Shoaib Malik-Sania Mirza get married

She wore a red sari at the nikah today, Shoaib wore a sherwani by Shantanu & Nikhil

It's the latest in the series of twists that have become part and parcel of the Sania Mirza-Shoaib Malik story. Early today (April 12), their media representative told the press that the nikah between the two would be performed today. The date and time were not revealed due to security reasons, and the representative refused to answer any other questions either.

The nikah did happen at the Taj Krishna in Hyderabad, the same five-star hotel where the reception on April 15 is also expected to take place. Sania wore a red sari, the same one her mother wore at her own nikah years ago. Shoaib wore a sherwani by designers Shantanu & Nikhil. It's also been revealed that the mehendi function will be held tomorrow, while the sangeet ceremony will happen day after. The reception will take place as planned on April 15.

The developments today come after there were stories doing the rounds on Friday (April 9) that Shoaib and Sania were going to get married on the day. A qazi in the area had even confirmed that this would happen. But then problems surfaced because, apparently, Shoaib's passport and other documents were still with the police. A member of Sania's family had said then that the marriage would happen as planned on April 15.

Shoaib Malik divorces Ayesha Siddiqui =

Wedding with Sania Mirza on as planned for April 15

It looks like wedding bells will ring peacefully for Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis player Sania Mirza. The controversies and mud-slinging between Shoaib and Ayesha Siddiqui, who had filed a police case against him, saying that he had married her and then refused to accept her, have finally ended. Shoaib has divorced Ayesha following a compromise worked out by Muslim community leaders in Hyderabad. Following the divorce, the police case against him has been dropped. Ayesha's family confirmed the divorce, and said that they were happy since by agreeing to the divorce Shoaib had admitted to the marriage.

The entire controversy began about a week ago, after the announcement that Shoaib and Sania were getting married. Ayesha claimed then that she had married Shoaib in 2002, and that she had proof of the same. Shoaib denied the claims, and then later said that it had been a 'telephone nikah' that he had been forced into. The situation got uglier when Shoaib travelled to India, and Ayesha and her family filed a case against him, charging him with fraud and harassment. Following the complaint, the police seized Shoaib's passport and said he couldn't travel out of India until the matter was resolved.

Now it seems that with the controversies finally out of the way, Shoaib and Sania will get married as scheduled on April 15.

Shoaib Malik charged with harassment and fraud

His alleged first wife Ayesha Siddiqui’s family has filed a police complaint against him

Looks like it’s not going to be a smooth ride to the altar for Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza. The family of Ayesha Siddiqui, who claims that she and Shoaib were married, has filed a police complaint against the Pakistani cricketer in Hyderabad. He has been charged with harassment, fraud and defamation. Further, Ayesha’s family also claims that they have been offered $1mn by Shoaib’s family to withdraw the allegations against him. Ayesha’s family says that the marriage happened in 2002. Her family is believed to have submitted a copy of the marriage certificate to the police.

Shoaib is in India currently, and said earlier today that he had never married Ayesha. He added that he had spoken to a girl called Ayesha on the phone but that he had never met her or seen her. Apparently, he said that he had been forced to do a telephone nikaah with Ayesha.

Speaking to the media outside Sania’s house in Hyderabad, Shoaib said that he and Sania very happy about their marriage, and that the wedding would happen as scheduled on April 15.

Sania-Shoaib marriage hits an obstacle

Facing legal action from his alleged first wife, Shoaib's on a surprise visit to India

The controversies continue for Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik who announced a few days ago that they would be getting married in mid-April. There was always the issue that the two come from neighbouring countries which share a volatile relationship, and since there has also been the Ayesha Siddiqui factor.

Siddiqui claims that she and Shoaib got married in 2002, and says that he can't marry Sania until he divorces her. Ayesha and her parents have threatened to sue Shoaib unless he formally divorces her, they also claim to have documents to prove that the marriage happened. Meanwhile, Shoaib has denied that the marriage took place.

The latest development is that Shoaib was in India at Sania's house in Hyderabad on Saturday (April 3). The reason for his sudden visit is not known.

In India, Sania has also been criticised by Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray for selecting a Pakistani husband. For this reason, as well as the Ayesha controversy, it is being speculated that the marriage might be shifted from Hyderabad to Dubai. Sania and Shoaib had planned on settling in Dubai after they were married.

But through all the controversy and rumours, Sania is standing by her man. She posted on her Twitter account, "Me and my family know what the truth is, we've known it all along and we have confidence in god's justice."

Sonam is Sania!

Much has been talked about Aneez Bazmee’s Thank You and now all is set to start. Thank You stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Bobby Deol. It’s a romantic comedy.

