John’s weighty issues
John Abraham is one actor who really likes to get into the skin of his character. He would go to any length to achieve whatever the role requires him to achieve. For Nagesh Kukunoor's film Aashayein , John Abraham's character Rahul Sharma is required to lose a lot of weight.
Rahul Sharma, a compulsive gambler, who on his bet of his life loses everything in life, goes through a very patch emotionally and gets dejected with life. Nagesh Kukunoor wanted John Abraham to lose weight as the film progressed and wanted to look his healthy self in the beginning. So that did not give John Abraham actually a lot of time in the beginning to lose weight.
John Abraham is someone who is a fitness freak and believes in his own fitness regime. So he took this up as a challenge to see if he would be able to achieve losing 16 kgs gradually to become his lean self. Laughs John Abraham, "Actually when I set out to achieve a weight loss for my character I did not know that eventually I would lose more than 16 kgs, more than anybody would have imagined. Today I can empathize a lot with people who want to lose weight as it is not an easy task."
