Rock On director at work, not on sequel
Abhishek Kapoor, the director of the critically acclaimed 2008 Cult Hit ‘Rock On!!’ is busy with new projects in the pipeline. After the major success of his second movie, Bollywood pinned a lot of hopes on him, expecting him to produce something similarly cutting edge that would also be commercially successful.
But though Abhishek is making movies, he is not working on a sequel to Rock On!!.
So what exactly is he working on? "There are a few projects, but I can't talk about them right now," he said.
Meanwhile, the man whom his movie turned into a genuine star, Farhan Akhtar, is conducting Rock On concerts across the country. Was there any link between this and the work that Abhishek is doing?
"Not really," he said, "Farhan is just giving back to the people what they enjoyed most from the movie Rock On. Its main aspect was the music that helped connect people all over the country. He’s just trying to keep the magic of the movie alive."
Abhishek's first movie as director was Aryan, which was never released, despite being promoted. It starred Sohail Khan and Ash lookalike Sneha Ullal.
He has also starred in movies including the duds Shikaar, Uff Ye Mohabbat and Aashique Mastane.
