Sallu’s political dance
It was a scene that would have fit perfectly into a Salman Khan action flick – a chopper lands in the middle of a huge crowd, and the hero, dressed in suitably macho glares, biceps popping out of his shirt, gets down and walks up to the gathering, accompanied by wild applause and cheering.
The poll battle in UP got hotter as Salman landed there early this week, in Bollywood hero style, to campaign for Congress candidate Anu Tandon, who’s contesting from Unnao.
As soon as Sallu’s chopper landed, the thousands-strong crowd broke all security barriers to be able to get a glimpse of the actor. Some lucky fans from the crowd got his autograph before security personnel checked them. On popular demand, Salman eventually removed his glares so that the crowd could see him better.
After this display of enthusiasm by the crowd at the chunavi sabha, Salman also made it a point not to disappoint his fans. He sang songs like Jawani Phir Na Aaye, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Oh Oh Jaane Jaana, and danced to them too. After an hour’s time there, Sallu blew kisses into the air as he bid the crowd goodbye, to proceed to the next location.
The first step towards a political career, Sallubhai?
