Is Yuva Rani's best performance

According to popular film critics, Yuva and Saathiya are birthday girl Rani Mukerji's best performances. Read on to find out why.

INDU Mirani, Entertainment Editor, Mumbai Mirror: I loved Chalte Chalte. It was a sweet film and her character was very endearing.

Sarita Tanwar, Entertainment (HitList) Editor, Mid-Day: I loved Saathiya. She played a simple middleclass girl in it who opposes her parents to marry the guy she loves. She looked and lived the part well.

Meena Iyer, prominent film critic: I think Rani’s best performance was in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Her chemistry and affair with Shah Rukh was very attractive. I was a little skeptical about why she left her perfectly nice husband to be with SRK but then such attractions do happen and she portrayed the character so well. She is an actress who can do any kind of role, whether sophisticated or unsophisticated. Her fiery housewife character was the perfect foil to Abhishek’s unsophisticated character in Yuva.

Mayank Shekhar, prominent film critic: I really liked Yuva and Rani’s performance in it. All the actors did a good job but Rani stood out. It was the most natural performance of a Bengali girl. There was an earthy quality to her. She hardly had any screen time but she stole the show, especially with the scene in the train at the end of the film where she is so wild and angry. Her spontaneity was amazing.

Shradha Sukumaran, Film Critic, Sunday Mid-Day: I loved Rani’s performance in two films: the first one was Yuva, because she made a huge impact with a small role. The combination of Rani with Mani Ratnam was fantastic. The final scene where she realises Abhishek isn’t going to return and the way she expresses her built up frustration at the person sitting next to her was brilliant. I also liked her in Saathiya because she shared outstanding chemistry with Vivek Oberoi. Rani is an actress who can make you believe she is in love with a tree; she can share good chemistry even with a tree. She portrayed the range of emotions of a girl in love really well.
