Karan woos Hrithik for action

Karan Johar is all set to remake the blockbuster Agneepath and Hrithik Roshan has been chosen to fill in the very big shoes of Big B himself! We spoke to some of the original cast members to know what they feel about KJo’s new venture!

“He’s a strong filmmaker and Agneepath was way ahead of its time, he would have to majorly reinvent the film to make it adapt to today’s times,” said Archana Puran Singh who played Shanti in the film. Amitabh Bachchan won a National Award for his portrayal of the brooding Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and the film fuelled his popularised image of the angry young man.

Sharat Saxena who played Usman Bhai one of the villains in the film felt there are many things in Johar’s favour to make the film a blockbuster success, he said, “I feel Karan Johar will make an even better film, he’s an intelligent director and will utilise the technology of today to give the film a modernised feel. Agneepath was shot entirely in Bombay and Karan can use exotic locations along with special effects.”

Rohini Hattangadi who played Suhasini Chauhan, the mother of Dinanath Chauhan was ecstatic with the news, she said, “Karan’s a talented director and he can make a whole new version of the film, yes there have been some remakes that weren’t that great but we’ve also seen Don and Devdas. In the end its all about how the director handles the script and brings his individual style in the making of the film.”

When quizzed about reprising their roles, Archana said, “There are many actresses who could do justice to the role, but looking at the shoddy casting nowadays you never know, maybe even Rakhi Sawant could be chosen for my role. That would be the day I would resign from my career!”

Lets just hope the remake isn’t the end of Karan Johar’s career as well!
