Shoaib Malik divorces Ayesha Siddiqui =

Wedding with Sania Mirza on as planned for April 15

It looks like wedding bells will ring peacefully for Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis player Sania Mirza. The controversies and mud-slinging between Shoaib and Ayesha Siddiqui, who had filed a police case against him, saying that he had married her and then refused to accept her, have finally ended. Shoaib has divorced Ayesha following a compromise worked out by Muslim community leaders in Hyderabad. Following the divorce, the police case against him has been dropped. Ayesha's family confirmed the divorce, and said that they were happy since by agreeing to the divorce Shoaib had admitted to the marriage.

The entire controversy began about a week ago, after the announcement that Shoaib and Sania were getting married. Ayesha claimed then that she had married Shoaib in 2002, and that she had proof of the same. Shoaib denied the claims, and then later said that it had been a 'telephone nikah' that he had been forced into. The situation got uglier when Shoaib travelled to India, and Ayesha and her family filed a case against him, charging him with fraud and harassment. Following the complaint, the police seized Shoaib's passport and said he couldn't travel out of India until the matter was resolved.

Now it seems that with the controversies finally out of the way, Shoaib and Sania will get married as scheduled on April 15.
