Believe it or not, but the whole ‘bikini top ‘n’ skimpy shorts’ avatar in short — flaunting Rani Mukerji’s hot new bod wasn’t her idea. Not even the producer or director had anything to do with it.

Adds the source, "She always wanted to own a sports car. But her recent trips abroad made the longing more urgent. Earlier, she was in two minds considering the roads and traffic in the city, but now she is keen on buying one after driving a few of them. She personally owns a Mercedes S Class and had an E Class too. She has also had a test drive with the sports car of the same brand."

Priyanka's dad Dr Chopra says, "Priyanka is fond of sports cars but for now, we haven't bought any."

A Katrina Kaif ka deewana kills himself

Unable to meet his favourite actress Katrina Kaif in Bhopal a 24-year old man allegedly committed suicide.

The man named Motilal was part of a large group that had gathered at the location of the shooting for Prakash Jha's Rajneeti on September 5. When he was denied permission to meet Katrina he jumped into a nearby lake and killed himself. No suicide note was found. But onlookers heard him shout Katrina's name while taking the fatal plunge. When asked about the incident Katrina says, "I heard something like this happened. I am not sure of what it was. It's a police matter so I am not getting into it. I don't know why the man killed himself."

Adds Prakash Jha, "We did hear about this. We don't know what happened to the man. How can we be aware of what the onlookers are up to? "However Jha met the senior cops in Bhopal and the matter has been sorted out. However Katrina who seems to have unwittingly provoked this suicidal adulation is none too pleased with fan zeal. "I love attention. But only within limits. Besotted male fans is another are scary beyond a point," shudders Katrina.

Akshay Kumar sprints in the streets of London

Akshay Kumar took everyone by surprise when he jumped out of his car and sprinted through London when he found himself stuck in a traffic jam.

The actor was there for the shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala's House Full. One day, after pack-up from East London, the crew and Akki - with his trainer Jennifer - were travelling back to his apartment in Central London. They were about eight miles away and stuck in traffic, when she challenged him to beat traffic and reach before the unit; Akshay did just that.

Akshay admits, "Yes, Jennifer challenged me to run the rest of the way home and see if we could beat the car! Then my driver laid a bet saying that they would reach the hotel before them, so the bet was on.

She and I started running at 10.30 at night and passed all the other cars with my co-stars (Riteish Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal and Lara Dutta), the producer (Sajid Nadiadwala) and director (Sajid Khan) sitting in them."

Since there are several Hindi movie buffs in London - Indians, Arabs and Asians - and he was soon recognised and had people running after him. He laughs, "Guys were running after me trying to figure out if it was really me.

I heard them shout out aloud, 'Is he Akshay Kumar?' By the time I reached my hotel it was almost like half an Indian army was running behind me. I was excited, thrilled and exhausted too by the time I reached the hotel!"

Akshay cycled many times while in London. "I bought a couple of mountain bikes and cycled back from the set to my hotel through the middle of London. While some people stopped to take pictures. I would cycle through Hyde Park everyday.

It was great fun! I felt great, with my lungs burning and legs pumping but I'm not alone - there are hundreds of people trying to become fit. If you want to be fit, I recommend buying a bicycle, riding around, forgetting about your stresses and just breathing in the air that surrounds you."

Marketing of Do Knot Disturb keeps Sen under wraps

The marketing blitzkrieg of the comedy has been featuring Govinda, Riteish Deshmukh and Lara Dutta for long. There's also Sohail Khan, Ranvir Shorey and Rajpal Yadav in the newer promos. But Sush is conspicuous by her absence.

Moreover even the music CDs feature the rest of the cast prominently while she appears only in one group photo.

Produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by David Dhawan, the comic caper releases on October 2. According to B-Town rumours, there were certain issues between Sush and the makers of the film. There was also buzz that she did not get along with co-star Lara during the shoot.

So, is Sush being sidelined in the promotions? Says Bhagnani, "I am currently in New Delhi for the promotions of the film and am standing right next to a huge cutout of Sushmita. We have kept her out of the TV promos because every film follows a certain marketing strategy. We don't want to give away everything before the film releases. We have kept her character under wraps. We want Sushmita's presence to come as a surprise to the audience."

According to Bhagnani, Sushmita is a lady with a big heart. "Rumour mongers can say anything about her and the film's promotions but all this does not affect her. She knows what we are doing and we are well aware what a great person she is. She is too big for all this and whoever has been talking all this are ants. I have known Sushmita for years; almost 10 years ago she featured in my film Biwi No 1. She is a class apart."

Lara dismisses reports of rivalry with Sushmita

I hope people will cast us again, she says

The two beauty queens became Miss Universe and later joined Bollywood. Now when they come together for a film, rumours of rivalry are bound to do the rounds. But Lara Dutta, who stars along with Sushmita Sen in comedy "Do Knot Distrurb", says they got along well and would love to work together again.

