Ashutosh Gowarikar to direct 250 Crore Buddha

Ashutosh Gowarikar is all set to direct an English film titled “Buddha”, to be produced by MK Modi of Spice Infotainment, a US-based company.

Talking about the project Ashutosh said “Buddha” will have an international cast and crew and will be his most challenging project till date.

He also said he will not be able to take any liberties while directing Buddha.

The male lead is yet to be finalised and could be a new comer or even a foreign actor said Ashutosh.

The script of the film is written by Oscar-winning writer David Ward.

“Buddha” will be shot in the foothills of Himalayas and will go on the floors by May 2010.

The film has a whopping budget – 200 crores for the film, 200 to 250 crores for worldwide marketing and another 50 to 100 crores for imaging and merchandise.

Ashutosh, last film was “Jodha Akbar”, is currently working on “What’s Your Rashee”, a comedy starring Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra.
