Riteish installs hi-tech scanning device in his bedroom

Becomes the first B-Town star to install one; SRK to follow in his foot'prints'

Technology is the key, especially to B-Town stars like Riteish Deshmukh, who may well be the first star in Bollywood to have an electronic fingerprint scanner installed for his bedroom and wardrobe!

In use

Talking about it, Riteish says, “I have been looking at various types of electronic fingerprint scanners to install in my wardrobe.
I have one in my bedroom (he resides at Malabar Hill). I am also an architect and it is my job to keep abreast of all new technologies. I had read about the electronic finger print scanners in magazines and have seen some in operation in the sample flats of some buildings that I have designed.”

Like a key

An electronic fingerprint scanner, Riteish explains, is like a key. “Instead of the key, you use a fingerprint to enter your house or room in my case, open my wardrobe. The fingerprints are scanned and retained in the memory of the scanner. It’s like if there are five members of a family there will be five sets of fingerprints in the scanner. If you have a big bedroom and don’t want household help to enter, you can have it installed at the door. The fingerprint scanner will activate when you put your finger on it before entering the room.”

No loopholes, please

Riteish says he wants to install the scanner in his wardrobe because sometimes, he misplaces the keys. “I am in talks with the people marketing the product in India. Right now, we are working out the loopholes – like how the carpenter will work it in, what happens if it doesn’t work after installation, etc. Once everything is smoothened out, I will install it.”

This makes him the first B-Town star to use such a device. “I had no idea about that,” says Riteish, who is currently shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Aladdin.

It is learnt that the system, made by a German manufacturer, costs anywhere between Rs 10 to 15 lakh depending on the area it is operational under. Mostly, corporate organisations and other heavy security buildings employ fingerprint scanning devices.

SRK gets secure

Buzz is that Shah Rukh is getting a similar system installed at Mannat, his residence. He is considering installing electronic surveillance. SRK wants to take the prints of close friends Karan Johar, Farah Khan and others to ensure they get uninterrupted access to his house.
