It's Ameesha for Leander

Ameesha Patel will be playing opposite Leander Paes, no, not a game of tennis – the duo will be seen together in Ashok Kohli’s 'Rajdhani Express', which is the tennis star's Bollywood debut.

Leander took 15 years to say yes to the director. He plays a common man in the movie, and has already enrolled in Anupam Kher’s acting academy to develop those on-screen histronics.

Ameesha, on the other end, is back in the business after a rough break-up with Kanav Puri and already has Rajkumar Santoshi’s 'Power' in hand, apart from 'Rajdhani Express'.

So, do you think Leander could have had a better partner for his opening match or is Ameesha the perfect choice? Let us know what you think!

Ameesha Patel does it again

Ameesha Patel does it again. Remember the last time our photog caught her sitting (right pic) in a short dress in her car? Clearly the actress hasn't learned from her past mistake.

Ameesha refuses millionaire proposal

Ameesha Patel refused her millionaire boyfriend Kanav Puri’s marriage proposal giving the reason that she wants to concentrate on her film career.

Makes us wonder which movie career she’s talking about in the first place eh? After a blink and miss item song in the flop Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic, Ameesha is nowhere to be seen on the Bollywood front as the only news she ever makes nowadays is with her businessman boyfriend Kanav Puri.

Ameesha has been dating Puri for a couple of months and as he is based in London, the two have been trying out the long distance thing for a while now. The actress stated that as much as she is in love with Puri, marriage will have to wait. After not answering our calls, Ameesha confirmed the news via sms, “Marriage is not on the cards for me, my career is top most priority and when the right time comes I shall tie the knot.”

The actress also stated to the press that as Puri is out of town, she won’t be distracted and will be able to concentrate on her upcoming projects. Ameesha has completed two films as of now, Chatur Singh 2 Star with Sanjay Dutt and Run Bhola Run with Govinda. Here’s hoping the films make more news than this refusal itself.

Ameesha:The picture perfect 'bahu-to-be'

Sometime ago Kanav Puri (he needs no introduction here) made full-blown prints of lady-love Ameesha’s pictures, the sexy shot (of her with a white cushion) from Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar.

The man is undoubtedly in love — hook, line and sinker! Don’t blame this die-hard romantic, dearies. But now even the Puri parivaar is fida over Amy baby. Or the photograph, for starters. Apparently she’s asked Dabboo for over twenty copies of the calendar, only to distribute it to Kanav’s family. Winning brownie points with the BF’s family, smart gal, eh? Hmm... though that super glam shot doesn’t really make the perfect bahu-kinda picture (the telly saas-bahu serial cult couldn’t agree more), we have to agree that this ain’t no ordinary couple anyways, no?

Ameesha on the cover of MW

This surely seems to be some sort of a lesson (or better still 'inspiration') to all those who believe in Numerology! She started her romance with the silver screen as Amisha Patel. After which, due to reasons well known, she dropped her surname and went onto become only Amisha. And then came a time (which has retained itself till now), whereby she calls herself as 'Ameesha'. We wonder if this has anything to do with numerology, but one thing is for sure that this 'Ameesha' chic has become quite a looker and more stunning than ever before!

If you do not believe us, then, go grab a copy of the latest issue of 'MW', of which she is the cover girl. Man! We wonder how the fotog must have resisted his temptations while shooting this glacier beauty! Life is looking up for Ameesha for more reasons than one. She has found her 'true love' at last (as she claims), she looks more than 'just a mere' million bucks, has an array of class-apart films coming her way, namely Chatur Singh Two Star, Run Bhola Run, to name a few!

In this issue, Ameesha has mouthed some of the most memorable quotes of her career like "My versatility is my USP. I can play a school girl, a mother, and a seductress with equal ease, I hate any man who tries too hard to impress or whose swagger says, 'Look At Me'''. Overall, its Ameesha’s snaps and her quotable quotes that makes this issue of MW simply a Collector’s Issue!

"It's a character which the audiences will least expect me to play." - Amisha Patel

Ameesha Patel has every right to be pleased. The actress who began her cinematic career way back in 2000 with two super hit films, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Gadar, has brought herself a lot of commercial success but it's the critical acclaim she's desperately waiting for. So, will Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic cast a magical spell in her acting career? As Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel finds out in a quick fire cliched chat with the actress.

With Saif giving Thoda Pyaar, Rani giving Thoda Magic, what Thoda will you be throwing in the film?
I will be throwing a bit of Pyaar and Magic both because you need someone to handle both the things pretty well.

