Fighting over Sikandar
Both the producers of Sikandar Kher’s ‘debut’ films want their project to be his first release
Sikandar Kher who has been trying to make his silver screen debut for over two years now has two films that are ready for release. It is believed that the newcomer wants Adlabs’ Summer of 2007 (which was unveiled at a special event last night at The Club, Andheri) to be his first release in stead of Sanjay Gupta’s Woodstock Villa.
An industry source reveals, “Although it was Sanjay who was instrumental in kick-starting Sikandar’s career, the actor has lost interest because it’s been in the making for over a year. Sikandar signed for Summer after he finished shooting for Woodstock Villa. Now Sikandar is keen to promote Summer, and wants it to be his first."
The source adds, “Gupta has started to promote Woodstock extensively. He has started to place ads in trade magazines and is pushing for the release before Summer.”
The director of Woodstock and the COO of Gupta’s banner White Feather Films, Hansal Mehta says, “If Sikander is unveiling Summer of 2007, what does that have to do with my film? He has acted in that movie and I wish him all the very best for it. My movie is going to hit cinemas in May.”
Says Sikandar, “Adlabs is putting in money to promote Summer of 2007; the best person to ask why Woodstock is not being promoted is Sanjay Gupta, the producer.” When quizzed about which film he wants out first, he says, “Whichever one is ready for release. As far as I am concerned, I want both films to come together.”
