The Season Of Aish

Aishwarya Rai has three films releasing in quick succession: J.P. Dutta's ‘Umrao Jaan' on November 3, Sanjay Gadhvi's ‘Dhoom 2' on November 24 and Mani Ratnam's ‘Guru' on December 22.
While her fans appreciate an Ash fest, the trade is more nervous than excited.
Rai is 33 and she has to prove herself in these three films. This is her last chance,” said trade analyst Amod Mehra, who feels the Hindi film industry is kind to women till age 30, after which they only get to play sisters and sisters-in-law.”
Last chance or not, the numbers are not very flattering. In her nearly 10-year career, since her debut with Tamil film ‘Iruvar' in 1997, the lady has acted in 30 films. Three of them have been hits – ‘Devdas', ‘ Taal ' and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'. And the last of those, ‘Devdas' was four years ago.
Her two international outings, ‘Bride & Prejudice' and ‘Mistress of Spices' also hardly moved domestic audiences.
Which is why these upcoming projects are crucial.
