Mallika builds a 1-BHK mud house in Kerala
Says a source, "When Mallika was shooting in Kerala, she heard about the Habitat Technology Group and asked their CEO to design a hut/cottage for her near Kovalam beach. It's 600 square feet in size, is made of mud, bamboo, lime and jaggery (a type of masala mortar) and follows traditional and vernacular idioms of Kerala. These huts cost anywhere between Rs 3 to 6 lakh."
Mallika's choice is a one-bedroom hut with a hall, bathroom and kitchen. According to the source, "Mallika is expected to arrive in the next few days and give the final approval to complete her home. The hut is on a hill and one has to reach the place on foot as it doesn't have a motorable road."
The source adds, "Mallika has always been a believer of sustainable architecture/technology. The objective of sustainable design is to use resources in ways that won't compromise the needs of future generations. The principles of sustainability work is to optimise site potential, minimise non-renewable energy consumption, use environmentally-preferable products, protect and conserve water, enhance indoor environmental quality and optimise operational and maintenance practices."