How was your first ever experience of working with Yash Raj Films?
Wow! Can you believe it! My first with Yash Raj Films. I was on cloud nine when I got a call to work for this film. I was also excited to work with Kunal Kohli for the first time, Saif too and Rani, with whom I have worked in Mangal Pandey. But more than anything else, it was my role which impressed me the most because it was a challenging and a qualitative role. It's a character which the audiences will least expect me to play. Can't tell you much though because we all know how Yash Raj works.

Are you paired opposite Saif in the film because an angel like Rani cannot fall in love?
I cannot tell you that. You will have to see the film to find out your answer.

What about the promos? Is it a deliberate attempt not to be showing you in the promos of TPTM for couple of weeks?
Well, the much of me starts today in the promos and by the time you submit your interview, it will already be viewed by millions on the television. But yes, we had kept my clippings nearing the release for the simple reason that the less exposure my character (Mallaika) gets, the better for the film, because I am the surprise package of the film and the team did not want the charm to fade away. But I'm sure the curiosity factor will always remain to see why Ameesha isn't shown in the promos. Don't worry fans...now she is.

The music of the film suffered quite a bit because of the IPL matches. And even after that, it isn't performing as per the expectations. Any idea why?
I don't know what information you have but the first two days of the release of the music of TPTM, it was sold out. I personally love the music of the film and there is a special reason for it too. I loved the song I shot under water in the film called 'Lazy Lamhe'. It's a fabulous song for which I had to learn scuba diving lessons. It's the first song in the history of Indian cinema to be lip synced under water and it was very difficult to sing too. It took fifteen days for that song to be finished. So it was like an achievement for us. I bet people are going to love it when they see it.

We have seen your association with kids right from your first film. How was the experience with them now in TPTM?
You are right, I did interact with kids in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, my debut film. It was a pleasurable experience because they were so disciplined and well behaved and really good actors, which surprised me even though I am supposed to be the surprise package in the film. Ha!

Why aren't we seeing much of Ameesha Patel now-a-days on the big screen?
Because I've chosen to work only on TPTM after Bhool Bhulaiyaa and now as I've finished with this film, I am working on two other projects - Chatur Singh Two star with Sanjay Dutt and Do Lucky with Tusshar Kapoor. I want to do less but concentrated work, so I can really give my everything to the role.

Ameesha Patel in Kunal Kohli's Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic

Yash Raj Films and Kunal Kohli are finally out with the name of their forthcoming film starring Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan. The film is now titled Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. “We just got the title 3 or 4 days back. Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic came by as I was looking for a title that was more relevant in today’s times, something that even a lay man can relate to. The name has to go the beyond the film and should be able to express more. And when we speak of Magic, it’s not ‘jadugar’ magic. It basically, talks about the little magic we need in our lives. Say sometimes you are upset, sad, or down and that little ray of magic works things out. We all need magic in our lives and that’s what the film does. It’s like a silver lining, it’s like the magic of life”, explains Kunal Kohli.

The buzz of Ameesha being in Kunal’s film already gave rise to various rumors of her doing an item number and so on. Clearing all rumors, Kunal states, “It is not an item number. I hate the term ‘item number’ in the first place. Yes, she doing my film but it’s not what you think. Ameesha is doing a guest appearance in the film and it’s a character role, which would also have a song. The song is not an item number but a beautiful and poetic song. She would have scenes as well; I do not believe in the concept of item numbers and do not like it being associated to my song. I asked Ameesha to do the role because the kind of character I had built, I thought she would be able to do justice to the role. I approached her, explained the role, and told her there was a song as well. What is more important is her role and not the song. When she heard the role, she was excited and agreed to do the role immediately. She basically loved her part in the film.”

So what is Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic is all about? “The film is very different from all my previous films. I do not have the same style of directing in any of my films. It’s a combination of fantasy and reality. All my films have been different, but none had fantasy as an element in it. The genre of this film is slightly different. Fantasy is interwoven with reality like in Mr. India, Krissh and Koi Mil Gaya. These films have kids but are not directed only towards kids, it could be watched by audiences of all ages. Kids now- a-days are very intelligent and you cannot talk down to them. They have to be treated with respect. My film is an entertaining Hindi film, which is for kids as well as the masses”, says Kunal.

The film’s shooting is complete and it is now into post production. Shankar Ehsaan Loy have given the music for Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and the lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi. “The music is releasing on May 22nd or 23rd. It’s a complete mix of emotional and upbeat music. The music of my films have always been strong and interesting and SEL have done a fabulous job on this. As for Prasoon, he is extremely talented”, says Kohli.