The story connects it to Indian Tennis Player Sania Mirza. You must be thinking how? Not because she is getting married on the same day when the film will go on the floors. But Sonam Kapoor will play a character strikingly similar to Sania.

“She plays a sweet and sporty tennis player in the film. Sonam plays a state-level tennis champ in Canada so she cannot afford to look amateurish while playing the game in my film. I don’t expect her to become a tennis champ in a week but she should look like a professional,” says Anees Bazmee.

He also adds that, “Sonam is a bright actress and I know she will pick up soon and Akshay plays the Casanova who dates lots of girls until Sonam enters his life. It’s a light comedy film and we will start shooting in April in Canada. So now I am packing my bags and getting ready.”

"I will support India, and also my husband"

Sania Mirza, who is marrying Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, shared this and much more

Surrounded by reporters in her home city Hyderabad, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza was a picture of composure as she talked about her forthcoming marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The news of their match broke late yesterday, and today (March 30) the Indian tennis star held a short press conference to share what she felt about the news that has created a buzz in both India and Pakistan.

"I'm very happy, it's a very happy occasion. The reception will be held on April 15 in Hyderabad, the exact venue hasn't been fixed yet," she said. The valima will be held in Pakistan, she added. Sania and her family will be getting Pakistani visas for this.

Sania, who's 23 years old, revealed that she first met Shoaib about 6-7 years ago, but refused to share when they became romantically involved. "It's too personal," she said, adding that neither she nor Shoaib would be comfortable answering such questions.

She clarified that she will continue to play tennis for India, while Shoaib will play cricket for Pakistan. As to the ongoing political issues between the neighbouring countries, Sania said, "Of course, we're aware of the issues. But we're not making a political statement. We're getting married. We're happy, our families are happy. I've got so many good wishes from people."

Sania also confirmed that the couple would be settling down in Dubai after they're married. "He (Shoaib) is a resident there. Dubai is a great place to live in. I've always said it's like a second home. There are so many Indians and Pakistanis there. I will miss my family but it's just a three hour flight away."

Now that she was marrying a Pakistani cricketer, Sania was asked if she would be supporting India or Pakistan in a cricket match between the two countries. "I will support India. I'll also be supporting my husband but I will support India," she said.

Sania was even asked about having kids, to which she replied with a laugh, "I haven't even gotten married yet, and you're already thinking about my kids! I'm going to be participating in the Olympics in 2012, so there are no plans before that."

Sania Mirza to marry Shoaib Malik

The Indian tennis star and the Pakistani cricketer will be based in Dubai after they wed

It’s a match across borders and sports, as one of India’s top tennis players Sania Mirza will be getting married to Shoaib Mailk, the former cricket captain of Pakistan. The news has been confirmed by Sania’s father, Imran Mirza. He has also said that after the marriage, the couple will be based in Dubai.

It seems that there will be no engagement ceremony for the two, and that they will get married in April. It is believed that the wedding will happen in India while the reception will be held in Pakistan.

Just a few months ago, Sania broke off her engagement to her family friend Sohrab Mirza. It is believed that Sania and Shoaib have been seeing each other since. Apparently, the match was made formal when Shoaib’s mother met Sania’s parents in India.

Sania reportedly said yesterday that it was the biggest day of her life.

In the past, Shoaib was linked to an Indian woman called Ayesha Siddiqui and there were even rumours that he had married her. But now it seems like he has found his perfect match in Sania Mirza. Shoaib has said that he will support Sania in her career for as long as she wants to play.

Sania Mirza met Sarkar Raj

The Bachchans are all excited about their forthcoming film Sarkar Raj which opens across cinema halls this coming Friday (June 6).

Just last week, Amitabh along with beta Abhishek and bahu Aishwarya attended an event in the suburbs where the background score of Sarkar Raj was launched by T-Series. With the IPL mania finally coming to an end, all are now eagerly awaiting one of the first big releases this summer. And it’s not just our aam junta who is looking forward to this film but it seems that even tennis sensation Sania Mirza is eagerly awaiting the release of Sarkar Raj.

In fact just the other day, Sania was shooting next door to Amitabh Bachchan at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. When she knew that ‘Sarkar’ himself was in the vicinity she expressed her desire to meet him and wish him luck for his film. It may be recalled that Sania had even come on Bachchan’s popular game show KBC a few years back. Big B immediately came out of the shoot, when he heard that Sania has been waiting to meet him. After the exchange of pleasantries, Sania introduced her mother and sister to the superstar, and they wished him all the luck for Sarkar Raj. What’s more, Sania even appreciated the promos and said that even though she would be traveling abroad next week, she would definitely take time out and watch Sarkar Raj

Looks like Big B has yet another solid fan added to his humongous list of admirers.
