Deepika’s a joke

With two back to back comic roles in her upcoming films, it sure looks like it.

The actress was last seen in Chandni Chowk To China, Om Shanti Om and Bachna Ae Haseena, none of these roles had her doing any comedy whatsoever. So it was only natural that the actress was unnerved during the shooting of Sajid Khan’s Housefull and Farhan Akhtar starrer Karthik Calling Karthik. While KCK is done with shooting the actress still has some portions to shoot for Housefull.

Houseful stars Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta and sources close to the set said, “While Akki and Sajid have a good equation together and both are known for their comic timing, Deepika feels out of place. The actress doesn’t really have a quirky side so she does feel left out. But Sajid always made her feel at home and acted out the funny scenes himself before she went in for the shot.”

Deepika herself admitted recently to the press, ’I was lost. I've realised that comedy is the hardest thing to do. And all these actors are so good at it. Akshay has worked with the best comic directors. I'm learning comic timing watching him.’ Dippy has not tried comedy, even when she was with Akki in CC2C, where most of her role required her to be a moll with one angry expression.

She's hardly even making much of an effort, an eyewitness on the set informs, "Deepika is so serious about playing funny, that she has forgotten to take it light, and that's why she is not performing on the sets."

When we tried to get in touch with Sajid Khan he said, "Not true, she is a versatile actress and has a natural flair with comedy."
