Kareena’s six crore project

After Jab We Met (JWM), Kareena Kapoor is asking for the moon — or Rs 6 crore to be precise. As part of her three films deal with Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision (JWM being the first) Bebo wants to renegotiate the agreement for the amount she desires — or she won’t feature in their next project.

Says an insider, “Though Kareena is under a contract with Ashtavinayak, it was meant to be film by film. The actress has upped her market price after JWM and started signing films for Rs 2.5 crore.”

It is learnt that when Ashtavinayak recently approached the actress, they were shocked by her demands. They offered her Rs 5 crore but Kareena doesn’t want anything below Rs 6 crore.

As reported ‘She is an high-item’ (HiTLIST, March 18), Katrina Kaif has been signed by Ashtavinayak to do an item number in their film Blue for Rs 1.5 crore.

This makes her the highest paid item girl in the industry. And this seems to be the reason why Kareena doesn’t want to do their film for anything less than Rs 6 crore.

A source close to Kareena justifies the price hike.

The source says, “Why six crore? Kareena feels she deserves more as she’s been getting her price from other producers. She shares a special bond with Ashta Vinayak as they gave her JWM, so she doesn’t want to stress them too much.

If Katrina is getting Rs 1.5 crore from Ashtavinayak for just an item song and Aishwarya is getting Rs 6 crore for Robot after her marriage, why can’t Kareena get that and more?”

Kareena’s business manager Zahid Khan says, “I won’t comment on the price but what we are negotiating for is very good.”

Parag Desai, media consultant for Ashtavinyak points out, “We have signed Kareena after JWM for a three films deal, so revising the price is totally out of the question. It’s just baseless rumours doing the rounds.”
