“In many cases, the men manage to get away scot-free,” says Shabana

Actor-activist and Parliamentarian Shabana Azmi has warned that the ruling on the interpretation of attempt to rape could have “serious repercussions” on child victims.

“In many cases, the men manage to get away scot-free,” says Shabana, pointing out the many problems faced in actually getting convictions in cases of child rape.

“In one case the man forced his organ into the victim’s mouth. Saying that penetration did not occur is a violation of the definition of attempt to rape. I am shocked. I think this definitely calls for a movement by women’s group and concerned citizens.”
