Deepika Padukone has asked for a fat fee to attend the parade in NY

It’s an annual tradition for Bollywood actors to attend the India Day parade in New York each year. Every year, a B-Town celeb is invited to lead the parade. Last year, Priyanka Chopra walked in NY on Independence Day and this year, the organisers have asked Deepika Padukone to attend the event.

Sources reveal that the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) is in charge of the event and getting Bollywood stars. It is learnt that it wasn’t easy for the organisers to get Deepika.

A source reveals, “Deepika has upped her price post Om Shanti Om. Initially, she was open to ribbon cuttings and attending events. But now she has limited herself to big events.

When she was made the offer to attend the India Day parade she quoted a certain price, but now she has asked the organisers to double her price.”

Since the event is less than two months away, the organisers have been left with no choice but to agree to her demand. A source adds, “Deepika was charging somewhere in the 35-40 lakh bracket.

But now she’s asked them to double the amount. Even though the organisers have agreed to meet the price, negotiations are still on.”

A source adds that Deepika is playing the waiting game and hasn’t yet decided if she will be attending the event or not.
