Shilpa Makes it happen

Shilpa Shetty will be taking a leaf out of renowned violinist Vanessa Mae's book to prepare for her role in The Man. To help her train, Sandeep Thakur, a violin instructor from Goa, has been hired.

A source from the unit reveals, "Shilpa plays an actress in The Man. Her role demands she play a violin. Shilpa is putting her heart and soul into practising to play the instrument. Over three weeks, she underwent rigorous training under instructor Sandeep's guidance on the sets, and in between shot breaks."

The instructor was present on the sets most of the time. Her violin-playing portions in the film have been styled like a Vanessa Mae video.

Shilpa says, "I have to play the violin in The Man. And to make it look real, I'm taking actual lessons. I'm having a tough time. My instructor tells me that it's the most difficult instrument to play and he's quite correct!"

She admits that her character is inspired by Vanessa Mae, she says, "Yes, I have watched a couple of her albums to get a rough idea of how to hold and play a violin. I have been training for three weeks now."

Vanessa Mae Vanakorn Nicholson is an internationally known Singaporean-born British pop and classical musician, especially noted for her violin skills. She describes her music style as "violin techno-acoustic fusion," as several of her albums prominently feature the techno style.
