Rani is not at the top!

Rani Mukerjee is one actress who is at the moment going though a ‘stagnant’ phase. The queen bee has given sincere performances in all of her films however for some reason those films have failed to create any magic at the box-office. Right from her film Paheli which had released in 2005, Rani has been coming up with box office debacles!

What followed Paheli was Mangal Pandey, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Baabul, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Saawariya and the recent Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic... Unfortunately all films failed to impress cinegoers. Rani’s apparent tiffs with some of her famous co-stars barring Shah Rukh and Salman have also left the actress with limited choices in terms of the films she signs. Her affiliation with the Yash Chopra banner too has left her with no where to go.

As an aftermath of Rani’s fading popularity, the ad world too is apprehensive about having the talented actor on board to endorse their products.

Rani who once was the face of Pepsi, Bata, Dabur, Munch, Chevrolet Aveo has only Titan Raga and Good Night in her kitty. She has not been signed for any new brands either.

Ad and filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar made a passing comment about Rani’s sudden disappearance from the ad scene. “I am surprised not to see Rani in the recent Munch ads”, said a puzzled Sarkar to his friend at a recent film event while Cheeni Kum director and Chief Creative Officer of Lowe India, Balki too expressed his concern for Rani. “Rani is going through a lean phase at the moment but the film industry thrives on one good Friday. Just one big film and I am sure Rani will bounce back”, said Balki optimistically.

We hope the same for you Rani as we’d like to see you where you actually belong... in the A league of course.
