Will Sallu be most Wanted

With 4 back to back flops Salman Khan will have 3 big releases this year, so it’s only natural for him to go all the way to stay wanted in the Industry.

Hello, God Tussi Great Ho, Yuvvraaj and Heroes sank without a trace and Salman will now be seen in Prabhu Deva’s Wanted, Vipul Shah’s London Dreams and Prem Soni’s Main aur Mrs Khanna. Wanted is the remake of south film Pokiri and Salman is on a promotional frenzy.

A man who refused to speak or promote his films has been learning a thing or two about marketing. Along with bringing his mother to a talk show to attending every event in town, Salman is making sure he is in the news and how.

But frankly speaking Wanted looks like a serious Quick Gun Murugun, Ayesha Takia a younger Mango Dolly and the music sounds like Mika remixed. Boney Kapoor who has been going through a bad phase has also put his producer career on line and has his hopes pinned on Wanted. “I’ve always been broke but not poor. Still this film is very important to me and I’m sure it will be a boxoffice success.” said Boney with his fingers crossed.

He added, “Salman’s personality, attitude and overall mannerisms reflect in the film. People will relate to him and in turn to his character.” To which Salman said, “Wanted has awoken me, I’ve never worked so hard in my life and finally I’m doing something out of the ordinary.”

Other than Wanted, Salman has Main aur Mrs Khanna which stars Kareena Kapoor and brother Sohail. The film is the same extra marital affair angle and looks very mediocre. Ajay Devgn and Asin starrer London Dreams looks like the only film which could salvage Sallu’s career with its grand production value and overall feel.

Salman's highly anticipated venture Veer is in the making and will see the light of day late next year and that too is dependent on the success he makes this year. You better not dissapoint Sallu!

'I want to live like a normal guy'

Salman Khan, who recently landed in Mumbai after a shooting schedule in London, attended a rare public event to announce that he would indeed be back on Season 2 of his game show “10 Ka Dum”, which takes off on Saturday, May 30, on Sony TV.

We caught Salman in one of his coolest moods as he spoke about his return to the small screen and his four back-to-back films this year.

Here’s what he said…

You are back on ‘10 Ka Dum’. How was the experience of doing Season 1? Are there going to be any changes in the format in the new season?

It was a great experience last year and hence I am back on the show. About the format, I think what has worked so far should not be changed.

‘10 Ka Dum’ brought the real Salman Khan to the people. Can you tell us a bit more about the real you?

When we do a movie they think this guy is acting. But it is completely different when we do such a show. Everybody’s character has a lot of shades. Like what I am to you might not be the same as what I am to another person. The show brought out what I am in general.

We stars also have problems like everybody else. Somewhere it affects us too. So if we are not in the right mood and get rude with someone, we also call that person back and behave overtly nice as well to make him feel better.

What all did you learn while doing the show?

What I got to understand is that the way I think in general is how the masses think as well. So somewhere I have not been alienated from the common man.

I want to live my life like a normal guy. I want to travel in a rickshaw or go to Barista for a coffee like everybody else.

They expect me to be this star which I don’t want to be at all times. So when I don’t want to be the star you guys get a lot of material to write about me!

Coming to your fee for the show, we hear you have cut down on it. Is it true? How much have you charged?

Yes I have cut down on my price. But that is just by a small margin.

For now there are going to be 14 episodes of ‘10 Ka Dum’ only?

Yes, that is what they have decided as of now. I don’t know what the plans are after that.

On to films… What are your forthcoming releases?

The first movie to release probably would be ‘Wanted: Dead And Alive’, then I will have ‘Main aur Mrs Khanna’, then ‘London Dreams’. By Diwali we shall have ‘Veer’.

Four films in such a short span…wouldn’t that be too much for the audience?

What do you mean? I think it would be wonderful to release movies everyday! (Laughs)

How much of ‘Veer’ is complete?

We have finished the London schedule and Rajasthan schedule which was the most difficult. I thought it would be difficult to shoot action scenes for ‘Wanted’, but ‘Veer’ was way more difficult. Now we have some 35-40 days of shoot left.

You don’t seem to be doing films which have serious subjects.

There are so many problems in the world. So when I do a film I do it thinking that in those two hours I should make the person laugh and feel relieved and then go back to his regular life.

Even if you look at ‘Khamoshi’, it was a very serious film. The original script had no humour for my character. All the humour that you find in the film was put by me.

So Sanjay (Bhansali) used to take two takes of everything in both ways and after seeing how it went for some days he agreed that it works much better with humour. In fact, I keep asking him why he makes such sad films!

Any chances of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ happening?

I don’t think so. I don’t know what Sanjay (Bhansali) has to say about this though.

95 lakh ka dum

Live life king-size’ is what Salman Khan clearly believes in. So it comes as no surprise that Boney Kapoor spent a whopping Rs 95 lakh on a single song in his upcoming film Wanted, starring Salman Khan in the lead role.

The song was recently shot in Karjat with 600 junior artistes and 200 dancers. Says an insider, “Wanted is almost complete.

Only a couple of songs are yet to be filmed, and they will be done in July-August. The song shot in Karjat is a groovy foot-tapping number and Salman Khan is at his best.”

Salman is WANTED DEAD AND ALIVE

The last time that Salman Khan and producer Boney Kapoor joined hands, the result was in the form of NO ENTRY, the biggest hit of 2005. And that after the disadvantage of prints' delivery problem, resulting in the loss of a day's revenue at many centres!

So, it is but natural that the trade and the industry is very excited and upbeat about their next project together, the remake of the South blockbuster, POKKIRI, with a working title, WANTED DEAD AND ALIVE. One may ask - Why such a strange working title? Well, there is a very valid reason for the seemingly odd title.

However, before we answer the question, let us clarify that it is WANTED DEAD AND ALIVE and not WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE, as many have been confusing! Coming back to the reason for the strange working title for the POKKIRI remake, in the film, Salman Khan is wanted dead by a group of people. However, the same Salman is also wanted alive by another group of people in the movie. Revealing who wants him dead (also who wants him alive!) and why would not be fair to the action thriller. A better idea would be to catch the movie, when it releases on the 2nd of October.

Salman reveals his upgraded six-pack abs!

We have already told you about the original fitness icon, Salman Khan, having imposed self-discipline in order to achieve peak fitness to execute the action scenes for the Hindi remake of the Tamil and Telugu blockbuster, POKKIRI. Here is more on the same.

The hot and fiery Khan recently did what is expected and associated with him. No, he did not bash up any journos or fought with his girlfriend, as he has matured with age! As per trade sources, Salman Khan, while shooting for a portion of the climax of the POKKIRI remake at Mukesh Mills (Colaba, Bombay), was spotted without his shirt as he revealed his perfectly tuned and enhanced six-packs, much to the delight of the onlookers!

While on Boney Kapoor's much-awaited WANTED DEAD AND ALIVE (tentative title of the POKKIRI remake), directed by ace choreographer, Prabhu Deva, the action flick is due to release during the latter half of the year.
