Kamal Hassan's Daughter Shruti to make her debut on Big Screen
Thanks to Aamir Khan’s call, Kamal Hassan’s beti trounces two hopefuls; to make debut with Luck
There’s more to Kamal Hassan’s daughter signing her first Hindi film than meets the eye. There’s a full-fledged soap opera behind this seemingly routine tale.
Jacqueline Fernandez aka Jasmine (who plays the romantic lead in Sujoy Ghosh’s Alladin) and Neha Uberoi (who made her debut in Woodstock Villa) were supposed to play the two female leads in Luck.
Thanks to one phone call, both the hopefuls are out.
The tale of how Shruti found her way into Soham Shah’s Luck involves big players with big ambitions.
One is Aamir Khan, who has been taking more than a passing interest in his nephew Imran Khan’s career.
Aamir Khan and Kamal Hassan are old friends and are openly appreciative of each other’s works. Khan called up Kamal Hassan on his nephew Imran’s behalf urging the Tamil thespian to let his daughter make her debut with Imran in the sporty and rugged Luck.
There was no question of saying no to Aamir.
And just like that, Jaccqueline was out and Shruti was in. Another unfortunate fallout of this new pairing is Neha Uberoi, who was looking forward to leaving for her long outdoor with Imran. But Luck ran out on her (pun intended) too. Adds Neha, “We parted amicably. Am I disappointed? All I’ll say is, it’s good that all this is happening now at the start of my career. I’m learning to be strong.”
The distressed girl’s father Dharam Oberoi (CEO of Sanjay Dutt’s company) apparently got Dutt to do Luck.
His daughter’s departure from the project hasn’t made him regret his decisions, “It’s unfortunate, but hota hai. Yes, Neha is unhappy about these developments. But I’m teaching her to get used to the ways of showbiz.”
