL have roped in look alikes of Bush and Osama for their film. While Brent Mendenhall, an exact look-alike of U.S President George W. Bush, appears in the film as Bush, the part of Osama Bin Laden would be enacted by Khalil Ahmed.

In a film that has been shot in Turkey and exposes behind the scenes games of media and terrorism coming together, MISSION ISTANBUL is indeed generating quite some heat for itself. Also starring Shabbir Ahluwalia, Shriya Saran and Shweta Bhardwaj, MISSION ISTANBUL is a co-production of Popcorn Motion Pictures and Balaji Telefilms Ltd. and is all set for a 25th July.

Mallika slaps, kisses and doodles in Ugly Aur Pagli

Whatever Madame Mallika Sherawat does, makes for interesting reading. Mallika has this habit of doodling. In fact, whenever she is sitting idle, she starts scribbling on a piece of paper without realizing it. On the sets of her forthcoming film Ugly Aur Pagli, her real life habit of doodling inspired director Sachin Khot to incorporate it even in her reel-life character too.

Its no wonder then that Mallika's character in the film, Kuhu, is seen extensively doodling and every time she doodles; Ranvir is seen fantasizing about the things she has written on paper.

Says debutant director Sachin Khot, "When I saw her making all sorts of designs on a piece of paper and that too subconsciously, I loved the thought and concept so much that I decided to incorporate it even in her on-screen character. The only addition that I have made in the doodling is that instead of designs, she doodles words."

Her doodling however leads to lot of hilarious scenes in the film. "Mallika's character doodles weird stories and she uses Ranvir as the guinea pig to listen to all of them. If that was not enough, she also plays music on her ipod and plugs it into his ears to create the background score. This actually leads Ranvir into a fantasy world and he starts imaging the stories", says Sachin. "This whole idea fits into the film completely as Mallika plays a 21st century woman who is the one calling the shots in the relationship and Ranvir plays a loser who follows her completely", he adds.

Well, now apart from the 99 slaps and 1 kiss, we also have Mallika's doodling to look forward to in Ugly Aur Pagli.