"Sushmita is a lovely person and we never had any problem working with each other. This (rumour) is generated for publicity, but there is normally very little truth behind the talk that we didn't get along," Lara told IANS in an interview.

"Our country has only two Miss Universes and if they also start fighting...it couldn't get sadder than that. I just wish I had more screen time to share with her, as we had not worked together earlier and it was a fantastic opportunity," she said.

Rumour mills were abuzz that the two actresses were having a cold war due to Lara's meaty part in the film directed by David Dhawan.

Lara hoped she would get a chance to work again with Sushmita, who was crowned Miss Universe in 1994.

"I hope people will cast us again at some other time. At least David (Dhawan) should do it again," said Lara, who was crowned Miss Universe in 2000.

Co-produced by Big pictures and Vashu Bhagnani, "Do Knot Disturb" is a laugh riot on marriage and infidelity. Releasing on Oct 2, the movie also stars Govinda, Riteish Deshmukh, Sohail Khan, Ranvir Shorey and Rajpal Yadav.

Throwing light on her character, Lara said: "I play Dolly who is sort of a pin-up girl for men. But her own life is very complicated as she loves a man who is her sugar daddy.

"She wants security too; so she has an ex-boyfriend who truly loves her and at the same time she also has an unsuspecting soul who enters her life and turns into her best friend. So it's complicated for her to decide what is it that she actually wants in life among security, love, compatibility and her best friend. That ties a knot in her life, which she has to unravel."

Comedy is Lara's forte as she showed her funny side in "Masti", "No Entry", "Bhagam Bhag" and "Partner".

"I love doing comedies. There's been an image of Miss Universe tagged to me and normally people associate me with being more cerebral and more poise because of the crown.

"But what people don't know is that I am very comic in real life too. Doing comedies just gives me an excuse to be who I am. And if people think it's great acting, it works for me," she said.

"Do Knot Disturb" is also Lara's third film with Govinda after "Bhagam Bhaag" and "Partner".

"I am very lucky to have got this film because if at all I consider myself to be a comic actress, then working with Govinda at least once is necessary. But I have had the opportunity to work with him for the third time and our fourth film ('Banda Yeh Bindaas hai') is also ready," she said.

"He is a fantastic actor and I got an opportunity to grow as a comic actor with him. He is one of those actors who can make people cry with his laughter and at the same time make them laugh with his crying," she added.

With other future projects like "Blue", "Housefull" and "Tom & Jerry" in her kitty, Lara is on a high with the way her career is shaping up.

"I am very happy. It's a good time and good place where I am right now," she said.

But actress denies getting physical with boyfriend

Salman Khan’s sister Arpita held a special preview of her brother’s film “Wanted” for some very close pals of hers.

Present at the preview at Ketnav Theatre were cricketer Yuvraj Singh and producer Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun among others. She had also invited Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu for the same.

Reportedly, they walked into the theatre together and took up seats in the last row. After half an hour of the movie, both Kunal and Soha started getting cozy with each other. But obviously the people sitting around them were disturbed by their act.

There was also some commotion in the theatre as people started passing nasty comments. In the interval, Arpita personally requested them not to indulge in any such behaviour as people around were getting distracted. But the lovers did not stop.

At first Arpita tried her best to prevent the news from going to the media. But when that did not happen she clarified that she was sitting along with Kunal and Soha and no such incident took place. She also said that both Kunal and Soha come from very respectable families.

Soha too denied the news saying that it is utter rubbish and it is just a chance taken by the media to frame her wrongly.

Is Saif’s autobiography in the pipeline

Saif Ali Khan has an enchanting collection of candid photographs of himself and his co-stars which he intends to use for his personal biography or autobiography.

Joy Dutta is his friend and personal photographer. He clicks pictures of Saif and his co-stars on the sets of various films. These pictures find their way into albums and adorn the walls of Saif Ali Khan’s office and home in suburban Mumbai. Saif doesn’t want these photos to ever be published. All of them are in black and white.

About the photos that Saif has, “There is one of Akshaye Khanna playing chess and one of Vidya Balan from Parineeta. Saif’s most famous photograph however is the one of Kareena Kapoor in a sari. She looks like a retro goddess and Saif intends to get his favourite picture framed in silver. Along with playing the guitar and reading, photography is another passion of his. He often spends evenings with Joy discussing the latest developments in the field and they pore over magazines together,’’ informs our source.

He further adds, “Saif is well-read and well-spoken so he would make a good author. His Nawabi background and London education would definitely help him pen an interesting book. He will also use the services of the finest editor available. He is a very charming and eloquent guy with an intelligent appeal that is also sexy. One chapter will tell the story ‘Life before Dil Chahta Hai’ and another of ‘Life after Dil Chahta Hai.’ An entire chapter will be dedicated to his Nawabi heritage, style icon status and of course, his biggest hit: Love Aaj Kal. Then of course, there will be one about the future: marriage, films, productions and children. Saif, we are sure your autobiography will sell like hot cakes.
