Aamir appeals to vote

The wise Aamir Khan is giving his time and resources to ad films which exhort the common man to vote.

Aamir Khan is one actor who is often in the forefront of raising awareness about social issues. After supporting the Narmada Bachao Andolan and Earth Hour 2009 campaign, it is now the importance of voting that the actor wishes to stress upon. And for this, he has affiliated himself with the Association of Democratic Reform (ADR). Aamir has not only produced three advertisements that raise awareness about voting among the people, but also acted in all of them. And all this, of course, without charging a fee.

Aamir met Trilochan Shastri of ADR while he was at IIM Bangalore where he was shooting for Raju Hirani’s 3 Idiots. The kind of work that ADR had undertaken since the last eight years impressed Aamir so much that he decided to join hands with them.

Says Aamir, “Yes, I am involved in these ad films. And I need the support of the media for it. I will speak in detail about this at a press conference I plan to hold on the coming Tuesday.”

We hear that Aamir also managed to convince Prasoon Joshi to pen the scripts of the ads and got Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to direct them. Reveals a source from Aamir Khan Production, “Aamir knew that the organisation could not afford to pay the price people from the industry charge. So he decided that it’s best to make the ads as his contribution towards the ADR. The three ads Aamir has done convey that it takes little time to vote, equaling the time spent for voting to time spent for activities like buying vegetables.”
